  1. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/17721829.blackburn-win-race-to-land-middlesbroughs-stewart-downing/ That's poor, really poor. I cannot see what he adds to our squad.
  2. Jones had a very bad injury which kept him on the sidelines at Rovers for some considerable time.
  3. Look who's available. Discuss. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9320910/phil-jones-man-utd-exit-west-ham-transfer-issa-diop/?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=bau_paid_social_sunfootballfacebook&utm_medium=social&utm_term=uv_audience&utm_content=paid_boost
  4. I heard someone say "pre-prepare" the other day. I mean, how do you prepare something before you've prepared it?
  5. Sounds like an Americanism. I'll just order it and wait for it to arrive in due course.
  6. "Pre-order". How do you order before you order? I'll be buying it - looks a good read. Jansen was so unlucky - would have won many caps for England.
  7. This has to be a joke. Dack is not an international footballer - it's doubtful he's even good or fit enough to play in the Premier League
  8. Best I've ever seen Rovers play. We took Spurs to the cleaners. The 8-2 at West Ham would be good to see too.
  9. Some fantastic footage there - glimpses of Duggie in his pomp giving Spurs the runaround. Can anyone find old film of the 7-2 win over them at Ewood in the early 1960s? As for the quartered shirts do they think Bristol Rovers play in one eighth shirts?
  10. Horror show defending. England so poor and well beaten, by a far superior Netherlands side. It really was back to the bad old days under Hodgson and many others and is a wake up call for Southgate. Now another meaningless game against the Swiss. The season drags on and on. Does anyone care ?
  11. Solid, tough, combative defender, a leader on the pitch and still fit and hungry to play at 36. Can't see another PL club taking him on and would do an excellent job for us. Wages, as ever, would probably be a problem. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48519451
  12. Grosicki is 31 this week so he's (a bit) younger than Conway. Poland international with decent goalscoring record. His wife/partner will be welcome at Ewood.
  13. I've never seen Armstrong take on and beat a defender. No doubt someone will provide a link to him doing it but I've never seen it.
  14. He plays the wide channels by getting behind defenders with his pace but I've never seen him beat a defender one-on-one. His final ball is usually poor. That's not a winger
  15. Armstrong isn't a winger. A good winger can beat a man and cross a ball; Armstrong can't do either.
  16. At least Chaddy was amusing. This one takes himself seriously
  17. The written word is libel; slander is the spoken word. And name calling might be childish but it isn't libellous. Tip if you want to survive on here: rein yourself in and don't argue with everyone
  18. Come back in a few years when you understand there are people who might disagree with you
  19. On the evidence so far, he's a bad bet. And it's clear the money should have been better spent on a centre half and other positions where we are weak.
  20. The fee represents the maximum Forest could screw out of us. Fans with 50 years plus of watching football know the game.
  21. The fee is immaterial and promising youths more often than not fail to mature into top players. At the moment Brereton looks like a £70k player not £7m
  22. A big fee means nothing. We wasted countless millions over the years on the likes of Davies, Ward, Blake, Daly, Grabbi etc etc etc
  23. Agree. If we're going to sign players in the early to mid-30s I would have no objection to us signing a big centre half who is going to provide much-needed leadership on the pitch like Moran and MacNamee. Those 2 would instantly improve the current Rovers side in their playing days. There must be some warhorses out there possibly released by Premier League clubs who could do us a good job - wages might be high but it would be money better spent than on the likes of Downing.
  24. Experienced sub-editors have either been sacked, retired or moved on to other jobs. In the face of fierce pressure from the internet, newspaper managements have cut costs to the bone and checking facts, grammar, spelling etc is not deemed important any more.
