  1. So why are your favourite players (who just happen to be Indian) "world-class" when others (who just happen to be English) are not ? Unless you are prejudiced of course. From wikipaedia: Cook took over as permanent England captain for the Test series against India in the winter of 2012. In each of the first three Tests – the first a defeat and the second a ten-wicket victory – he scored a century. This, together with a century in each of two Tests in Bangladesh when he was captain, gave Cook five centuries in five Tests as captain, a record number. His scores on the tour also included 119 and 97 in the warm-up matches. The ten-wicket victory in the second Test was lauded by the media as one of England's greatest victories, and Cook's run of hundreds brought him level with the English Test record for most centuries. On 6 December 2012, Cook became England's leading scorer of centuries after making a hundred against India in Kolkata. On 7 December 2012 he captained England to its first Test series victory on Indian soil since 1984–85, as well as overtaking Mike Gatting as England's highest ever run scorer in India. It seems Cook likes playing against India - is that why you don't like him ? As for cliched "negative" captaincy stuff I'll take negative over positive any day in view of England's success under him. By his standards he's played poorly this series but he's had dips in form before and come back stronger.
  2. I enjoy watching the way Cook plays the cut shot and in particular the ball off his legs, which is one of the most difficult shots to play. He's probably the best batsmen in world cricket on leg stump because anything pitched in that area usually goes for a boundary. Trott is a lovely batsman to watch when he is on form. Both are players out of the top drawer. "World class" is in the eyes of the beholder - you only see "world class" when it is wearing an India cap.
  3. You've admitted to "hating" the England cricket team and labelled them "cheats" when it's been pointed out to you more than once with proven facts that the Indians are the biggest cheats in world cricket. You're not fair. Some people would say you're prejudiced.
  4. It's very easy to rubbish your "argument". Cook averages 48.1 in Test cricket, Pietersen 48.3. Of India's so-called "world class" (your words) batsmen Sehwag and Dravid's Test averages are better at around the 50 mark but Ganguly, Laxman, Dhoni, Ghambir at 42.1, 45.9, 39.7 and 44.1 respectively are significantly worse. Only batsmen of the highest class have Test averages in the high 40s or more.
  5. Likewise Cook, Trott and Pietersen for England. Broad's had better allround games for England because he's a better batsman than those two. And when he's in his pomp like yesterday he's also a better bowler. Now fack off and let us enjoy our win.
  6. Take away Tendulkar's runs over the years and where would India have been ? Daft argument. I must say Broad's bowling spell yesterday was poor quality. Lie back and think of England - and enjoy the moment.
  7. From what I have read they don't have any better - this lot is as good as they get. But who cares about them anyway ? This is time to celebrate another glorious England triumph.
  8. Prior's been a disappointment with the bat that's true, but then so have Cook and Trott while Root and Bairstow.should not be in the team because they aren't good enough at present (please don't point out Root's 187 because he was dropped on 8). I feel England have won this series despite firing only on 2 or 3 batting cylinders for most of the time (which just shows how poor the opposition are but who cares?). However when we have needed someone to stand up and be counted either Swann, Broad, Anderson, Pietersen or in particular Bell have shown their mettle. Bell has been brilliant - the best batsman on both sides by far. Warne deserves to choke on his own words. 3-0 up with one to play; let's make it 4 at the Oval.
  9. The England team has plenty of faults - such as complacency and lack of application - but they are not "cheats and hypocrites". The cheats are mainly Indians and Pakistanis (see below), which makes you the hypocrite. http://en.wikipedia....or_match_fixing
  10. Today was the poorest I have seen England play in a long time. But then England have been generally poor all summer, yet still secured the Ashes in record time. Flower needs to deliver an Alex Ferguson-style bollocking to some players for getting themselves out out against a very mediocre attack and it's also obvious the team needs a shake-up. Ballance and Taylor are better young batsmen than Bairstow while Root needs to go down the order. Why Onions wasn't picked for his home Test is a mystery too.
  11. It's correct alright, one English county player but the majority from the sub-continent. But we're the cheating scumbags apparently.
  12. Here are the real "cheating scumbags", led by India of course. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cricketers_banned_for_match_fixing
  13. Yes it is. Durham's a lovely town. Lumley Castle overlooking the ground is where Watson was famously "spooked" by the castle ghost in 2005.
  14. Warne writing in the DT today has accused England's players of being "smug and arrogant". Oh the irony, the irony.....
  15. England have been accused of "cheating" by an India supporter when it is India that are the biggest cheats in world cricket. You've contributed nothing on here except make silly comments - clear off. Weather looks OK in Durham, possibility of showers Sunday / Monday. I'll be there Saturday - looking forward to it.
  16. Amit Yadav: India T20 international, Mohnish Mishra: India U-19 international, Mohammad Azharuddin: India international, TP Sudhindra: IPL player, Ajay Sharma: India international, Manoj Prabhakar: India international, Ajay Jadeja: India international A list of shame showing the most corrupt nation in world cricket. A list that contains not one England player. Yet you accuse England of being "cheats and hypocrites" with no morals or ethics. You need to take a good look at yourself.
  17. OK, for starters look at this list of cheats below, the majority Indian or Pakistani with one minor English county player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cricketers_banned_for_match_fixing I await your comments.
  18. If you want to have a discussion about morals and ethics, and cheats and hypocrites in connection with the India team, I'm more than happy to oblige.
  19. Funny you should mention Lara because I was in Antigua for the match in 1994 when he scored his 375 - and I watched it with a mixture of horror and fascination ! Like Tendulkar, Lara was a beautiful player to watch, technically very correct unlike Richards who played around his front pad alot and relied on his speed of eye to hit the ball. I love watching batsmen's different techniques, and also bowlers too, but when it comes to Rovers and England I only want us to win which is why I am always watching our players intently and not the opposition so much. Does that make me a proper fan of the game - I think it does. BTW how did you feel by the way when Sri Lanka were pulversing India for 952 in 1997 ? I understand your support of India but fail to see why you should not support England as your second team against countries other than India - after all, you live and work here. Failure to do so would make you as contemptible as Lord Haw-Haw above, and I think you're capable of showing more class than the likes of him.
  20. Same as watching Rovers - I focus mainly on our players and how they are performing. The likes of Richards and Garner were different - real world stars who I'd actually pay money to watch. As for mediocre performers from the former colonies I couldn't care less.
  21. To repeat, Strauss has British parents and has lived here on and off since he was 6. His natural country of choice was England. Pietersen has stated his reasons for not wanting to play for SA but you know better obviously. Don't rate Siddle at all but I don't take much notice of the opposition to be honest. I prefer to focus on Broad's qualities.
  22. Broad's average is around 30 I think but averages don't always tell the true story: Broad's a good strike bowler for England, he hits the deck hard and gets bounce, and offers something different from Anderson's swing and Bresnan's accuracy. I would rather have Broad than any of the opposition bowlers. Strauss and Co made their choice because they have lived here since childhood and teens, not on which was the better side. You chose India instead of England because of your parents, which is fair enough. But that doesn't give you the excuse to slag England off at every opportunity; in fact, after India England ought to be your second team. Of course you're not a traitor, certainly not in the dave birch class. I don't care for the England football team and its players very much but I always want the team to do well and would never support an opposing country. The question is why you would celebrate Pietersen's dismissal when it was clearly detrimental to England in a game we were trying to save. Unless of course you wanted England to lose, in which case you are a traitor like Lord Haw-Haw of the Outback.
  23. Message to the traitor: some would say it is the height of hypocrisy that you see Pietersen as a "mercenary" (in fact he turned his back on SA at 19 because of their "selection" policies and has been living in England for the past decade or so) when you see fit to support a country other than your own.
  24. And which of your mediocre lot are better than Broad ? Tremlett has been injured (yet again) but is back in the squad for Durham. Thanks for the advice. BTW England are 2-0 up and have retained the Ashes
  25. So like Strauss etc, you could play for two countries . So your stance that the South African-born players should not be playing for England is idiotic. Strauss and Co made their choice, as did Bopara and Panesar - which would you choose ?
