  1. Agree completely with you and JH on this. On the face of it there seems to be no logical reason why you would consider Karanka for the role. His recent managerial record is terrible. Going beyond that though he ticks every box for the wrong reasons. You'd have thought a key requirement regardless of ability would be to appoint a good man manager who would maintain the team spirit and harmony fostered by Eustace, and for a couple of games by Lowe. Everything I've read about Karanka suggests that he would be far more likely to achieve the opposite. From the Club's point of view perhaps he is a cheap option and is the only one desperate enough to take the job beyond the end of the season. However, given the unique nature of the one off opportunity we currently have, his appointment would be so much the wrong fit it would smack of deliberate sabotage - much like the collapse of the O'Brien and Mcguire deals. If he was appointed, Id expect team morale to collapse, us to miss out on the play offs, a raft of players wanting to leave in summer and him to be gone by Christmas. The Burnley connection apart, I didnt feel as downbeat about the prospect of being managed by Coyle and that's saying something.
  2. Seems fairly well agreed that Waggott appointed Eustace. Broughton I think was very much on the periphery by that stage after the two transfer window debacles.
  3. Absolutely disastrous if it happns. What do you think? As always you've been ultra positive throughout this convoluted process.
  4. The only concrete claim I've seen was Jackson saying Karanka is getting a 2nd interview.
  5. On the other hand as you say it could be a situation like Leicester last year where they're already promoted and on the beach. Let's hope lightning strikes twice!
  6. More one for next season? (If he has a death wish)
  7. When the ROI job was being discussed, he seemed very well regarded by Irish commentators.
  8. Surprised by "underwhelmed" for Duff.
  9. Talksport Bet Latest odds: (O Neil continuing to drift, I think he might as well be 100/1) Karanka 3/1 Ismael 3/1 O Neil 5/1 Lowe 6/1 Gerrard 8/1 Boateng 8/1 Lijnders 10/1 Wellens 14/1 The only thing that mildly encourages me there is Gerrard coming in a bit. On the basis its basically a steering job and keep them motivated for 13-16 gamed Id be fairly happy with that. Ismael I could just about live with. The rest I'd be absolutely gutted about. (Assuming O Neil is out of the running)
  10. We'll put word out you're on the look out for a toy boy!
  11. Where is Jagdish Rao based? If he's based in London I'd guess that's the reason.
  12. 100% As I said earlier, it's like we're trying to hire a shelf stacker for Tesco.
  13. Exactly! Different times I know but can you imagine Jack saying to Kenny "You'll have to go through a couple of rounds of interviews with the likes of Peter Reid and Bryan Robson first!
  14. I thought his name was mentioned in jest as part of a running gag about ugly v good looking managers etc!
  15. Agreed. Why on earth has he made it to 2nd interview?
  16. But if he had, he'd probably have ended up being right.
  17. I know all that, I pointed it out when Carsley went 1/2 right at the beginning. I do think the general standard of those listed in the betting is an indication of the calibre we can expect though. Id be really surprised if we pulled out a Sean Dyche out of thin air when the indications are we've spoken to the likes of Boateng, Wellens, Boa Morte, Karanka, Lijnders etc etc.
  18. We'll see. We're paying £20k p.w. for a guy who's hardly kicked a ball yet.
  19. With the quality of most of the applicants it's a shame they couldnt have been put through some sort of version of Squid Game.
  20. No disrespect intended chaddy but you always say the same sort of thing during a transfer window "Let's wait and see who've we've got by the end - Im confident we'll get the players we need" And they nearly always let you down without exception
  21. Talksport latest odds. O Neil on the drift, Lowe coming in substantially. O Neil 2/1 Ismael 4/1 Karanka 5/1 Lowe 5/1 Boateng 8/1 Lijnders 10/1 ONeil apart, the state of it.
  22. Why do we seem to conduct our managerial searches as though we're trying to hire a shelf stacker at Tesco? May be wrong but it seems to me that most Clubs at our sort of level identify who they want and just go out and get them.
  23. Errr......is it April 1st already or does someone else have access to your keyboard?
  24. No-one is suggesting he came in permanently I dont think. He just needs to come in for a few months and put a smile on everyone's faces and a spring in everyone's step.
  25. Mrs Desai: " So Steven, long time since we've spoken, thought you'd have retired by now at your age, how goes the search for a new manager?" Waggott: : "Excellently Madam. After two weeks of dilligent work I can confirm we've been priced out of the hunt for a League 1 manager by a £250,000 compensation clause. (That's the Division below us btw) However I can confirm we are on with discussions with a guy with practically zero managerial experience and who was sacked less than six months into his last job and an older guy who's barely managed since 2018 and who only lasted about 6 months in each of his last two jobs. Mrs Desai: "Sounds perfect Steven. Good work. And remember remind David if he wins another couple of games, he'll have to go. He was warned".
