  1. Loath as I am to defend the Club hierarchy this is absolute BS from Sigurdsson. He isnt available for selection due to injury, wont be for some time, and hasnt been for even longer either. Even if he'd been fit and available and had been playing well, if the Club thought they could bring someone better in and they wanted to de-register him, that would be entirely their prerogative as well. You'd think from his comments that as a result of being de-registered he suddenly ceases to get paid or something. The worst that can happen to him is he continues to get paid a fortune for doing fuck all until the end of his contract. In reality its up to him now to stop swinging the lead, get fit and for him and his agent to pull their fingers out and negotiate a deal with someone else which will no doubt entail us having to pay him off in part to make up for the inevitable shortfall in wages.
  2. If we lost our second manager in a year, this time to a bottom 3 side whilst we were sat in the plays offs, surely that would finally raise eyebrows and be the final straw for the fanbase?
  3. Eeerily reminiscent of 1960. Dougan asks for a transfer to opponents Wolves on the eve of the then final. Eustance linked with a move away to a side in the bottom 3 today. Happy Days.
  4. To be fair that might be a problem at any normal Club but is becoming less and less of a problem here with more and more players on loans or short term deals and less and less players tied down for any significant length of time.
  5. Which windows are still open? My understanding is that we can only offload him now as a free agent which would involve terminating his contract and paying some if not all of the contract up. Either way we-ve ended up paying a player 17k p.w. for god knows how long for doing absolutely nothing. Another Broughton masterstroke.
  6. Pretty damning article from Bayes on bbc sport indicating how little football the new acquisitions have played in recent times. Dennis hasnt kicked a ball in domestic football for ten months. Woodrow one start in the Championship in November. Sanderson and Forshaw in similar boat. Ribeiro in and out of Braga side. Kargbo played 90 mins once in Serie B since September. Shambles.
  7. Really poor performance. Looked more like a relegation outfit than a play off side. Cant be stressed often enough but the transfer business was done far too late. Realistically we played ourselves out of contention in late December and January when out lack of depth and quality found us out.
  8. No idea how Hedges has carved out a career in professional football. He looks like someone who's won a competition out of the crowd to play with the tdam for the day.
  9. Worst pitch Ive seen in years. Like concrete with barely any grass. They're presumably used to it. We havent adapted at all.
  10. Slight contact but he was definitely looking for it. Seen them given but you'd be pissed off if it was given against us.
  11. "Much maligned"? "Supremo?" He must be back in favour at the Club again in return for which he spins the party line. The deal wont be "cheap" if he's not fit either.
  12. Well, that's your opinion, I've got mine, hope Im completely wrong, the proof of the pudding will be in the results for the rest of the season. If you're happy to be in "managed decline" and can just shrug your shoulders and accept it then that's entirely your prerogative. What's slightly irritating from my perspective is that earlier in the window you predicted the window would be shit (it was) that there would be no money spent (there wasnt) yet simply on the basis that some bodies have come in you now seem to be happy irrespective of the quality. Dennis has scored seven goals in four years and I dont think he's played this season. Will he be even able to get up to match fitness within a reasonable time frame? And we've supplemented him with a 30 year old with a similar scoring record who's registered 0 goals in 16 appearances this season. I dont think we're going to need an abacus to keep the score for the rest of the season.
  13. Bottom of barrel well and truly scraped with a succession of characters either not prolific or not match fit or both. Cant believe that many are trying to defend the recruitment team. And as we were clearly plumbing the depths for the dregs despite lofty talk of Schlupp/ Bamford/ Danns/BBD etc - why did we have to wait until the 3rd of Feb anyway?
  14. And you'd have to think we dont have a glowing reputatuon "over the pond" either after the Mcguire debacle!
  15. As in the owners have authorised amove for him or in your opinion you can stick Bamford where the sun dont shine? Lol.
  16. I have always thought that as well - but if it's him or no-one - Im not so sure now. It's not my money we'd be wasting so I couldnt care less from that point of view. Still dont think he'd be much good but he'd be a signature signing of sorts so it might lift everyone's spirits and give us a boost.
  17. There's absolutely no chance we're signing Armstrong or Bamford. Unlike you the only thing that would surprise me is a striker coming in
  18. I don't even regard them as a real rival. Historically there's never been that much rivalry between the Clubs due to us being in different divisions and the only time I can remember any real needle was around 1973-75 when Bobby Charlton a million miles past his best had an unsuccessful stint as player manager there. Leave them to concentrate on besting their real rivals, the mighty Blackpool.
  19. Didn't get the chance to watch the game live - just watched it back. Random thoughts: Loved the free kick routine on 3/4 mins Buckley was incredibly fortunate not to get booked for a near red card offence on 11/12 mins - was booked for another silly foul 2nd half, 99 times out of a 100 he'd have been off, needs to be a lot more careful. Travis is absolutely crucial to this side, the main man. We were very lucky in the last 10 mins after Travis went off. From being 2-0 up with 10 mins to go, we could have lost it had Riis not touched a ball that was already going in and had the ref awarded what looked a fairly stonewall penalty against Gueye. Thought our penalty was a definite one as well. Chris Sutton came out with some really intelligent comments at HT about Gueye not attacking the right areas enough. The Club could do worse than pay for him to have some one on one sessions with Gueye. We desperately needed those 3 points, but we'll probably play a lot better and lose before the end of the season.
  20. Trav comes back......all is well with the world. Trav goes off for the last 10 mins ......the roof caves in.
  21. Hedges must have some compromising pictures of almost all the senior management team or something.
  22. We've only played 2 games without Tronstad haven't we? 5 points from 6 games with Tronstad but no Travis by my reckoning if you include the Oxford game when he got injured. 5 from 5 without.
  23. Come off it - Brittain,Hyam and Szmodics cost £5-6 m. Gueye Ohashi and Cantwell cost £2m if that. The comparison is between them and Wahlsted/O'Riordan/Ennis/Telalovic/Hirst etc etc
  24. 5 points from 24 in Travis's absence. Hopefully his return can tip the balance.
