What's Nyambe done wrong ?
-
Nuttall won't help relieve the pressure. He's hopeless at holding up the ball
-
Is Dack on ?
-
3 in for West Brom. That's what you do when you want to win promotion
-
Just one decent player would have been sufficient. Quality usually costs money - unless it's Ben Brereton
-
Mowbray is tying his hands by only looking at British players or players only currently playing in this country. Hasn't he learnt that home-based players are expensive (Brereton £7m ????) and are on very high wages? There are very few Bradley Dacks around - if he wont spend the money he needs to look abroad for the bargains - something which he seems reluctant to do.
-
We've got ourselves into a good position in the league and just needed one quality forward signing to give us that bit of a push to make the top 6. Really poor effort by the club.
-
A poor show by Rovers. Another striker could have pushed us into the top 6. Anyone thinking Nuttall will deliver are going to be very disappointed.
-
Except they are very expensive.
-
I'd say Newton, Hunter and Wilson would walk into the current team, and Martin, Metcalfe and Rogers might be vying for a place too. But compared to the 1962-65 side it's nowhere near as good a squad
-
Great photo ! Look at the size of John Barton - who did he steal a living as a professional footballer ? Some good players there - Knighton, Hunter, Martin etc but some ropey ones too - the likes of Calloway and Kopel. But the club was on the way down and that squad isn't a patch on the one from 4 years earlier. Sir Keith sticks out as a Rolls Royce amongst a load of Ford Cortinas.

Have to say I don't remember a short-sleeved round neck shirt - maybe there's some photos somewhere? Would love to see Rovers back in the 1960s round neck shirts with white shorts and socks - my first act when I buy out Venky's will be to restore it.? I have a replica V-neck 1960 Cup Final shirt at home. Still wear it on special occasions.

Wages will be the stumbling block with the Boro lad, Austin probably too. We're not at that wage level as a club at the moment. Gallagher it is then, hopefully
-
The Boro lad looks a great prospect and at 26 his best years are ahead of him but I can't see how the wages would work. He rejected Premier League Burnley to join Boro for £5k a week more so like most footballers is motivated by money and is unlikely to take a wage cut to join us. Austin is a younger (bit) version of Graham, holds the .line well and scores goals. If we can get him I'd be delighted.

That is the best Rovers kit of all time Anyone notice Mick McGrath is wearing the older V-neck shirt (my second favourite) ? Where's Fred Pickering - had he gone by then ?
-
Armchair experts....always the best.
-
Yes, and another missed opportunity by us.
-
He's not fit enough to play, which makes him unfit. Either way, it's quite possible we won't see him in a Rovers shirt this season, which would be deeply disappointing when a couple of good, fit players could push us into the top 6.
-
Please read again. “He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan."
-
'd love to be happy clappy about this but I'm only quoting the manager. "He's not fit enough even to go out on loan," says Mowbray. I

Mowbray....... “He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan." So we can forget about Chapman for this season then Another one for the "future" and absolutely no help to the possible promotion push. Disappointing
-
Funnily enough, the council received a planning application this week to extend the treatment room facilities at Ewood and Brockhall. I wonder if this was in anticipation of Chapman arriving ?
-
Dack moving south or north ?

Sad day for Rovers fans of a certain age who remember him as a very good player and part of probably the best forward line to wear the famous blue and white halved shirt. He was a powerful winger with a distinctive running style and tremendous shot - his penalties used to almost break the back of the net. As an awestruck schoolboy circa 1963 I saw him at Sudell Cross coming out of the excellent bookshop there and getting into his new VW. 55 years ago but seems only like yesterday.
