  1. Ross Barkley has just left Chelsea by mutual consent. I don't know what's gone wrong with him but worth a look as the Rothwell type replacement?
  2. We need to do the usual around this time of year, kidnap him and lock him in a cupboard in a secret location for 72 or so more hours until the window closes. Why do you care about the price? Is it your money?
  3. The question for me has to be (when fit) who plays with Wharton? He's so good that he makes it easy for whoever is playing alongside him. No coincidence that with him in we've won 3 and without him lost 3. There was that remarkable stat last year as well for a long time of never having lost a game when he's started. If Hyam's any use the pecking order would be Wharton/Hyam/Ayala/ Phillips/ Carter for me.
  4. That's it then........ We'd obviously better sign Nuttall back. Or sometimes your career stats suggests you're just not that good and they're not far wrong. Comparisons to Birtles are downright silly. Birtles looked the bees knees before he went to Utd, it just didn't work out for him there. However he had already shone at the SAME level. This lad at age 23 has done NOTHING previously at this level. Indeed none in 32 is a little more than coincidence or a hard luck story it suggests Championship football is well beyond him.
  5. That's Noel in a Spurs shirt as a young lad.
  6. Substitute (Scott) Wharton for Ayala and I mostly agree with the above.
  7. Partially agree. Would have preferred JPVH (permanently) to Hyam or SVDB. Think us and Brighton were a LONG way apart on valuations. (Maybe more their fault than ours) However now we've signed Hyam, not sure we need SVDB. Think Phillips is finding his feet quite quickly tbh. Edit: Definitely didn't want Caulker anyway.
  8. Unless I'm mistaken he is a striker and has made 31 or 32 appearances at this level and has failed to find the net. Joe Nuttall has a better record than this guy. Would you say we should be signing him back?
  9. Because you are unable to offer an argument in reply.
  10. You're obviously fishing for a bite but the relevant point is he has had an extended chance at Championship level and failed miserably. If he was someone showing potential (regardless of age) who had not yet had the opportunity to show what he could do in the Championship I might think it was more worthy of a gamble.
  11. I've offered an explanation. Have you anything factual to offer other than sarcasm?
  12. I've changed my mind. Impressive stats. 🙄 He's not a 19 year old with potential either like BBD was when we signed him. He's what, 23? Bit like hoping Gally at age 27 will suddenly become a prolific striker when he's only ever reached double figures once.
  13. I agree. For me it's already far too late for this window. He must not be sold. If we were mid table come January there would still be a possibility of selling him unless he was set on going abroad of which there's currently no indication. Wonder when the last time the Club engaged with him about the possibility of a new contract was? Not been much about it in the press.
  14. Is there any evidence anyone has bid anywhere near £15m yet? I'm led to believe the Nice "bid" if you can call it that was in the order of £4m plus odds and sods.
  15. You're surely not suggesting that Hirst (who has a record of no goals in 32 at Championship level) plus a random left winger would be an adequate replacement for BBD are you chaddy?
  16. Anyone put in a sensible bid for BBD that we know of yet?
  17. The fees for the players signed are widely reported as £1.5m £2.5m and £2.5m. Brereton's contract was allowed to run down before this summer. In that respect the horse has already partially bolted as it did with Lenihan, Nyambe and Rothwell. If BBD stays and no-one else at all comes in I would say that was less than what was required. If he stays and we signed a reasonable striker on a permanent basis and someone to offer a genuine threat on the right wing I would say against all the odds what was potentially looking like a disaster turned into a fairly decent window.
  18. Are you choking on your cornflakes because we've (so far) spent £6.5m without a BBD sale yet? 🙂
  19. Why would anyone hope BBD goes? Baffling. I'm praying we get through 4 more days and he's still here.
  20. I haven't actually heard any whispers about us ever being interested in Bowler whereas I think we've always been very interested in Styles. What was the reason Glen gave for any potential deal being held up a while back. Was it something to do with add ons?
  21. I actually thought the opposite to be fair, no-one even knew this deal was in the offing until Thursday evening was it? Completed by Sunday evening. A far cry from previous windows and if philli is to be believed a lot quicker even than the decision time for the Brittain deal. Perhaps the carrier pigeon winging his way wearily to and from Pune has been given his own private jet! 🙂
  22. "Not sure on Hirst, had mixed messages on that one" Lol: Roughly translates as "I haven't a bleedin' clue what's happening so I'll hedge my bets either way".
