  1. Are you referring to us as a pair Andy or my 'joke' ?
  2. I've actually met a few who are well balanced. They have a chip on both shoulders (where Rovers are concerned at least). ?
  3. And you too mate. It's good to have a sensible, balanced dingle posting on here.
  4. Friedel sacked. The article mentions him as a former Liverpool and Tottenham goalkeeper with no mention of Rovers. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12096/11715685/former-tottenham-and-liverpool-goalkeeper-brad-friedel-sacked-by
  5. The laws dictate that kits should be distinguishable between the two teams and match officials. From memory I think the PL relaxed on the colour of shorts but the EFL didn't. I can't think of an EFL match I have seen where the shorts have been the same colour. Official teamsheets state the colour of shirts, shorts and socks as well as keepers colours. The referee could insist on changes at this stage to prevent any problems later.
  6. I once had a conversation with an ex Rovers manager who told me that planning for a window starts immediately the previous one has closed. The process begins with identifying players in areas that need strengthening and the list can be exhaustive but prioritised. An idea of their value, wages etc is added and this gave him an indication of potential spend against his budget. As soon as possible contact is made through agents. Sometimes the players demands or fee his club are asking will curtail the deal and the club would move onto their next target. The key to this is the manager knowing his budget. It doesn't sound like Mowbray knows what he has to spend.
  7. A game for the real fans eh? It's a game for the sponsors and corporates and UEFA are a disgrace charging them prices. If Rovers were in the Champions League final I honestly wouldn't pay that.
  8. It was nice to see a Rovers team lifting a trophy particularly by beating them. Rovers didn't play too well on the night and at times overplayed in the wrong areas but it was a game I always felt we would win. Burnley to be fair pressed high up the pitch and frustrated us for long periods (much like their first team) but the extra quality was there to be seen. Well done to Damien Johnson on a successful season. Four of his players made their first team debuts and ultimately that is what he is judged on.
  9. In the Premier League next season the referee will not look at any screens. The decision will be made for him by a VAR sat in a studio at Stockley Park. This was what the CEO's of the clubs wanted. For me it abdicates the referee of the responsibility of making big decisions either in real time or a review on a pitch monitor. People who are expecting a utopian situation of every decision being correct are in for a shock. VAR is certainly no exact science.
  10. In fairness Lenihan slipped for the second. However the number of goals conceded over the last two seasons from crosses is ludicrous. I'd also like to see our wide players do a bit more to stop them coming in.
  11. Lancashire FA set the prices. Given the extra security, portaloo's etc that they have they to pay for will struggle to make much money. I think they saw a quick buck to be made and it could backfire on them.
  12. I thought this match deserving of it's own thread. Ordinarily I wouldn't agree but as it's a final and against the Troglodytes then winning becomes all that matters. On paper we should win. We have the quality and experience and stuffing them at anything matters. As of this morning there were less than 600 tickets sold.
  13. Williams has become a bit of a conundrum for most of us and probably includes Mowbray. At left back he was average at best but he has excelled at centre half and been our best player over the last half dozen or so games. If we get a couple of decent centre backs he would slip down the order but maybe his form has caused Mowbray to have a rethink on recruitment in that position.
  14. I think any football club would have seriously questioned the manager after a run of one win in eleven (which included nine defeats) John. The points total is decent but let's assume the bad run came through August, September and October instead of towards the end of the season when we were quite safe. I do believe Mowbray (or any manager) would have been sacked then. Going forward he has identified areas of improvement which most have seen as weak for some time. I really hope he can bring in the right players to eradicate the concession of soft goals. He can't afford to waste money on any more Gladwins or Whittinghams. He needs more Dacks and Rothwells.
  15. Reporter driven by the imposter jock hack.
  16. I thought the game today summed up our season. We started strongly, tailed off and finished well. My main disappointment about not winning is that Nobbers finish above us. Our main problem of conceding cheap goals was once again apparent as two poor crosses ended up in our net. I know Lenihan slipped for the second but that aside there wasn't a Rovers player within three yards of him. Davenport was good and reminded me of Reed with his stature and work rate. This summer is Mowbray's most important period in charge for me. The signings have to be right and in the correct areas. If not then we could be in for a long season, if he does then we can kick on. Over to you Mogga.
  17. He could be another one we have to pay up to terminate his contract or send him out on loan and subsidise his wages.
  18. If Bassini tries to enter the Forest boardroom today the security have been told to refuse him entry according to Mark Iles of Bolton News.
  19. They have a really nice ground and training facilities but as you say Jim a succession of Bassini types have been allowed to get involved and the result is non league football. I remember a player for them called Paul Deviln who was decent. He had a pet snake which he called Derek after the then chairman Derek Pavis.
  20. It's typical Nixon and the way he steals a living peddling nonsense. He knows we are after a keeper, he knows Hart will be available. In Nixon's world 2+2 equals 5.
  21. At his best he was an average Championship player. Giving him a new contract shouldn't be on Mowbray's agenda. If we are to progress we simply have to bring betting players in. I will be disappointed if he gets a new deal.
  22. I'm absolutely with you on this. They sacked good honest people and let charlatans run the club. Several times. I will never be beholden to them for the damage they have caused. I believe the damage to be irreparable.
  23. If you send them to LTalbot@rovers.co.uk and ask her to forward to Steve Waggott. Lynsey is the supporter liaison.
  24. I hope the club has listened/read what fans have said about season tickets and prices. Now hopefully there is a real marketing of these all over the county. New signings will help so I really hope we have some in place before the deadline for anybody who might be wavering.
  25. And Brentford have been awarded a one nil win. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48151016
