Swansea vs ROVERS - 23/10/18 19:45pm

Agreed. How impressive would Graham look if you stuck him out on the right wing? Brereton probably isn't as much of a hold up player as Graham but what talents he does have are clearly being wasted playing him out wide. -

Id replace Evans with Smallwood but generally like the look of that side. -

For me, as soon as we go ahead we stop playing normally and start backing off when we don't have the ball and fannying about with it and just trying to keep possession when we do have it. We got away with it at Bolton and in the last 10-15 mins against Leeds but were found out badly tonight. I don't think there's a massive amount wrong that wouldn't be rectified by having a far more positive outlook and playing for 90 mins as if we were 1-0 down but that said Brereton clearly needs to be playing down the centre and we could do with Nyambe back asap. -
Great first half, very poor second and whilst we just about got away with it courtesy of a linesman's flag, I have to say TM after getting it right by shaking up the starting line did his best to throw it away with the sunstitutions which merely invited pressure onto us. Raya MOM for the second game in a row for me.
-
Dont understand those substitutions at all. Tony just cant help himself with Williams/Evans/Smallwood can he.
-
As someone else said, scrappy 1-0 win needed to get the show back on the road after two very disappointing results at home.
-
Substitute the name Graham for Dack and I'd completely agree with that. As with last season it still seems to me that if you stop Dack playing you stop Rovers. Despite the fact we've made an acceptable start I'd say our home form has to be a major concern as Id imagine we'll suffer a thin spell on the road at some point. The manager needs to be a lot braver at home and start utilising some of the players he deemed good enough to sign in summer.
-
This. For home games anyhow.
-
Don't have a problem setting up like that away from home if the thinking is to try and keep it tight and nick a goal. But surely we have a responsibility to be a lot more proactive and adventurous at home? You can't deny surely that our home record is pretty poor.
-
They did look decent granted but it's easy to look impressive when the opposition aren't causing you any problem.
-
Not directed at me so apologies for butting in but a starting line up with three offensive players at home. One of whom was out of position. Isn't it obvious?
-
I like the way people identify that Sheffield United are a well drilled team with no superstars and then casually observe that we were thoroughly outclassed on the night by the better side as if we were playing Barcelona or something and it was only to be expected as opposed to being completely unacceptable. You're entitled to your views as everyone else is entitled to theirs. I'd wager though that if TM tries that starting line up at home again we won't get anything out of those games either regardless of who the opposition is or how good they allegedly are.
-
It sounds like get at Tony night but imo the way he is currently handling Brereton is bound to be sapping his confidence. For a Club the size of ours if we spend £7m on a player he should be straight into the team in his normal position and should be an automatic selection unless and until he's proven after a decent run of games he's not up to it. It's no use sticking him on the bench and giving him the odd cameo role for 20 minutes out of position on the wing or only bringing him on when something happens to Graham which again is going to do nothing whatsoever to boost his confidence.
-
As I mentioned earlier TM got it completely wrong with his team selection imo. He needs to completely rethink how he approaches home games for me, it doesnt take a genius to work out that 8 defenders plus 3 attackers and one of those 3 completely out of position on the wing is a recipe for disaster. If we cant turn our home form round we could soon slip back into trouble and from a personal point of view I don't want to waste two hours watching rubbish every other week. What's the point in coming out of the dressing room if you're not going to have a go at home? Individually despite the plaudits he has received this seasob I cant for the life of me see what Evans offets other than passing the ball three yards. Zero creativity and barely any use in terms of getting a foot in or disrupting the opposition. Jason Lowe Mk 2. At home I'd like us to be a lot more adventurous and a central midfield of Reed and Bennett with Rothwell and Palmer either side would surely provide a lot more energy and creativity and allow us to get the ball up to Dack and Graham or Armstrong or Brereton.
-
If you're going to blame anyone for Armstrong, blame the manager for sticking him out on the wing. He obviously needs to be operating more centrally. Can't understand why when we were struggling desperately with one up front and no support the manager went like for like with the substitution of Graham and did not try two strikers more centrally at any point.
-
Mowbray tentirely o blame tonight for me. Lining up at gome with three offensively minded players and one of those (Armstrong) completely out of position on the wing is a disgrace. Why sign players with a bit of creativity like Rothwell and Palmer if you've no intention of starting them?
-
Didn't think either penalty was justified, the second one looked like the Forest player either dived or lost his footing with no -one near him . Leading up to the first the decision should hIave been a goal kick but a corner was wrongly awarded and from the resulting passage of play I thought the ball just went harmlessly behind the Forest player and the referee inexplicably blew for a penalty. Not our best overall performance but difficult to gauge it really when you're on the wrong end of two dodgy penalties. We do need to start winning at home but I don't think it's necessarily our fault today. Still don't feel Evans and Smallwood are the right midfield combination at home. I thought Evans was poor today.
-
This does nothing to alter my view that Rodwell was a player to avoid like the plague. Is he available for selection yet or are we just funding his lifestyle whereby he allegedly drives merrily round in his £59k Merc. commiting traffic offences along the way?

Some fairly harsh comments about the owners above considering They've just forked out 7m for a player to sit on the bench. -
Derby vs Rovers post match thread
RevidgeBlue replied to J*B's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Didn't see tonight's game but the thing that has always worried me about TM is that he is too loyal to players already at the Club. All his spiel over the summer was along the lines of getting a few players in to assist the ones already there I.e. pad out the squad as opposed to improving the team. We're also drawing far too many games. Like another poster said I Can't decide whether we've made a solid start or whether it's rather worrying that we only have two wins from eight games. You do get the impression that wins will be fairly thin on the ground this season and there will no doubt be games and periods where we play well and are unlucky to lose so we will need a reasonable win ratio to compensate. -
Bell vs Williams

Do you mean the season we were relegated and conceded goals for fun? Hardly a badge of honour for Williams. -
Bell vs Williams
RevidgeBlue replied to Give 'Em the Axe's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Absolute no brainer. For me Williams is an absolute liability defensively. Bell offers far more going forward, does not get caught out of position defensively as often as Williams and is a lot quicker to recover his position if he does. -
Rovers v Villa - 15th September 2018

Yes, he set the wall up wrong. Brereton obviously isn't a right winger but did really well to nearly carve out a chance out of nothing when he was in the centre of the box at one point. -

Thought we were very unlucky today. Can't see how the goal we had chalked out could have been offside and I thought the free kick for their goal should have been a free kick the other way. Overall a very good performance. Thought both full backs were terrific, especially Bell who was my MOM. Only slight downsides once again were Smallwood and Evans who once again Didn't offer enough for me and Reed looked far more urgent and a cut above those two when he came on. Graham had an absolute shocker and looked about 53 not 33 today. Brereton looked quite promising I thought but looks like he needs to be playing down the middle. That would be the obvious switch. Overall very encouraging looking forward if TM makes a couple of obvious looking tweaks to the line up. -
Season Tickets 2018/19
RevidgeBlue replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Absolutely, it's not a new thing at all. The exact same £10 replacement applied in the days of Saint John as well. However as someone else has said if you haven't actually lost your ST card but have simply left it at home I think you can nip into the Club Shop or ticket office and get a paper ST "exception" free of charge. I'v e had to do both in the past. Why should you get a free replacement if you are careless enough to lose your ST? The Club have to issue you the card and someone in the office has to take time out to cancel the old card, run the card off and bring it down to the Club Shop/Ticket Office etc. I Don't think prices are a valid stick to beat the Club with. The replacement card charge certainly isn't. If you Don't want to pay it, look after your card properly!
