Read this: http://www.btinternet.com/~dajaca/jforrest.htm Forrest was a "God", one of the Rovers immortals. Sherwood was a Borehamwood yob. End of story.

Very good ! Are you a scriptwriter for Peter Kay ?

Two men were tonight charged over alleged racist abuse aimed at Birmingham City footballer Dwight Yorke during a match against Blackburn Rovers, police said. David Ashcroft, 21, from Leyland in Lancashire, and Jason Perryman, 22, from Chorley in Lancashire, were each charged with a racially aggravated public order offence. The pair are due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court at 10am tomorrow

[Archived] Three Cheers For Andrew Cole

With all due respect , Jim doesn't have a good point . Inordinate cheering for Cole would only be pandering to the very forces (the media and the PC brigade) who have unfairly heeped such unwarranted disgrace upon the club over the last few days. It's no good complaining about these low life and then advocate sucking up to them in the hope that they'll give us a couple of lines of good "PR" . Personally I wouldn't cheer this overgrown kid if I was paid . Fair enough for those who rated him but to go overboard just because he's black is a form of racism in itself . Madness is taking over I tell you ......madness Nothing to do with pandering. It's about trying to restore the reputation and good name of Blackburn Rovers destroyed by two so-called fans with whom you seem to empathise. Unwarranted, unfair or not, the club is now seen as racist. After the events of this week, it would not take much to give a rousing cheer to a former player who just happens to be black. -
O’NEILL: “LENNON’S BEEN RACIALLY ABUSED” By Chris Roberts, PA Sport in Barcelona Celtic manager Martin O’Neill tonight accused the Rangers supporters of racially abusing Neil Lennon during Saturday’s Old Firm derby. The Northern Irishman’s outburst was triggered by a question over his own post-match actions after the 2-0 defeat at Ibrox. O’Neill was criticised for being “provocative” after he led Lennon to the travelling contingent and repeatedly punched the air following the stormy match. And he claimed to have no regrets over the incident, instead complaining about the treatment his fellow countryman - who is being investigated by police over some of his own actions - received. O’Neill compared the abuse of the Rangers fans to the Spaniards who targeted England’s black international stars in last Wednesday’s friendly in Madrid. The Bhoys boss said: “What should I regret? I go to the away fans every fortnight with the players and nothing has been said before. “I think this is the first time we have been beaten away from home in 18 months and nobody has picked up on that at all.” He claimed: “I applauded the crowd because the support was fantastic - and because Neil Lennon was abused from start to finish I think I had a right to show some support. “He was verbally abused in a racial and sectarian manner. There has been a lot of talk about racism in football recently which was very prevalent after the incident in Madrid. “Neil Lennon was subjected to this from start to finish - and it reached an incredible crescendo at the end.”

1 POLICE Yorke TWO ARRESTS OVER DWIGHT YORKE ABUSE By Pat Hurst, PA Two men have been arrested over racist abuse aimed at footballer Dwight Yorke during a match at Blackburn Rovers, Lancashire Police said today. Both suspects, in their early 20s, went to Blackburn police station voluntarily today at 4pm. It followed a nationwide appeal to find the culprits who taunted Yorke with monkey chants and other racist abuse. The two went to the police station and were arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence. Yorke, who plays for Birmingham City, made a complaint to police after Sunday’s Premiership match at Blackburn’s Ewood Park. The suspects were captured on TV and pictured in newspapers hurling abuse at the player. Lancashire Police said the pair contacted police following the appeal and arranged to come to the station and were now being interviewed. A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Two men in their early 20s have been arrested on suspicion of committing a racially aggravated public order offence following an incident at Ewood Park on Sunday.” She added, “Det Inspector Simon Giles and Det Sgt Gary Dunnagan, from Blackburn CID, met with Mr Yorke and other members of the club earlier today at Birmingham City’s training ground where they interviewed a number of people over several hours.”

That's not how the rest of the country sees us unfortunately. The mud has stuck. -
The plot thickens. Sullivan is obviously using this rumpus as a lever to force Yorke out of St Andrew's. Perhaps he's tired of watching an ineffective disinterested player too.

My point exactly, and all the while calling for us to have signed Hartson. Oooh wait a mo' Hartsons white and Cole is Bl.... Nah it couldn't be. You're missing the point I'm trying (and obviously failing) to make. Thanks to those two "fans" on Sunday, Rovers are now seen as a racist club with racist supporters and by supporting Andrew Cole the Fulham match gives us the chance to show the nation that we are not. Or perhaps you think we should boo Cole because he is one of our former players ? In view of events at the Birmingham game, and with the press and TV cameras watching, I don't think that would be a good idea, do you ? -
This is a "no-brainer", as our American cousins would say. Forrest it is.
-
With the name of our beloved club being dragged through the mud because of the actions of two moronic individuals, Fulham on Saturday provides the opportunity to show the world what real Blackburn Rovers supporters are made of. Fulham fans will be a full baiting mode and the national media will be watching and listening to everything we do so let's show them the true Blackburn Rovers by raising the roof at Craven Cottage and giving Andrew Cole the biggest and best reception he's ever had. After all, he would still be at Ewood Park and we would not be bottom of the league but for a bone-headed former manager.
-
That solves the mystery then. It was you mouthing off at Dwight Yorke.
-
Elsewhere, former Rovers star David Speedie is in trouble for using the words "niggers" and blackies" several times during a speech at a charity dinner in Darlington. Perhaps Big Ron wrote his script.
-
Yorke Baboons Hunted By Cops says Page 9 of tomorrow's Sun. There the two are in all their glory mouthing off at Yorke. Telephones numbers are provided to ring if you recognise them.
-
Are you sure ? If so, it sheds whole new light on this incident ! Could be Villa or Scunthorpe I suppose ?
-
banned for life? Have you never done anything that you regret later after having a few pints and in the heat of the moment? If this nincompoop is proved to have abused Yorke the club has promised to take the "strongest possible action", which in my book means banning him for life. Quite right too.
-
Another memo to John Williams: Contact Steve Bruce and Dwight Yorke as well and ask them to put out a statement confirming that only one fan was involved. Yorke might also be perusaded to say some nice things about Rovers fans at the same time. This is a damage limitation exercise.
-
Rightly or wrongly, Rovers have now been branded a racist club. The club needs to nip this in the bud within the next hour by putting out a strongly worded statement emphasizing that only one fan was involved, that he was thrown out of Ewood and that he will be banned for life. Are you listening Mr Williams ? ? ? This requires action NOW, not a Tuesday to Friday effort like Tony Parkes.
-
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Are you serious ? Dunn is as close to getting in the England squad as I am ! Even if he were fully fit and playing at his best, can you explain how he is going to be first choice in front of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Jenas, Hargreaves or Wright-Phillips ?
-
Whoever insulted Yorke will be pleased to know his picture is on the back page of the Sun tomorrow together with 144pt headlines. Interesting test of John Williams today (Monday) to see if he deals with this incident quickly and decisively. Like he did with Tony Parkes.

Great entertainment doesn't win relegation battles. I'm more depressed now than before kick-off. Some observations: We are still bottom and we cannot beat the likes of Soton, West Brom, Norwich and Birmingham, our fellow strugglers. Hughes shows no sign of solving the dreadful defensive deficiencies that were apparent in his second game in charge against Bournemouth. Birmingham had the worst goalscoring record in the Premiership before today. McEveley is too slow for left back but who we play in his place I couldn't say. The alternatives are just as bad. Todd was awful and Johansson only marginally less so. We have nine defenders in the squad yet none of them are any good. Souness, I curse you for selling David Dunn and Andrew Cole. May Lady Luck pinch you on the bottom and give you a sore arse for the rest of the season. -
Talking out of your derriere as usual. Yorke should be able to warm up anywhere he likes without some moron making monkey noises at him. Wasn't you perchance ?

Really ? I should think the editor has been sacked by now then. Really ? So victory away to poxy Palace makes him a wonderful manager ? I'd have thought that in the medium term the headline was spot-on. The Newcastle press are like the Scots: supporters with typewriters. They won't suffer a fool like Souness for long. -
[Archived] Poll - Falling Attendances.

Perhaps you're just getting older ? It happens to us all eventually ! I've long held the view that television will ultimately destroy football. Familiarity breeds contempt (who needs Sky anyway ? - there is so much football on terrestrial TV to satisfy even the most ardent fan) and that is certainly the case now. I rarely watch a live game and only Match of the Day when Rovers have drawn or won (I can't bear to watch defeats). Anyone remember snooker ? The whole country was glued to the box 20 years ago when Steve Davis et al were in their pomp but, again, overexposure, too many televised tournaments, killed interest. In all honesty, who watches snooker on TV now apart from housebound old folks ? And who's interested anyway ? My feeling is that Premiership crowds outside the top few clubs may have peaked last season and that there will be a gentle decline in average attendances. I say the top three or four because Arsenal, Chelsea, ManU and Liverpool are all in the process of or planning to increase capacity at their grounds. More money and more power to them: a depressing thought. In my view it is not acceptable for people to shrug their shoulders and say that lower crowds are OK as long as the TV money keeps rolling in and clubs are profitable. In the long term the game will suffer as fans get out of the habit of watching football live. There is a ray of hope though. Italy and Russia, to name two, are suffering severe drops in crowd numbers and Uefa is finally waking up to the fact that the Champions League, television money, the G14 junta is distorting the balance of power in European football and that middle-sized and smaller clubs, international football and the game itself is suffering. Whether they will actually take decisive action is another matter. -

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I was feeling glum today and that's just about put the lid on it.
