Ideally I think we need Mulgrew and Lenihan fit for this as QPR have some decent strikers namely Wells, Hemed and the giant Smith. I saw them beat Aston Villa on Friday and was surprised to hear that they haven't conceded for three games and only conceded two in five. It seems that their two centre backs, Leistner and Lynch are of the more robust variety so I think it's imperative that Danny Graham starts to try and counter this. I would be tempted to play Palmer in the number ten role after his second half performance against West Brom.

I thought he said it on Radio Lancashire too.

The more I think about it the more surreal it becomes. His oversized shirt and gloves, his apparent lack of knowledge on the back pass rule and his general demeanour made him appear like anything but a keeper. For anybody who remembers the football scene from Kes we might have the new Billy Casper.

WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH

For me we need a fulcrum to the team, a conduit who other players feed off and that man is Danny Graham and maybe Brereton in time. Dack doesn't look half the player when he is in the role he was asked to play yesterday and I would argue that with a genuine number nine we could have won yesterday. In the circumstances and as the game unfolded I was delighted with a point but I (and every other fan I spoke to in the ground pre match) was confused and perplexed by the team he selected. I watched Derby destroy West Brom last week without changing their game or personnel too much. The only difference I noticed was a high pressing game. By his own admission Mowbray over thinks and his tactics sometimes show this. -

I have seen some teams play this false nine but I honestly don't know what the benefit is. Why do you think Mowbray opted for this system and what were the benefits to us? -

Great minds Leonard although your Alzheimer's doesn't seem as advanced as mine as I wasn't entirely sure about Dino. -

Roger Jones was replaced by an outfield player (Don Martin?) in the annihilation at Shrewsbury in the early 70's. I also have an image of David Mail in goal. Over to Meadows for the answers. -

I'd imagine Mowbray is as self critical as any other manager. He will analyse his own decisions and discuss them with his staff. That's what every good manager I've worked for does. The arrogant one's who thought they were always right didn't get the backing of their staff. -
I don't want to rain on anybody's parade but this is Rovers we are talking about here Matty. I suspect you have been around long enough to expect the unexpected which, despite the frustrations sometimes is what avidly following a football club is about. For me it's the old 'one game at a time' cliche and see where we end up. Disclaimer: Hopefully no positive supporters were hurt in the writing of this post ?

I won if Smallwood is entitled to a share of Raya's clean sheet bonus?. -

At the time of Raya's injury we had used all our substitutes. When Williams went down we envisaged us going down to nine men but I think Williams was being cute. -

Having seen the Rodriguez 'challenge' on Raya again on TV I have no doubt he has intentionally done him. Raya clearly has the ball and Rodriguez leaves his foot in. The referee thought it was a foul as he gave a free kick. How he hasn't been carded is amazing. I don't buy this not that type of player nonsense. His inflammatory reaction in front of us after West Broms goal should have seen some action from the referee. -

Spirit and attitude can take anybody a long way in sport and we have both in abundance. However I defy anybody to tell me they weren't surprised at the starting eleven and tactics. This false nine thing is a modern fad probably thought up by some coach to do something which had never been done but I think it's absolute nonsense. Dack was anonymous in the first half and just didn't seem to understand where he was supposed to be playing. Only when Palmer played in the 10 role in the second half did Dack come to life as he has somebody to play with. The second half was as good as I can remember for a long time. The tenacity and aggression was wonderful as we dominated the game with some great football most of which had Reed, Rothwell and Palmer behind it. If I knew beforehand that we would be playing with a back three of Bell, Williams and Travis for a long period I would have had kittens but they were really good. The gods conspired against us today but we beat them too. I asked a Rovers player after the game how David Raya was and he said he had broken his nose. Maybe he can play in a Phantom of the Opera mask next week. And having just seen the challenge the ex Dingle could have pulled out of that but quite simply didn't. That tells me all I need to know. A good day to be at the Hawthorns today and it's great to be feeling proud of being a Rover. -
Some very good points. Sometimes posters take things completely out of context and miss the points being made because they see any constructive comment as negative and critical. Watching Brereton in matches recently his body language is anything but confident which contradicts what Mowbray says about him in training.

A Mowmance perhaps? ?

Derby winning 2-0 at West Bromwich and pressing high so West Bromwich can't launch their passing game from defence. Hopefully Mowbray will have clocked this and plays the same way.

I was told by the Blackburn Police 'Spotter' who was given the information by the bus driver. And to give it credence the Bobby actually stayed in the same hotel as Rovers. Hopefully everyone trusts a Policeman. -

They went down on Monday but the journey took seven hours. A good nights sleep and light training session on Tuesday morning should have prepared them perfectly. I imagine the journey home would have been six hours so I would expect them to be off today. -

After giving probably the most inept performance I have seen from a Championship side this season it was clear that the Swansea manager was going to change things at half time. They allowed us to dominate the ball and stood off us for long periods. That changed with the introduction of their substitutes and the began to dominate midfield and stretch us creating more room for their midfield runners. I thought Mowbray should have addressed this by bringing on Rothwell to play in a central midfield three. I thought the bringing on of Brereton actually weakened us and coincided with Swansea enjoying a spell of dominance. Mowbray made some strange tactical decisions I though last night particularly after getting it spot on against Leeds. Hopefully he can come up with a plan to get a result at west Brom now. For the travelling Rovers fans it was a long day. We decided to come back through Mid Wales to avoid motorway closures and we drove along sheep lines roads and cattle grids on what were A roads. Despite that we were back around 2.40 am which I thought was decent. -

Nearer to five I would have thought. I too am thinking of going down that way but I almost certainly will come back that way to avoid any unannounced night motorway closures. -
Only one statistic counts. We scored 66% of the goals. Statistics are usually used by losing managers trying to justify something or other. In reality they count for nothing.

The goals aside that incident drew probably the loudest applause of the day. The simple stuff is sometimes the most effective. -
Every walk on today should be contacted by the club next week pushing half season tickets. Strike whilst the iron is hot.

In a tense afternoon at Ewood there was a real moment of light relief when the Leeds substitute Hernadez went down like he had been hit by a Sherman Tank. His rolling around and absurd histrionics made us all laugh and seemed to embarrass sections of the Leeds support. -

Thanks Jack. Getting his fifth today wouldn't have been a disaster for me as he looked like he was running on fumes late in the game. Sitting out Swansea on Tuesday might have been beneficial in the line run.
