  1. Better trying to find someone who can supply a killer pass if we're up against it.
  2. We already have one carthorse in Gallagher if we want to go down that route in the last segment of games. Why would we want another older, more expensive one?
  3. Not for me at all personally. As Tyrone rightly says we've (thankfully) moved away from the hoofing the ball up to a big lump model and our style of play is way better now imo. Secondly he's 30 and has only scored 3 goals this season. Is he past his best? Thirdly he'd presumably have to be on big money wage wise by our standards. For the sort of money we'd have to pay him there must surely be better up and coming options or players at the peak of their prowess available somewhere rather than ones already slightly on the downgrade.
  4. Any sign of BB's contract extension being triggered or are we all still on holiday?
  5. Agreed, we need a bit of star quality, a bit of swagger. Our new Eyal Berkovic or our own Eric Cantona if you will. What we don't need are journeymen that aren't as good as the players we already have. Is Park a big proponent of the Moneyball system? Identifying someone who once showed talent but who's fallen off the rails for some reason and believing we can get a tune out of them where everyone else has failed? Because we'd be taking massive gambles imo with Souttar given his horrific injury record and Burke given the fact he would appear to have some sort of underlying issues which are preventing him from realising his potential.
  6. "Influencer girlfriend" - that probably tells you all you need to know about his character and why he appears to have tanked everywhere he's gone.
  7. Couldn't agree more. As I've said before Mowbray is employed as manager of Blackburn Rovers to do what's best for the Club, not act in the best interests of BBD or any other individual player. That's the job of the players' agents. Could be an exciting few months if no-one leaves and we can make a couple of quality additions. Not really buzzing at the thought of the likes of Souttar/Hedges/Burke though.
  8. About time but good on them nonetheless. Perhaps Mowbray can stop bleating on about how he wouldn't stand in BBD's way if a decent offer came in for him and start telling us how he plans to strengthen for a genuine tilt at promotion now.
  9. You're not seriously comparing Lenihan, Nyambe and Rothwell to the likes of Graham, Mulgrew, Bennett and Evans are you? There"s no comparison whatsoever primarily due to their respective ages.
  10. For me it would only be a remote possibility if Newcastle came in for him, No-one else who's likely to want him could afford him and my asking price in January would be £50m. If you don't want to pay it, sod off, and we'll wave at you on the way down as we go past the other way.
  11. Can't see any valid argument at all in favour of selling him in January. If we don't go up by the end of the season it's a somewhat different proposition. We'll have more time and choice to secure a replacement and shouldn't lose that much by retaining him until summer unless Newcastle go completely ballistic with a one time only offer now in a desperate attempt to stay up. Barring a career ending injury the player himself wouldn't be suffering either by hanging on here for a few more months.
  12. Why should he not be offered a similar wage to "senior" players? He is a "senior" player now, every bit as integral to the success of the side as anyone else! OK, maybe he isn't worth quite as much as a 30 goal a season striker but if he hasn't been offered rough parity with other first team members (like the frankly useless Gallagher) you can't blame him for not accepting at this stage. I have no idea what he has actually been offered or not offered before anyone asks.
  13. Exactly this. All this "we can bring in better players than these three for less money" is pie in the sky talk. We CAN replace them obviously. We probably however wouldn't be able to replace them with the same quality without spending a hell of a lot of money. Then any replacements might not hit the ground running instantly and might upset the spirit within the dressing room making the changes completely counter productive.
  14. Absolute garbage imo. Pickering has done OK but Nyambe is a far better player. Hopefully we're crawling towards a resolution on at least a couple of the three by now as I fear losing any of them in January could derail any hopes of promotion and it's imperative we keep them all until the end of the season at the very least. If however we did lose them I fear Nyambe would be the hardest to replace within our budget for similar quality. I think it would probably be easiest to find a passable replacement for Lenihan and if we lost Rothwell we might be able to manage for creativity to an extent by bringing in Dack and/or Butterworth. Like I say, imperative none go anywhere this month for me however, whether they agreed new deals or not.
  15. On Gallagher we should be tying down assets and divesting ourselves of liabilities. Of which he is one. Not the other way round.
  16. If Hull allegedly couldn't fulfill a fixture against us due to Covid, how can they do so against Blackpool just 6 days later? What a joke.
  17. I would allow exemptions in the case of the Dingles and Man Ure though.
  18. Up until that most recent comment every utterance from Mowbray on BBD has sounded like a "He's for sale, please come and get him plea". I think me and Gav are on exactly the same page on this issue, with the best chance of returning to the PL in a decade in the offing no-one should be leaving in January new contracts agreed or not. If they do then it wouldn't say much for the owners' long term ambitions for the Club despite noises to the contrary. On the flip side, would people be prepared to give them some grudging credit if, as we all hope, no-one goes and a couple of decent extra bodies come in?
  19. Not seen the entire article but hopefully from the comment from the manager (finally) about how we're not looking to sell BB, Mowbray has had a bollocking off the owners about his previous interviews about he wouldn't stand in his way if an offer from a PL Club came in yada yada. We might just be getting there by default.
  20. In an ideal world it would be hilarious if Venky's gave Fulham £30m + of f u money for Mitrovic and decided to deal with the FFP consequences at a later date. It won't happen but I think they theoretically could if the move was a realistic possibility. Solanke's a strange one. Whenever I've seen him on Sky I think he looks absolutely dreadful but his goal record this season is good.
  21. I'd put him in with Wilshere in the "don't touch with a ten foot barge pole" Category. I thought your previous suggestion of Gayle was a decent one.
  22. Or that their agents are being somewhat unrealistic maybe. The suggestion above has primarily come from you with little evidence tbf.
  23. Clarkson back, Gilmour in would be a great shout imo. Wouldn't touch Wilshere with a 10 ft bargepole.
  24. I'd give Butterworth a lot more minutes. If Dack comes back anywhere near his best then obviously that would be a huge bonus but I don't think we should take it for granted.
