He's not as young as when he first arrived Memo to Mowbray: Jacob Davenport - why ?

Having a beer at home.

End of the day I thought Palmer looked a player and had ability if it could be harnessed properly . Perhaps the emergence of Travis has forced Mowbray's hand but Travis's impact has been such and so immediate it does beg the question why Mowbray has waited to long unleash him and signed Palmer when he obviously wasn't needed. Bristol City have got themselves a good player but Palmer needs to play regularly.
-
Exactly my thoughts. Chelsea have every right to be miffed at Rovers after Palmer's successful spells at Derby and Huddersfield
-
Not much discussion of Kasey Palmer leaving for Bristol City. Will he be missed? Certainly has ability but Mowbray clearly doesn't trust him, hence Chelsea's apparent annoyance at recalling him because of lack of game time and then sending him straight back out on loan to Ashton Gate.

There won't be anything like 20,000 on - in fact I'd be surprised if there's 15,000. We could even have a situation like Blackpool - Arsenal in which there'd more Newcastle than Rovers fans.

Millwall away Saturday 12th Jan kick off 17.30

Looking forward to this but with trepidation as I've never seen us win down there. Millwall are in excellent form and if any of our players are intimidated about playing there we'll get stuffed. The New Den with its segregated away end and separate path from the railway station is nothing like as frightening as the old Den. I remember my first visit circa 1971 and I've never encountered such a hostile crowd, particularly towards the referee. The old dockers down there didn't like authority. Rovers lost, former Chelsea player Barry Bridges scoring for Millwall IIRC. The old ground in the middle of the railway triangle was a disgrace and wouldn't be allowed these days. The terraces were crumbling (literally) with lumps of concrete lying about that could be used as ammunition. Not a place for the faint hearted Hoping for a draw at best. -
FA Cup 2019: Third Round onwards
jim mk2 replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There's a league table I saw at the weekend (maybe in the The Times) of the number of times clubs draw strong opposition in the early rounds Rovers were near the bottom of it, ie we have had more than our fair share of tough draws. And it;s happened again - Watford, a tough game (assuming we beat Newcastle) when we could have got Accrington, Shrewsbury, Doncaster and a host of others (not that any of them are easy - though you see the point). It am hoping to see Rovers play at Wembley again before I get nailed to the perch but these tough draws every year make it very unlikely -
Duffy was raw when he came to us but improved immeasurably by the time he left. He;s now an established PL defender and that £4m looks poor very poor business for Rovers now.

Bloomin' right. Mowbray;s statement that he wanted to "give the players who won promotion their chance" is hogwash. A good manager would identify where the team needs to strengthen and act quickly. His failure to do so has led to us wallowing in mid table and led to the added risk that our best player could leave sooner rather than later because we're not competitive in this division.
-
Raya does make mistakes and has cost us points this season and last but he's still young and is not the finished article. I'd stick with him because the team needs strenghtening elsewhere more urgently but if a good offer came in for him I'd be a seller. There's a few solid, experienced 30-year-old keepers around on the edges of PL squads who we could get as a replacement
-
Why not buy the Times today - at £1.90 the Mowbray feature is worth the price alone.
-
Lenihan gets beaten for headers far too easily - it's cost us quite a few goals this season. He's OK at centre back in League One but at this level le looks what he is - a converted midfield player
-
Our season is effectively over in terms of excitement as we're unlikely to get promoted or go down while a cup run would give fans a real boost. While Benitez will also want a cup run to distract fans from their relegation battle it is quite likely that he will rest some of his more important players for the battles ahead. I hope Mowbray takes this tie seriously and fields his strongest possible XI as it is entirely winnable if he gets the players in the right frame of mind.

Rovers v West Brom 1 Jan 2019

Graham has lost pace but he's still a hugely important asset to the team. There's no one else in the club who can hold the ball up like him or play with their back to goal. Look how we struggle to keep the ball in the opposition half when he is not in the team - it comes back all the time, putting extra pressure on the defence. He's still first name on the teamsheet for me. -
Nyambe's speed and athletic ability are the reasons why he's more likely to make it in the Premier League than Dack. He's not ready for the PL yet in my opinion and would benefit from another season with us but you can see why top clubs are looking. I do hope we make meaningful signings this month. A centre half, left back and a young winger would give the team such a boost

Albion fans not happy. They think today's defeat was coming, that their team is too old and are castigating the manager for not playing their young players. -

I'd take a draw at Millwall in view of my dismal record watching Rovers there. I do wish Mowbray would get a big dominating centre half in - and soon. Would make a huge difference to the side -

Travis is already 21, from today it's obvious he should have more than 50 appearances under his belt by now. -
