  1. That's a really nice draw in the 4th round ..... a home game against beatable opposition Let's hope Tomasson takes it seriously unlike against Forest in the league cup We're not getting promoted and a good cup run would be great for the club and the fans
  2. Good win that. Unexpected. Is it too much to hope for a decent cup run?
  3. If we could sign one player in this division it would be him
  4. I hate this “the cup doesn’t matter the league is more important” mantra I hope Tomasson respects the FA cup and puts out his strongest team. Anything significantly less is an insult to the competition and the travelling fans. I also hope he reminds the players of the traditions of the cup and hammers into them the importance of a decent performance Having said that I expect Norwich to win at a canter. They have a new manager in the dugout and will be keen to avenge their defeat against us a few weeks ago. Norwich 2 Rovers 0
  5. I'd got for Armstrong on loan too. It's obviously not worked out for him at Soton, the team is struggling and he's still not playing as far as I'm aware. He must be champing at the bit to get back playing first team football and scoring goals again and we know he loves Rovers. Not the big, ugly bruising CF I think we need but he'd be more of an asset than Gallagher, Hirst and the the others
  6. I know what you mean - some are awful places. Try Northampton Town's Sixfields Derby's Pride Park however I find to be a very pleasant new build and not at all like the others Coventry's was good too All of them are better than the likes of Luton's stinking slum Renaming Ewood is a red line for me. I wouldn't go
  7. Play acting and feigning injury to get players booked. Players demanding the referee book or send off another player. Spitting in another player's face's. If someone did that to me I'd break their jaw with one punch and walk off the field Some of the downsides of the foreign influence in our game.
  8. I can assure you the convenience and interests of away fans would never have entered the Sky executives' head. In fact, if it had been mentioned the exec wouldn't have a clue what you were on about
  9. Debates about "greatest players" are subjective and can never be settled. The question should be, who did you enjoy watching most? .... and for that I would have Cruyff and Pele as joint No 1s, Cruyff for his grace and elegance and beautiful movement and Pele for his sheer brilliance. Best and Messi would be next.
  10. Rovers are in freefall and I don't think Tomasson knows how to stop it. We are conceding too many soft goals and are struggling to score. The players look directionless and lack belief. It won't be long before we're looking over our shoulders at the lower end of the table
  11. Others have their favourites but Pele will always be the greatest footballer of all time for me Was lucky enough to see him play in the 1966 World Cup at Goodison RIP
  12. Tomasson’s just protecting his own position because he knows a promotion push is unsustainable I’m not surprised home fans have started booing. Away fans at Coventry were the most subdued I’ve ever seen them and we had a good following there. Virtually no noise, no singing, no banter with the home fans. Rovers fans are an apathetic lot but the air of resignation when we lost was sad to witness
  13. Rovers have to find more quality from somewhere - what we don't need are more journeymen and loanees who will never make a difference. A young Bradley Johnson type in midfield and a proper centre forward who can hold up the ball, bash defenders around and score goals like Danny Graham would be ideal
  14. We've lost 4 in 5; they've won 5 in 7 if I remember right All the signs point to another defeat On the other hand it often pays to be contrary so I'm going 2-1 Rovers And @MashedPotatotes gets his spuds boiling at the prospect
  15. That’s the beauty of football - winning against the odds. And on our form it was a big surprise. Batting away criticism of the club and manager by constantly quoting our league position doesn’t wash. You’ll have to do better than that because it’s obvious as it stands we’re heading for a fall
  16. Meaningless, as we know from the Mowbray years. On current form the notion of us finishing in the playoffs under this manager is fanciful
  17. A bit of reality on your part instead of saying it’s all ok because we’re 3rd in the table
  18. Not for much longer. It’s clear we’ve been over achieving. Results are poor and form is dire. The manager looks out of ideas. It’s not difficult to see us sliding slowly down the table and finishing some where in the middle
  19. Outwitted by dull old Mowbray Think about that
  20. A team mate always wore his wife’s knickers to play football in which we all thought was a bit odd even 50 years ago. My pre match routine before Saturday games was always bacon and egg lunch - win or lose I didn’t change it. I alternated between 7 10 and 11 in my playing days. 11 was the favourite and seemed to win more than if lost
  21. We have a good track record away from home against the North East teams. A win against Tony's lot would be very welcome. I still haven't forgiven him for the Peterborough away match towards the end of last season
  22. There's a clear lack of quality in the Rovers squad. We've a few decent players (none Premier League IMO), some very ordinary ones and some promising lads who may or may not get better. But overall, there's a lack of quality. And hoping that fringe players from Premier League clubs will fill the gaps doesn't work either - apart from the likes of Elliott, Harwood-Bellis and Tosin (credit Mowbray?) most of them have been poor to say the least. This January we desperately need some players who will come in and make a difference - not lads just to fill a shirt.
  23. Good Lancashire lad and superb footballer He'd be in my all-time England Greats XI Bolton rejected him because they said he was too small
  24. A cup quarter-final was at stake .... 2 games from Wembley, a day out to remember But hey, we're "focusing on the league" for a top 6 place Hurrah!
