  1. There weren't many to choose from after we completely imploded in the second half of the season.
  2. He wasn't. He was good up until about Christmas of his first season. No real point calling him though as he's probably as good as we're likely to get and I've no doubt he'd re-sign if offered a new deal as unlike Brittain and Travis I doubt there'd be much interest in him from elsewhere.
  3. Something a bit fishy about this story. No doubt this is the last we'll ever hear about this player but If he does have a stress fracture, why dont we go back in for him in 6 weeks? He'll be fit by then. It's also not the first time it's happened relatively recently, the other time was Josh Maja who apparently turned out to have a cracked vertebrae when we ran a medical. Incredibly unfortunate for it to happen twice, statistically probably extremely unlikely.
  4. I think Hyam was playing next to Wharton when he had one of his few good spells in the first half of his first season.
  5. 100% agree. Him extending would be a bit of depressing news on top of all the other bad news for me.
  6. I actually thought that was a spoof atticle when I first read it. Loughborough University Student? Like something out of VIZ.
  7. Lambert knew what he was doing. Had one foot out of the door before he arrived.
  8. Well, if you define a roller coaster as something with all downs and no ups!
  9. Why did he sign up for it then? One (Eustace) after JDT I could just about excuse. Two?
  10. You're right. Still leaves time for Travis and Tronstad to be sold 👍
  11. It's looking at lot less ready now even than when I made that remarks.
  12. So on that basis, if VI is genuine and completely oblivious to the fate that befell the last 2 managers, we can expect to see him walk out in February or March like JDT and Eustace then?
  13. Why, you were criticising me a few days ago for pointing out the state of the squad at that point. (Which I freely acknowledged) Since then the most promising of our potential incoming signings seems to have melted away into the ether and arguably our best players is leaving. You should have learnt not to trust this lot after the Mcguire signing which you triumphantly announced then had to come back with your tail between your legs announcing it never went through. (Not your fault btw)
  14. We never have. Lenihan/Rothwell/Nyambe/ Brereton etc etc
  15. Is he a lone voice in the wilderness? Or fully in on the scam and part of the problem?
  16. I dont actually believe that. BUTt if true we can clearly wave ta ra to anyone of any quality. And one poster on here has the gall to suggest it's rubbish we dont want to get relegated!
  17. Look on the bright side mate......Good job the window doesn't finish today then! Lol.
  18. Why do you automatically assume he is asking for more than he's worth? Not for the first time I strongly disagree with your post. Not all players are worth the same salary based on their contribution to the team and therefore their actual value to us.
  19. Absolute nonsense. If you really want to keep Brittain you pay him what he wants and trim the wage bill elsewhere. What is Forshaw going to bring to the table for example? The square root of bugger all is the answer. Ditto Hedges. I wouldn't pay Cantwell in washers based on his performances last season yet he is allegedly our top earner by some margin. Terrible value on the face of it. Another example is Toth. Allegedly on an eye watering £10k p.w. considering he was on the bench nearly all last season. I'd rather keep Brittain, flog him and promote a young keeper Plenty of ways round it IF they really wanted to keep any of the 3 obvious suspects. Clearly, they don't - in fact Brittain's replacement has been brought in in advance of his departure. Sensible in one sense, but not if they aren't on the same level.
  20. That's it in a nutshell. Never more obvious than with Dolan. And If we couldn't tie down Batth and Weimann on one year extensions then realistically we have no chance of tying down any younger players on longer deals.
  21. Assuming this account is correct then I know technically no-one should ever refuse to play but in these somewhat unprecedented circumstances I can't blame anyone for doing anything they can to extricate themselves from this circus. The players all saw what happened to Eustace in February. He went into bat on their behalf with Waggott and Co and came away completely empty handed. This summer they and their agent have been waiting for a decent deal to be put in front of them, according to most accounts that hasnt been forthcoming - What exactly are they meant to do?
  22. Going to be as hot as I can ever remember it for a game today boys and girls. Factor 50 on! I'm sure the hospitality off the pitch today will be somewhat better than the fare on it. Enjoy.
