2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
RevidgeBlue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Great post. It's heartbreaking to see numerous longstanding supporters sadly reach this conclusion. In recent years I keep saying that you think you've seen it all but they somehow manage to surpass themselves time and time again. First of all going back a few years the proposed scam about converting part of Brockhall into housing with detailed housing plans and a vague promise of replacement with some new all singing all dancing facility about which there was no detail whatsoever. Then the failure to tie down our better players at the time Lenihan/Rothwell/ Nyambe/ Brereton etc Then the successive January transfer window debacle with high value incoming deals being scuppered at the last minute by alleged administrative errors or "a failure to press send". Outgoing deals meanwhile completely unaffected. On the Mcguire deal Broughton renegotiates a loan with a view on horrendously bad terms we'd never meet after the original permanent deal is pulled. Once that loan deal collapses as well we issue a promise to go back in the following window to rectify the situation and of course that's the last we hear of that. Surely nothing could get more embarrassing than that could it? Buckle up! Two successive head Coaches who have done really well force their way out of the Club the second taking the absolutely unprecedented step of leaving a Club in the play off positions for one in the relegation zone because he felt the long term prospects were better there. Then it seems we're set to lose at least six of that side that did so well last season plus a useful squad member because we won't meet their financial demands. The Head Coach seemingly attempting to throw said outgoing players under the bus shortly after apparently wrongly claiming another coach at the Club was leaving when it was not the case. It's like watching a car crash unfurl in front of you which escalates and causes untold additional collateral damage and there's nothing whatsoever you can do about it. Apologies if on wrong thread. -

They didn't rip us apart, they were no great shakes either, but notwithstanding that, we couldn't even lay a glove on them. -

Thanks for the response. You seem more clued up on us than a large section of our fan base. Could you also please contact Mr E. Jackson at our local excuse for a newspaper/media outlet (the Lancashire Telegraph and educate him on that?) -
Well done for trying. I certainly couldn't have sat in the same room as Waggott after he tried to flog Brockhall off and I doubt it's got any better since he left. Without it being meant as a criticism of individual members, other than the last meeting I feel the Forum has become counter productive in recent years. For the Club it's just been a vehicle to make themselves look better by creating the illusion that they communicate with the fans and actually listen to, or are bothered about, anything they say. When in reality most of the time the responses given by the Club over the last few years have been an affront to any rational person's intelligence.

Just catching up on this. Pesky LT pay wall- what did Ismael say about Travis exactly? No surprise of course that Hyam is the latest one to have contract talks stall just a few weeks after Elliott and the LT helpfully announced on behalf of the Club that agreement on him was "close" to try and soften the blow of the news about Brittain's impending departure. Brittain, Dolan, Travis, Hyam. Almost a full set. HOUSE! -

Yes, according to Nixon Dennis was a masterstroke pulled off by Waggott thanks to us agreeing a £20 k p.w. contribution to the players wages. -

Haven't they just signed Kone for a similar fee as well? Or is that the same deal? Either way we're getting left behind, even by run of the mill Clubs. -

It varies from player to player but I think there are certain occasions when you can be so definitive. Older supporters will remember strikers Dave Hargreaves and Paul Mckinnon coming in for trial games from Accrington Stanley and Sutton United respectively and looking completely out of their depth. Id seen enough of Grabbi after one game to conclude we'd been sold a complete dud at a vastly inflated price. I think I was 100% correct with that snap judgment but I got grief about it for ages because people didn't want to accept we'd been conned out of £7m. (How you doing USA? 🙂) For present purposes Im not sure who's said what about which player but I wouldn't be arguing with anyone who said De Neve or Montgomery were nowhere near the required standard. Tbh Henriksson could hardly have played worse so far either but he does appear to have a better pedigree so hopefully with him it's a case of settling in. -

Been a lot more of this sort of disparaging talk (not just from you) recently "If you're writing him off too early it's not the sport for you" If you dont rate such and such a player you know nothing about the sport" " If you can't see that we clearly played 4-1 -2-1-1-1 etc during pre season maybe it's not the sport for you" It's nothing really to do with anyone else whether someone rates a particular player or not, although you're obviously free to disagree. Mowbray seemingly didn't rate Raya that highly. Does that mean he's been in the wrong career all his life? Therefore any chance of dialling the hyperbole down a bit? -

Have they given a reason for the change from 11p.m. to 7p.m.? At least Suhail has a ready made excuse for various transfers falling through this time for the next FF Meeting. "As far as we were aware" the deadline was still 11p.m.! -

So in VI 's 14 competitive matches so far......... We've conceded the opening goal inside the first 20 mins 8 times. Of those eight, 4 of them were actually inside the first 10 mins. Out of those four where we conceded inside the first 10 mins, we actually conceded a second goal inside the opening 10 mins on 3 out of the 4 occasions!!! Surely these figures are completely unacceptable no matter how good or bad we think the players are or whatever level you happen to be playing at. They smack of a lack of organisation, lack of concentration from the first whistle and an unwillingness to put it all on the line for this manager. -

Suspect this will be a very brutal and humiliating afternoon for anyone connected with Blackburn Rovers. Apart from the management of course. Have we told them we'll change kit so that they can play in the kit of their choice yet? -

I'd say our best performers last season in no particular order were Travis, Brittain, Dolan and Batth. Guess what! 3 of them are no longer here and one appears to be on his way out. There's a reason for that other Clubs aren't daft and have noticed the way they played last year and are willing to pay for them and our management simply don't care as they are only interested in cutting costs. -

Yep. He's already done one nonsensical puff piece to placate the fan base where he suggests progress has been made on the RW position but then quotes VI as saying "It's difficult to say anything is close" which actually suggests the exact opposite! Never mind Rover the dog, I wish Eustace would come in for Jackson as well. -

100%. Whilst JDT was constantly calling out the powers that be, you felt there was some hope despite the ownership. Eustace was slightly more professional as it were in the sense that he didn't make his dissatisfaction so public. But you could tell he wasn't happy, Towards the end you could hear the optimism draining out of him with every interview. This guy gives the impression all is well and he's 100 % on board. That may change of course but I doubt it. -

Id rather that than sell him for £1.5m. Is that how little you value our Championship status at? -
