  1. Less than 70 now. These 2 are looking very comfortable. One breakthrough and the rest could follow. It's a nail-biter all right
  2. Phillips and Yates look to me potentially 2 very good signings. I don't understand the reluctance to sell Gallaghe. If Ipswich want him that badly then Rovers should let him go.
  3. Ashwin is the key here -he's a decent lower order batsman. Get him and a remarkable victory might be on.
  4. Brilliant effort by Pope without which England would likely have been facing an innings defeat Root England's best bowler by a long way. Hartley's figures are pretty horrible It's asking alot of inexperienced bowlers to win this but they have to bowl better next time.
  5. The most revealing phrase in the statement perhaps is "with a further tranche of funds set to be received in due course" Set to be received from the sale of Wharton presumably and confirming his sale will be used for running costs?
  6. So funding is in place until the end of the season and they hope the legal case will be resolved after then The uncertainty continues and nothing is resolved
  7. Innings defeat? It wouldn’t be surprising. Root England’s best bowler too, and Foakes dropped Rahul on 0, again off Root.
  8. His commitment is questionable at the best of times. Knowing he's off somewhere else in a life-changing move and an injury might jeopardise it, there's little point picking him
  9. Unlikely. They've probably never heard of Wharton either. They may not even know there's an offer in for him. But they understand £20 million. And they'll thank their favourite son Steve Waggott on a job well done
  10. "Well done Mr Waggott for securing £25 million. How much would you like as a bonus?" "One million will do nicely thank you madam"
  11. The owners must be loving this - developing young players and selling them on for a good fee is their business model to perfection and vindication for carrying on in the same way
  12. I'd love to know how we're going to be involved in the promotion race Wharton won't save us from relegation but in the event of a sale not buying at least 2 replacements will possibly do so
  13. And there is the risk If Wharton is sold for £18 million there is NO guarantee that ANY of the money will be spent on new players but will be used to reduce debt and / or everyday running costs.
  14. Would Tomasson or Broughton have any say in whether a sale goes ahead or get any of the money to spend?
  15. Bazball facing its toughest test in India and the traditional England batting weakness against spin and India racing to 119-1 in reply doesn’t augur well. England potentially bowling last on this pitch is good but will India let them by building a huge total and bowling England out again?
  16. There could be something in the Palace-Wharton story. South London Press is a well established local newspaper with a good reputation. Many national journalists have moved to Fleet Street from there. Still think it's wrong move for him and far too early. He must be disillusioned at what's happened at Ewood this season. "Love" of a club only goes so far
  17. Wharton is only just up to Championship speed and isn't ready for the Premier League yet. And he can do better than Palace, if he's prepared to wait.
  18. To me, it says fans have given up and don't care any more. Reading fans showed they cared when they sat down on the pitch and halted the recent match against Port Vale. The publicity has given their campaign to remove their owners a huge boost It might get us a points deduction but we look like we could be going down anyway. At least football might understand our plight
  19. Why indeed. Americans love history and we are a historic club that goes back to the very birth of English football and the professional game. I'm not saying there'd be a queue to buy Rovers if / when Venky's depart but we have a good story to tell and would be an attractive target for someone.
  20. It's in the public domain that Ipswich are interested so it's fair enough to discuss it. You have to say Gallagher might have been a much better player with Warnock barking at him every day of the week
  21. Maggott penny pinching on club kit so his £300,000 plus salary plus bonuses is secure and safe. Of course he would
  22. Unless he quits (gives it up as a bad job with a trademark blast at his “superiors” on the way out) or another club comes in for him. At the moment though the Tomasson brand is badly damaged because of our terrible results so thats less likely to happen. Overall though I reckon we’re stuck with him
  23. Not one post in this thread after apparently one of the worst performances at Ewood in years. We are rock bottom of the table on points gained since December too. Is no one concerned?
  24. It was tongue in cheek and we had some poor periods under him But this present team is the far worse than any of his sides IMO and the manager doesn’t seem to know what to do. It’s going to be really touch and go whether we stay up
  25. There’s always an excuse for Tomasson. You’re one of the culprits
