  1. The whole country is a disgrace - everywhere you travel there is litter. The casual littering from motorists is probably worse than the fly-tipping with the roadsides inundated with filth I travelled on 100 miles of autobahn in Austria and Germany recently and I counted fewer than 10 pieces of litter in the whole journey. France isn't quite as good but still way better than here (Paris excepted). Heavens knows what they think when they come over here.
  2. Who was that elderly big Spanish lump we hired for about half a season - Yordi?? This Birmingham player sounds like him. Desperation comes to mind
  3. Gallagher would have been more use at West Brom as a centre half after Hyam's woeful performance. The question is why rarely wins headers in the box as a centre forward
  4. Waggott is in his mid to late 60s IIRC; he must have millions in the bank from his years in football In most jobs, he'd have retired by now but as you say, when you're on a cushy number.......
  5. Mass pitch invasion and sit-down protest during a match and bring it to a halt. Guaranteed headlines across the world's media. Even India Worth a try.
  6. Begs the questions of who are they and why do they think they can speak on behalf of all Rovers fans ManU fans have been protesting about the Glazers for many years - as have fans of the owners of other clubs - so why shouldn't Rovers fans protest about ours? Protests don't have to be confined to owners either. Failing managers should be targets too
  7. Pride. Sometimes called arrogance. Refusal to admit they got it wrong and make a big mistake. It’s a big thing among Indians, probably worse amongst its elite. We’ve gone from the pending file to the bottom of the drawer. They’ll probably get the file out every year or so to see if their problem child has improved, then tuck it away again for another day And so it goes on
  8. Sounds good. Have you spoken to the sports editors and / or news editors of local media asking why they haven't used your stuff? It could be it's not quite what they're looking for, or maybe in the wrong format, or maybe they would prefer to contact the Trust when needed for comments on breaking news stories. To that end the Trust needs to make itself the media's main contact point for the views of Rovers fans - this of course involves building relationships with individuals and time and effort by Trust members. An appointed Trust spokesman would also need to be comfortable talking to the media.
  9. They're billionaires (apparently). We're nothing to them, except a minor item at the bottom of the balance sheet. They could just stick Rovers in the metaphorical bottom drawer as a bad investment gone wrong, to be forgotten about and allowed to wither on the vine. We could slip down the divisions and into non-league and still they might not bother. There's very little that is easily apparent that would ever force them to go away
  10. I'd have thought it could act as a kind of unofficial mouthpiece for Rovers fans. Trust members are supporters and aware of the mood around Ewood, so in event of a contentious issue (eg, the Cambridge ticket controversy), it could release a statement giving the fans' point of view. It might provide a comment after one of Tomasson's press conferences, backing (or otherwise) his views on the problems with the squad and the club's difficulties in making signings There's lots that can be done to get the Trust (and Rovers) more in the media spotlight and yes, I do realise it does depend on people coming forward and putting in the time and effort
  11. Does the Rovers Trust have a press officer pushing Rovers to the forefront of the MSM? Looking at the website, the News Section has very little that would be of interest to the media To take the threatened winding-up for instance, I couldn't see a news story, or some sort of comment piece
  12. Interesting From the outside the club appears to be reaching a critical point. We could be heading down a financial plug hole off the field and about sink into the lower divisions on it. The gloves should be off IMO. Hard questions need to be asked, and answers given. No fobbing off from the "management" The Trust may already have done so (I don't know) but it would also help if they could speak directly to the organ grinders and not the monkeys. Regular and hard hitting press releases would be good. This isn't criticism, all the best to all those involved.
  13. It would be interesting to know how you define "critical friend" of the club, whether you are more critical or more of a friend. The fact you praised the owners in the same post suggests it is the latter. This isn't to denigrate the valuable work that the Trust does, but there must come a point where you realise you're banging your head against a wall and the time has come to adopt a more critical and public approach.
  14. It's still very odd that no one spotted this story back in April or whenever, and that those who did, or knew about it, failed to make more of it. Do they know a potentially big story when they see one?
  15. Fair enough.... it's odd why it's resurfaced tonight and quite alot of regulars didn't know about it
  16. If this story was in the public domain months ago as claimed unless I missed it why wasn't it more widely reported in the local media? I know local football journalism has gone downhill over the years but there's still one or two reporters who know a good story when they see one
  17. Protests are fine but it's answers that are required. This is potentially a big story that poses so many questions. Why was the club threatened with the winding up order? What are happened since then? Has the threat been dropped or is it still ongoing? Or has the threat developed into an actual winding up order? Waggott is the CEO. He will know. He can't hide.
  18. The local media might have missed this but they need to be on the phone to Waggott first thing tomorrow for a reaction
  19. Another is Jason Steele. Dreadful with us (almost as bad as Wahlstedt), now playing Premier League. Defies belief
  20. Why? He looks like he should be playing Under-18 football On another note anyone who thinks Adam Wharton is worth £20 million needs to have a lie down On his potential as an as yet unproven but promising player we might get £2 million. On yesterday's performance we'd be lucky to get £200,000
  21. To be fair to Brittain, the shot for the 2nd went through his legs. It happens. He's a right back - and a good one when he's playing well - not a left back Agree with the rest. I felt the players bar Tronstad and Garrett were just going through the motions. That's all down to the manager.
  22. Tomasson is regarded as a top coach so here's 2 jobs for him on the training ground before the next game 1. Get his goalkeeper to practice catching / clearing crosses / high balls / long throw-in into the 6-yard box and dominate the box physically instead of being pushed around. Repeat 100 times a day, time after time, until it becomes second nature 1. Get his defenders to defend properly against crosses / high balls / long throw-in into the penalty area. Repeat 100 times a day, time after time, until it becomes second nature Nothing else. We have to stop conceding, soft, sloppy goals
  23. Rovers away fans sang for most of the 90 minutes as they always do but not like today. I've never heard them turn on Rovers before, even sarcastically cheering our rare shots on goal and Wahlstedt when he actually managed to catch a ball. I have to say I didn't hear any anti-Tomasson or Venky's stuff but I overheard more than a few people saying this team is going to get relegated. By contrast, West Brom fans were pretty subdued but then Albion didn't so much win the game than have it handed to them on a plate. It must have felt like a hollow victory for them because the opposition was so poor. Good club WBA: if I had the misfortune to live in the West Midlands they'd be my team.
  24. Garrett had a good game I thought and looked like he actually cared. Wharton spent most his match waving his arms at his team-mates. All our defensive problems stem from the goalkeeper. Wahlstedt is probably the worst I've seen in a Rovers shirt - and we've had some bad ones in recent years.
  25. Our best forward isn't saying much. Gallagher still has the same old Ribblesdale cement in his boots - there was one period where the ball bounced 2 yards from his feet 3 times in less than minute. His ball control is very poor. I'd pick him over Leonard though who like Moran continues to look like a schoolboy footballer playing in the men's game
