  1. What a shame the proposed £1m move (to Swansea was it) for Williams never materialised in the summer.
  2. Been going since the end of 1970 and have seen many of our managers do way better than Mowbray on far less resources. You?
  3. That's the only justification you need to make the change isn't it? At least under ambitious owners. We'll certainly start to move backwards in summer when we limp in midtable again under Mowbray then his failure to keep the squad size under control and FFP begin to bite, Nyambe walks on a free and we are forced to sell a couple of Armstrong Travis or Dack.
  4. To shift Mowbray upstairs would be the worst possible idea, almost on a par with appointing Coyle as manager. "I've got this brilliant idea! Tony hasn't cut the mustard as manager (at least not at Championship level) so let's shunt him upstairs so he can impose his ideas and philosophies which haven't worked on the new man!"
  5. Great argument. Bilic has taken West Ham to 7th and 11 th in the Premier League and West Brom up from the Championship automatically in recent seasons. Mowbray can't even get us anywhere near the top 6. But of course you're right. You've won me over with your powerful line of reasoning.
  6. He's completely wasted Nyambe's talents and he'll probably walk for nothing on a free. Similarly it's nonsense imo to suggest that the likes of Travis and Nyambe wouldn't have become good players under a different manager. However, even if the players you list are as good as you seem to be insinuating they are, then surely you see a massive contradiction there, even with what you regard as a good squad we're still permanently mired in no man's land because no matter what the personnel Mowbray can't get any sort of consistent tune out of them whereas a decent manager might.
  7. If we get a decent manager in pronto before we lose all our better players - maybe.
  8. Completely worn down by it now. Seemingly we can find a win whenever it looks like he might get the sack, when we occasionally get into a half decent position, we can't find a result for love nor money. And no-one at the Club seems to care. And on an on we go in a never ending loop of mediocrity.
  9. Mowbray has been an incredibly lucky manager in recent seasons, whenever he looks to be going beyond the point of no return he seems to pull out a result, tonight unreservedly so, which keeps us limping on a while longer.
  10. To the extent he's under pressure, which I actually doubt, he's brought it upon himself with sub standard performances and results over a number of seasons. He's exceptionally lucky to still be in a job and quite possibly wouldn't be if we had a normal Chief Exec/Manager relationship where they were at arms length.
  11. Never in doubt. Give him a new 5 year contract. 🙄
  12. Good substitution of Dolan, "Go on lad no pressure, you've got 2 mins to score a goal." Ludicrous.
  13. Us (and Mowbray) limp on for another 6 months. When the goal went in my reaction was "oh bugger he's safe for another few months" I'll be cheering a winner though.
  14. 0-0 at home then a ludicrous substitution of Rothwell for Downing. And now 1 down. Surely even the most ardent Mowbray fan boys can't excuse this performance and result. Balaji, get on the blower and put us out of our misery.
  15. What has Downing done since his return, or indeed this calendar year, to warrant selection? I think Buckley looks an exceptional talent in terms of raw ability but has thus far flattered to deceive. Maybe, like Brereton he needs an extended run of games and not be dropped as soon as he has an indifferent outing. Out of Downing/Buckley/Trybull/Davenport I think Davenport has looked the most promising recently and I'm surprised he isn't getting more of a chance.
  16. I think that's a really weak argument, we're only seven points off 19th as well if you want to take the glass half empty approach. We're going to have to put quite a decent run together to actually break into and establish ourselves in the top 6 and the argument in favour of Mowbray always seems to be "if we plait sawdust for the rest of the season we can break into the top 6". We never have done thus far and I wouldn't say "only" being six points off the top six after only 18 games is some sort of badge of honour. There's nothing really to say with any degree of confidence that it's anymore likely that those 6 points won't extrapolate into 15 over a 46 game season rather than the other way round.
  17. We're not doing very well either. Lost a relatively high proportion of our games, and as many as we've won. I think most people would agree we have a better squad then in the last two seasons yet results remain disappointingly poor. It takes some doing to underperform no matter what calibre of player you have out there. The one common denominator is the manager who doesn't seem to have any sort of target other than being able to challenge for the play offs (whatever that means) at some unspecified point in the future. I think that's the root of the problem, the players are under no real pressure to perform, a couple of bad results and it's just a shrug of the shoulders and "We go again Wednesday" etc. "This time next year Rodney........"
  18. What's the point in wasting the rest of this season by allowing him to remain in charge?
  19. Amazed anyone buys this sort of "it takes ten years for anything good to happen" type nonsense. After getting promoted from the Championship to the Premier League through the play offs under Dalglish we finished 4th, 2nd and 1st. People would no doubt argue that was down to Jack's wallet but it is still a great achievement. Good things tend to happen very quickly when a manager knows what they're doing. Where are we after 3 years with Mowbray -15th, 10th, probably 14th or 15th again. For a more accurate comparison re finances Howard Kendall took us up from the old 3rd division and then missed out on promotion to the top flight the following season on goal difference with the same group of players and far less financial support than Mowbray has had because he was a good manager and didn't need to waffle on about supposed long term plans to excuse poor performance. Bumbling along in lower mid table under a crap manager, I'm sick of it, I mean what's the point?
  20. I've been saying it since January or February of 2019 but he needs to go, we'll never get anywhere good with this manager in charge. The triple substitution today was an affront to everyone's intelligence. What was the plan? Anyone and I mean anyone could just make a triple change simply to keep everyone happy and give them a bit of a run out. Absolute joke. He's been extremely well backed as well. Never been put under any pressure to sell players or keep the size of the squad under control or cull the deadwood. Simply been allowed to accumulate more and more players. Sadly the day of financial reckoning will presumably have to come sooner rather than later and by the time Mowbray leaves with his pension pot bursting at the seams I think we'll be lucky if we're any better off than at the point when he arrived.
  21. The only one of our centre halves to consistently look the part this season has been Wharton imo. When fit he'd be my first one in with probably Ayala alongside - if he can be bothered. Failing that didn't think k the combination of Wharton and Lenihan looked too bad.
  22. I think Bell has done well when called upon this season to be fair. Not suggesting he's the answer if we were to have promotion aspirations but still. Douglas has been woeful for me.
  23. And Douglas is crap as well. Bell's been far better this season.
  24. As per usual the commentators on i-follow were watching a completely different game. Whilst we were ok going forward first half, defensively we were dire Pukki should have had two more, the young lad Martin should have had another and they should also have had another right at the end. Not half chances either, absolute sitters it was harder to miss than score. Up against a decent centre half in Hanley Armstrong never got a kick. No fight in them whatsoever after the second goal. The triple substitution on 70 mins was an absolute joke and made things even worse. Elliott excellent - he isn't even our player- Nyambe very good - he'll be off soon - the rest - meh. Season over yet again and it isn't even Christmas. How many more chances is this buffoon of a manager going to get?
  25. Not sure how a week that could produce one point out of nine qualifies as a "good" one. IF (and it's a very big "if") we beat Norwich I'd say that would be an ok week, draw and that would be a poor one. Another loss would be a very poor one.
