  1. Wrong Phil it's the faint hearts, deserters, weak minded pub goers and subscribers to Sky sports who do that. Gate receipts at Ewood will do well to reach £5-6m whereas the couch potatoes will soon contribute close on £30 million. I'm suprised you cant see that!
  2. Done it in the 70's and 80's and all I did was dream of the old days of BRFC in the 1st Div. You are talking as most older people do Fife I'm afraid. My old man rarely went after the 60's for the same reasons. Johnny Haynes earning £100 pw put people off too if I rem correctly. All this elderly guff and rumble is quite natural and in fact appears to be hereditary. I too am bored with that Champions League crap but imo that is down to the ceding, league format and the fact that partaking clubs really dont need to be Champions. Liverpool in fact have NEVER been Champions of the Prem. It's all crap and its designed solely to stop the big clubs from exiting early. I went out with 10 mins to go and I still do not know the result now! It really doesn't matter much does it? A return to a genuine knock out format would correct most of that Excitement in the Prem is on the wane for the same reason. We can all make a damned good pot at naming the top 2 and the bottom 2 now. The playing fields must be levelled before interest will return. Blue Phil jokes that it is Jan and I who fuel the players exhorbitant wages but thats largely bllox! Its the people who subscribe to Sky sports and the couch potatoe ale can pub watchers who are doing that if only they had the intellect to see it.
  3. Maybe it's since they extended old Trafford.
  4. Both are fast becoming yesterday's men. anyway shillitoe have you forgotten that Duff alone would cost something in the region of 15 million in wages alone never mind the transfer fee over the next 4/5 years. And there'd be a queue of other players agents lined up outside Williams office in double quick time.
  5. We'll just have to widen our supporter base then until we can trawl enough people willing to pay for their tickets. Anybody any workable ideas in this direction?
  6. So how do you equate your comments with finishing 6th in the prem?
  7. Whingers and moaners please dont read any further cos this is will be too difficult for you to comprehend. But... I had an interesting conversation that I had with a long time Terriers fan this morning. He's stopped going just recently on the basis that they charged a Category A price of £19.00 for the home match with Doncaster Rovers! (His normal ticket price being £17). Parrallel Lines eh? But it kinda puts my ticket cost for every Prem game of £21 into stunning perspective doesn't it? More putting into perspective needed here...........When I mentioned the cost of £21 per match he told me that he would willingly pay that (and even more) to watch Huddersfield in the prem. Sometimes some of our less committed, couch potato, beer swilling supporters do not realise how bloody lucky they really are do they?
  8. I'm not suprised....... Imo Woy must have thought he was buying Pires!
  9. They aren't bench warmers they are player replacements. Do you not prefer Jeffers, Roberts, Macarthy, Nonda, Henchoz to Kuqi, Dickov, Johnson, Gresko and Amoruso?
  10. He's in Sky's pick for whatever it all matters.
  11. Another thing about Friedel was how smart his appearence was on MOTD. Couldnt help but compare him to the dreadfully attired slob Jonathen Woodgate who must have embarrassed his own mother.
  12. Well how can this be? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/5332286.stm Have they got a money tree?
  13. At the end of the 2002-2003 season (under Souness) Friedal was named in the Premiership representative team. Imo Sparky has improved the team and the defence more than the keeper. The only thing about Brad that I cannot fathom is why he was so poor at Liverpool.
  14. Any normal person would revue the match afterwards and in the above case would not include the caution in his report. But we all know that refs are not normal people don't we? I find it really odd that despite TV evidence to the contrary and numerous pundits proving that they got certain decisions wrong it appears that the majority of referees are quite happy to appear completely stupid, stubborn and intransigent buffoons. It's small wonder people hate em is it?
  15. Just small club syndrome. West Brom / Bolton / Us have usually got the shittyend of the stick. Watford too are suffering. The only cure as I have said many times before is video usage for imp decisions.
  16. Bloody odd thing. I can never understand why Brad ever attracted criticism. Even on a poor day he is still the best keeper that has played for us in the past half century.
  17. Certainly but as has been stated by Hughes and Williams many times if we cannot improve on what we have got then we will not just sign squad players just to give stupid wages simply to warm the bench. We tried and failed with Petrov so that was unlucky and we've just got to get on with things.
  18. Who cares? If he goes soon it will be to a lower league which will be about right. I cannot see anybody in the Prem other than maybe Watford showing any interest in buying him. No cos you'd definitely take that over as well. I don't mind poor quality postings so much but stupidity and ignorance really ticks me off.
  19. Stupid thread. There is already one to discuss our summer outs and ins. The only reason for allowing this to continue is that it might allow the instigator his own personal thread and might just keep him off the others.
  20. No different Macca..... You must just have learned to read more slowly this summer. May not be an excuse, I never said that it was ....but it's certainly a very valid reason. It really does make one hell of a difference and helps more physical, less talented and slower players no end.
  21. I didn't go so feel free to correct me but........... 1. Hmmm.... we draw yet another blank and Bellamy couldn't even get on the bench for his super duper favourite boyhood hero club today! Unless he is injured (which I am led to believe is not the case). Just serves to re-affirm my belief that squads should be restricted to a max of 24 players. Big / wealthy clubs just sign players in order to stop them playing for anybody else. It's immoral and the Prem in it's own best interests should stop it. 2. Nobody has mentioned this but it appears that that dodgy git Warnock in recognising his sides poverty of talent has narrowed the Bramhall Lane pitch! Very difficult for footballing teams to 'play'. The prem should be frowning on this type of tactic. 3. Nice to see my personal pick of the summer signings in terms of value Jeffers having a decent game. 4. Experience means that I can never trust penalty takers who only take 1 or 2 steps in their run up! (Mike Harrison apart eh Jim?) 5. 3 pens and none of em valid! Thats not careless it's criminal! I even though Kishishvalli was the one being fouled! Still in the longer term if it stops all this shirt tugging and wrestling then maybe it's for the best. But just like players who have bad un's the ref and the linesman need a month or so in the lower divisions.
  22. Must say that in my youth I had a few scouse mates and when they got p1ssed up (any) 2 usually ended up battling. Always very quick to resort to fisticuffs the lot of em. But it never meant much cos they were mates again within 2/3 days. btw I'll bet Rooney possesses quite a fair old punch.
  23. err 1 week after the transfer window shut! Yeah right rtm. Anyway what happened if it turns out to be at Rooney's instigation? Do you reckon Man Utd will get rid of him? Nothing like a good old fashioned overreation eh?
  24. Maybe he brought his missus to Blackburn on a Saturday shopping trip to see how she liked the town?
