  1. This sort of result was predicted by a few of the older sages who have seen this type of thing happen many many times. It almost mirrored the Charlton game for me when our play was slow and predictable with very little intensify. I honestly point the finger at the players for this. I really believe that the attitude, on the back of two decent results and a game against a poor team, was questionable from the majority of players. Our decision making was poor with far too many wrong choices by many. I was massively disappointed by our passing today with far too many of the wrong weight, balls passed behind players or just giving it away. Armstrong was poor today and I was amazed he didn't get the hook. Gallagher and Lenihan weren't far behind with Walton making the simple things difficult. I hadn't a clue what our shape was in the last fifteen minutes. Mowbray just seemed to throw players on within a plan or too much thought. It's back to basics for me on Tuesday with Graham up top and Dack in and around him. Holtby has to start and if he plays Downing and Armstrong at least have them on their correct wings.
  2. Despicable, horrible man. He should never have been anywhere near our great club but the idiots gave him the keys to the castle and he revelled in the justified hatred towards him. Hopefully in the future we could celebrate a Venky's Out day too.
  3. I understand ambition but Jones was held in such high esteem at Luton the fans would have accepted a couple of seasons of doom. Quite simply he over achieved in my opinion. He simply hasn't got that good grace at Stoke where expectations are high. I fear the Cowley brothers could go the same way at Huddersfield. Stoke play Huddersfield on Tuesday.
  4. Which games will they be on sale at please?
  5. Watching Stoke last night their manager reminded me of Coyle with his touchline antics. He was continuously jumping up and down, gesticulating and extremely furtive. I actually thought it was for the benefit of the cameras and crowd. Similar to Coyle it's almost like being visually enthusiastic will win people over. He just looks hopelessly out of his depth.
  6. It sounds almost West Country to me.
  7. It gets worse. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/richard-keogh-out-season-injury-20248378 Still they have Rooney coming in January to keep their drinking club going. Keogh's injury could lead to Lenihan or Williams getting a run in the ROI team.
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-49828113 This is a strange one. The fact that both of them have been charged and two cars were involved suggests they were each driving the cars. Either way it looks like they have been extremely lucky not to be seriously hurt.
  9. Normally wages are commensurate with transfer fees so I would have thought the likes of Gallagher and Brereton came in on decent money. Dack has earned his new deals and proved himself and should be our highest paid player.
  10. We pay £3.50 return from Darwen and these buses are organised independently by a couple of fans. It's hassle free and hugely beneficial with no parking to look for and getting dropped off and picked up within a few minutes walk of Ewood. From the clubs perspective organising buses could encourage more supporters particularly the old and infirm and it's helps to keep the Ewood area less congested. If Rovers are serious about increasing the fan base they have to drive initiatives and not rely solely on fans.
  11. I had a vague recollection of him moving but didn't check. Just looking further it appears that Stoke paid his contract up with a reported £2m payoff. They also paid £12m for him.
  12. And they still have some big earners who are contributing nothing. Berahino on £80k weekly for example. https://www.spotrac.com/epl/stoke-city-f.c/payroll/#
  13. The opening sentence is so true Philip. We should be looking no further than the next game and all the focus should be on that. Luton will provide us with tough opposition and although they have a propensity to concede they can score too. And Rovers fans of long standing know from was experiences that we can make hard work of what are eminently winnable games. I'll take a win of any description.
  14. But it's always exaggerated as to how many wanted him sacked. Can you tell me how many people actually called for his head? Most of the posts I read were genuine concerns and some, as yet are unfounded but the season is a long and arduous process with many turns. I heard one City supporter calling for Guardiola to be sacked last week. That is how some fans think but sometimes there needs to be context as the vast majority do don't.
  15. Most of the fans on here who expressed concerns about Mowbray will be happy to be proved wrong because, surprise surprise they are desperate to see Rovers doing well. And I am one of those who had doubts but there is going to be some taking of moral high ground by some posters which I find sad. I don't get carried away though and I know that our bi polar form of last season can be around the corner.
  16. For me today was easily the best performance of the season and ones of the better away performances of Mowbrays tenure. A couple of 9's, lots of 8's and a couple of 7's in terms of performance was key to this but almost as pleasing as that was the work date which I thought was exceptional. I know it should be a given but today it stood out like a beacon. Although today was about a team effort I have to single out Bradley Dack who once again was outstanding. He was like a terrier snapping around them and at times his skill level was on another plane to the other players. Stewart Downing was also outstanding and marines mockery of anyone who doubted him (me included).
  17. Come on Philip. Gallagher had a season away between his spells here and Chapman had half a season. I'm talking about loans turned into permanent straight away.
  18. I would agree pre Venky's. I can't recall too many loans who became permanent since they rocked up.
  19. It looks like there is dissent amongst the ranks. Hopefully Waggott is with them otherwise we will get left behind. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49771802 And in other EFL news. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49762170
  20. I heard today that on Saturday 18th April we are at Millwall. On the same day Burnley are at West Ham and Nobbers are at Brentford. That is surprising given that we normally alternate home fixtures with that lot. Euston Station could be lively.
  21. He looks like he has all the pieces - hopefully Mowbray can put them together. I can't say I remember him playing over here but reading this thread he sounds promising. We really need to pay Smallwood up now and cancel his contract to let him move on.
  22. That was one of the low points of the season for me. Reading were arguably the worst side in the Championship last season and we only took one point against them. Mowbray should take the brakes off for this game and get at them from the start. Somehow though I don't think he will. If anybody is planning on going I have a couple of spare seats in my car and will be leaving around 9.30. Please PM if you are interested.
  23. When we got relegated the season ticket price stayed the same despite an awful season and I don't think the sales suffered too much. After promotion the prices went up by around 18%and sparked some real debate about the justification for it. From a club point of view it was naive in the extreme and Waggott and Co tried to justify by saying we were in the Championship. They simply didn't cash in on the feel good factor after promotion and on the back of a sell out against Oxford. I think Waggott completely misjudged the local people and instead of speaking to supporters about how attendances can be improved he went ahead with a significant and unjustified increase. There have been lots of good ideas on the various attendance threads which Waggott would do well to read and cherry pick the more practical and workable ones. I find it ironic that we got slapped with a large increase whilst the people who decided on that increase don't pay for their attendance. In fact the likes of Waggott and Cheston will more than likely be wined and dined too.
  24. If he has travelled by car from Germany surely it would be a left hand drive so it appears that the driver took the picture.
