  1. It's their job to sell the club to prospective new players. If they can't do that there's little point in them having highly paid jobs Having said that, all players are motivated only by money - so if we can't match other clubs on wages it's all futile anyway
  2. Sam is the man. The Everton fans won't like it but he'll keep them up Old debate but we'd have been in the Prem for many more years and possibly still now if the twerps hadn't sacked him Moving on, Sam had Lewandowski lined up for Rovers before he was dumped Anyone of that calibre coming in this week?
  3. Perhaps he should take up athletics? I liked the Travis of a few seasons ago but the lad hasn't developed at all. In fact, he's become slower physically and mentally.
  4. All will become clear (or not) on January 31, about 10.55pm
  5. Rangers signed Cantwell from Norwich And it happened 8 days before the window closed Very odd how some clubs operate
  6. Chaddy bereft and tucking into a large helping of humble pie this evening Lampard was always a poor appointment, a case of the owners appeasing supporters who wanted a "big name" (any big name) Bielsa tipped for the job according to some but although he will make Everton an exciting team to watch I'm not sure in view of his time at Leeds whether he's the man to save them from relegation Their supporters are an arrogant lot as has been noted but you'd rather Everton stayed up than nothing southern clubs such as Bournemouth.
  7. It would be interesting to see season ticket prices and other prices, eg walk-ons, special deals, for Rovers, Burnley, Bolton, Preston, Wigan and Blackpool if anyone has the figures
  8. You'd have more faith in Broughton and his recruitment "process" if he actually got some deals done early In other words, targets identified before the window, negotiations done and dusted, and the signing a formality As it is, as usual we're more than likely be scrambling around in the final days as the clock ticks and a desperate loanee comes in at the 11th hour
  9. Vale should make a career for himself at League 2 level but he's clearly not a Championship player. He just doesn't have enough tools in his box. He's just filling a shirt and needs to be replaced in this window if the club is serious about trying to make the playoffs Same applies to Gallagher,
  10. To state the bleedin' obvious, because they don't have a clue either
  11. The Project achieves a draw - a noteworthy event this season. I also note that Joe Rothwell, a former member of the previous failed Project, started for fourth division Bournemouth today We're nowhere near good enough to sustain a playoff challenge. The team desperately needs some better players
  12. Looked like a training ground goal on the video, slow, almost walking pace Brizzle must be gutted Come on Rovers
  13. Unexpected 1-0 to The Project
  14. You forget how blessed we were. So many top class players. Lovely goals, beautiful to watch. Big crowds, the ground buzzing. Makes you sad and realise how much we've lost
  15. Everton about to sign 4 strikers according to the BBC
  16. And we needed to spend money in the summer of 1995 from a position of strength. We signed Matty Holmes That's all history though Who have we signed today?
  17. Yes it does - a huge advantage Rovers are of course among the exceptions In our first season down we finished 17th IIRC, and have rarely threatened to make the play-offs since, never mind win promotion At this point you are permitted to criticise the club
  18. Bolton are averaging more than 18,000 this season - bigger town but that's with United and City next door So as a club what are they doing right that we're doing wrong?
  19. We're 5th in the league yet I feel utterly depressed about Rovers because it's obvious even to the likes of Chaddy that we're a poor outfit, will slowly sink down the table as the season progresses, haven't a hope in hell of finishing in the play-offs and nothing is going to change. I walked out of match for the first time in 60 years at Peterborough last spring as the Mowbray capitulation reached its end game but the some of the stuff served up by Tomasson has been even worse. I found myself shouting at the TV screen during the Rotherham match and eventually switched off for the good of my own health The mood could all change of course if we made some good signings this window, some players who have been about a bit and will actually strengthen the team, and the club actually showed some ambition by spending some money. The silence however as always is deafening and I expect we'll get some last-minute desperate 18-year-old loanees in just to keep the supporters happy but who won't make a blind bit of difference to the team. And so it goes on, year after year
  20. So will I if we finish 6th this time. On present form I'd that's as likely as you ever criticising anything connected with Rovers
  21. 3rd, last time you were. Not bad, eh?
  22. The London money laundromat. Russia is corrupt. The Uk is corrupt. Football is corrupt. Why the surprise?
  23. Leave off If third division and fourth division clubs like Bournemouth / Brentford / Watford / Brighton can survive and thrive in the Premier League then so can Rovers Burnley were up for 7 (??) years and are going back again. All it needs is very good management, confidence, ambition and a bit of money,
  24. Can we have a poll on banning the P word? I project that it would be well received
  25. Looks like you've bought into the "project" mantra hook, line and sinker. Speaking personally, I'm fed up with projects because they have a habit of never delivering There's no reason to believe Tomasson is any better than our previous project managers
