I would go with a midfield three of Tronstad, Wharton, and Garret. A front three of Sigurdsson, Leonard, and Szmodic.

I agree with you about Wahlstedt. What he is really missing at the moment, is self-confidence. I don't know what needs to be done to give it to him, but whatever is being done at the moment, isn't working.

it is really a back three made up of our two center-halves and the defensive midfielder. With our two full-backs pushed forward into half-backs. the two central midfielders play slightly more forward than normal. the forwards just mill about. It means that about 70% of the team are playing out of their accostumed positions, hence we are awful at the back.

That is how most transfers at our level work.

The examples you gave were probably the best in their positions at the time. Travis is not the best in his favoured position at the club. We do not have the luxury of being able to afford an expensive back-up player. If that leads to a weak squad, then that is what we have to live with. It is not so much about the abilities of the players, but the clubs ability to pay them.

Personally I will wait to see how the signings perform before judging whether our squad is weaker or not.

Forget the wartime retoric, I would fancy playing football matches with the best available players. JDT must think Travis is not one of those.
