Just reflecting on Curbs comments on MOTD, when he criticised the ref and linesman for missing Dickovs 'offside' goal. 1. It was very close to call and imo when the ball was played it was definitely headed and not deflected by the Charlton defenders head. Therefore it was 'played on'. 2. Although Dickov was just in front of the first defender at the time the ball was played the replay showed that the linesman could not see 'air' in between them. 3. Unless there was selected editing he made absolutely no mention of the nailed on handball that both ref and linesman missed. He needs to rem it could and should have been 5! -
Utd have won the battle but I fear the wars already over.

Well done scotty. Thats much better. So nice to see you have learned that counting to 10 whilst taking slow deep breaths is often the best policy Try to keep it up you'll feel much better for it in the long term.
-
Can you not make a post without some sort of snidey or rude comment Scotty? You are the same not just on this thread but on them all! You strike me as nothing more than a bully and I am suprised that you have not yet been taken to task on this board by the powers that be. I suppose you are simply 'in with the in crowd' eh? As for BRISA I hope it succeeds, something certainly needs to support the inequal battle of keeping BRFC dining at footballs top table. BUT I feel somewhat disinclined to join whilst you are playing any part of it.

I'll have a go flopsy. Was it Stephen Reid being man of the match? Or 'Rampant Rovers' sounding like a sex toy! -

The match was truly enjoyable and the players should be credited for hitting top note, Charlton too played their part in making the game entertaining and tense too. Even at 3-1 I could not totally relax, thankfully Bellamy put any anxiety it to bed before the end. But imo certain things need pointing out. 1. Tugay was brilliant and his supreme abilities on the ball are no surprise to any of us. BUT imo Charlton did a very bad job on him. We all know that to man mark Toogs is the best way of stifling his influence. They had 5 men in midfield but Curbishly obviously didn't deem it fit to sacrifice one of them on doing a man-marking task on Toogs. Big mistake for someone so frequently put forward as a possible English manager. 2. I hope Brad's performance answered last weeks topic criticising him. He made some fantastic saves at very important times in the game. I think we can concentrate on using funds in other areas for some time yet, unless heaven forbid he picks up a long term injury in which case I would have serious concerns. 3. Lucas Neil is having a very good season without doubt. Personally I have always rated him as he is tough, athletic and rarely absent through injury which is most important but rarely mentioned in assessing players talents. imo his biggest weakness is in his concentration level. Yesterday Charlton scored because he was 'asleep' and appeared to be holding hands with Zurab when he missed the through ball that led to Charltons goal. Another possibly unfair but imo valid criticism is that he and Kuqi need to practice their shooting from an angle. Both continually insist on going for the near post when %age wise shots across the keeper yield more threat. 4. It was obviously a nailed on penalty but I won't criticise the ref for missing it because it was on his blind side. BUT I WILL criticise the stupid lineman who MUST have seen it yet chose to chicken out of helping the ref out. 5. Biggest and most concerning criticism of our defence was that we hardly won a header from a cross or corner all afternoon. We could and should have been punished more severely on another day. Whats happened to em? Surely losing Nelson should not affect the rest of em so much should it? 6. Finally what a different player Emerton is following his time playing second fiddle to Bentley. All credit to Hughes for metaphorically kicking him up the arse. Emerton has always possessed much talent but it appears that he is obviously well short of self motivation and comittment. Now Sparky has him sused I expect good things from him. -

From directly in line it was an unbelievable miss! We were already 'up' ready to cheeer. Harder to do what he did than score imo. And TV slow motion made it look an even worse miss. Thank goodness the 3 points didn't depend on it. -

I thought you would have us down for an easy win now that your pet hate 'Lily' is not playing waggy. -
This all smells of Keane manipulating his early exit from MU and probable pay-out. He will no doubt have been advised to do so by his agent who will already have another lucrative deal lined up for him at Celtic where any move would be closely linked to merchandising and shirt deals etc which would nett him an absloute fortune from the pockets of their worldwide fan base. We already know that loyalty and 'sticking to his word' mean absolutely nothing to Roy Keane, kicking MU and their fans in the teeth will not cause him to lose a minutes sleep either. Too much of the Tink about him imo. If I were to be mischievous I would suggest that he has already become just another member of the despised prawn sarnie brigade himself. I did suggest on here 2-3 years ago when MU had just won the Prem for their last time and the Arse were understood to be in financial difficulties with the plans for their new ground that MU should break the bank to get Arsenals best player Patrick Vierra as Keane was showing signs of being over the hill even then. If that had happened MU would prob still be within reach of Chelsea and Arse would prob have also lost Henry and be struggling for a champions league place. 2 birds with one stone that Fergie cocked up on. Oh well never mind eh? As for him at BRFC? No way we are better than that.

I'm glad you like him cos I damn well don't on the basis that he's built us quite a reputation in the media too. -
Lets face it his entire transfer to us was a crooked scam right from the beginning. If he suffered a career threatening injury I'd be down the local celebrating.

Offer him a new contract all you want but just like with Duff, he would insist on it including a get out clause should the big boys come a calling. Thats football nowadays where for some unknown reason contracts only ever work one way. -
Imo all this rubbishing Brad is partly down to him being so damned good in the past?
-
1. Still worthy of his place imo. Terry's head was a midges dick off the cross andCisse's free kick went in because we were one man down in the wall. 2. Also the defence has confidence in him which shows and which is most important. 3. We do not have the luxury of a good keeper waiting in the wings have we? 4. Van de Sar? He's made more mistakes than Brad by far! (could be a line from a song) 5. Lets go back 4 months and consider the dilemma we had........ we had the multi-talented strike force of Dickov, Jansen, Gallagher, Johnson and Stead, and we have very limited funds so should we go for either Craig Bellamy, Benni McArthy or should we sign a keeper? It was a no brainer was it? 6. Rev to give your point some credence can you suggest a keeper that we could sign in Jan that a. would come, b. that we could afford and c. who is better than Friedal? imho we should be looking to replace Enckleman before we can consider dropping Friedal.

from the earlier link......... JOHN TERRY: COME AND HAVE A GO IF YOU THINK YOU'RE HARD ENOUGH Blues skipper keen to put record straight against Rovers By Martin Lipton JOHN TERRY last night warned Blackburn that Chelsea's wounded lions will not be "bullied" out of their unbeaten Premiership record tomorrow. Terry and the rest of Jose Mourinho's Blues were yesterday coming to terms with the rare taste of defeat after their Carling Cup shoot-out exit at the hands of Charlton. The spot-kick loss came just four days after the champions dropped their first points of the season at Everton, which saw Goodison striker James Beattie claiming his team had shown the way for the rest of the Premiership to follow. But with Chelsea memories of last February's brutal battle of Ewood Park still fresh, Terry told Beattie that he was speaking nonsense. He said: "I saw that Beattie said Everton had worked us out and that by battling us and getting among us they were able to equal us and get a result. But if Beattie or anybody else thinks that by coming and battling and trying to bully us they can get anything, the message is clear - we're up for it. "We can take on anybody in a physical battle and we will win. And then we will get the ball down and play football and we will win that as well." Terry and his colleagues will not forget the physical intimidation they had to withstand at Ewood Park, when Arjen Robben's season was wrecked by a shocking foul from Aaron Makoena. The England centre-half himself clashed with David Thompson and Paul Dickov while a series of running skirmishes saw Mourinho's men - who celebrated with a post-match huddle before being ordered by the manager to throw their shirts to their fans - fined by the FA Fighting talk eh? I understand much of that bravado appeared in Wed nights match programme. Just the sort of stupid comments to wind the the Chelsea nutters up to fever pitch. I wonder what the media reaction would have been if our captain Todd had made similarly aggressive remarks? Tempting fate perhaps but Robben certainly seems to have lost a certain something since his Ewood injury. Shocking foul by Mokoena?! Rollocks! What about Essiens of last week or Terry's on the keeper? Both were totally pre meditated whilst Mokoena's challenge was neither pre meditated nor was it penalised by a free kick, it was imo simply poorly timed. -

Play deep with 4-5-1 to combat their pace. Todd and ? need to be protected by the axe, whilst Brad and the defence need to practice facing Lampards free kicks cos a noisy Chelsea crowd, a non existent Rovers crowd and a weak ref will probably mean there will be plenty. I've said it before on here but I really dislike Chelsea fans. They know nowt about football and since the Russian turned up have turned into the most spoilt, spiteful and churlish fans in the league. -

But wasn't the proceeds for Ferguson related directly to the amount that we paid for him? Whatever........ results suggest that we are better off as a squad nowadays that we were at any time of the past 2 - 3 years. -

Please don't continually slaughter Kuqi and Dickov Rev, they may not be the best but are probably the best we can afford with our measly crowds of less than Wigan! Sure Bellamy's got class thats why we paid big bucks for him! I wonder if the decision was made today given our alarming slump in attendances whether or not the powers that be would still sanction that sort of money for him? Your remarks do not really reflect the facts either, we are in the top half of the Prem with 14 points yet Bellamy has just made a sub appearence in only his 3rd game and scored his first goal! His class is unmistakeable but rem he similarly skied one high and wide near the end. I think that those 3 complement each others ability quite well and can each bring sufficient differences to the overall style of play. We def need to keep Bellamy fit by using him sparingly and those two allow for that tactic just fine. Save your ire for Bentley because he appears to be most unwilling to put the necessary graft in and that is totally unforgivable in my book.
