  1. Stanway should have buried that early chance
  2. Nationals have been full of England stories right through the WWC and particularly since the quarters - great reading Decent piece on the BBC 10pm news tonight but the BBC were out of order last night. There is no news value in ManU v Wolves. Goods news editors are like good footballers - worth paying for. You're sacked
  3. Never heard of previews? The build-up to big games?? News from the WWC England camp was on all the main networks, except the BBC, which chose to have a piece on ManU v Wolves The news editor needs a good bollocking
  4. On another note, WTF was ManU v Wolves featured on the BBC 10pm news and the women's World Cup semi-final less than 48 hours from kick-off ignored? The WWC has attracted enormous interest while most people outside partizan supporters s of both clubs couldn't give two hoots about the game at Old Trafford A bizarre and poor editorial decision
  5. As you know the years pass by in the blink of an eye as you get older. So 30 years ago seems like yesterday to me. It all goes quickly. Speedie and that cohort are to my mind very much in the modern mould and very different to the players of the early 1960s when I first started going to matches.
  6. Tronstadt looks another Trybull to me , not offering much and bit well, what's the modern word..... meh? Certainly not a player to make a difference. The club were after O'Brien in January, the type of midfield enforcer we need. So where is his replacement?
  7. Guardiola’s Barcelona always took short corners. Worked the ball back to the centre halves and started playing their boring tikka talks stuff again rather than risk giving the ball away by hitting it long across goal. Dull as ditchwater and not what I want to watch. I used to turn the TV off
  8. It was a problem last season and it's going to happen right through this season too. Managers in this league know it and they know how to play against us None, but none, of the team's problems have been addressed in the summer transfer window. We still lack physical presence and we're still at least 2 strikers short.
  9. If only - one of the best players to have pulled on a Rovers shirt in the modern era
  10. Showing that he's better as a sub and not a starter
  11. We need bigger, more physical, forwards, and not big like Gallagher who has all then physicality of a big girl's blouse Luton had big lump up front called Morris last season - perfect for what we need
  12. Great drama, shame about the result....... now come on England
  13. Brighton to receive British record £111m for Moises Caicedo That's third division Brighton, as in Hove Albion Caicedo joined Brighton from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle for £4m in February 2021 Over to you and your scouting team Gregg
  14. I remember Coddington as a classic lower league English centre-half - uncompromising, tough as nails, hard in the tackle and would put his head in areas where many players would think twice about putting a foot. There's no way you'd call him skilful and he'd look at Rovers' present centre-halves playing the ball around at the back and wonder what the hell was going on but he was of his era and he was a good player for Rovers and I enjoyed watching him. RIP.
  15. Never heard of him For lovers of One Foot in the Grave, this lovely lady was a star. RIP Mrs Warboys https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66456002
  16. Dyche has "no plan". If there's one thing that cannot be levelled at Dyche is not having a plan. Dyche will keep Everton up, and Wolves will stay up too. O'Neill know what he's doing. I've a horrible feeling Luton will be OK too, though would love to see them go down Sheff Utd will struggle and there's often one unexpectedly gets in trouble and falls through the trap door - last season it was Leicester. Any one or three of Bournemouth, Brentford or Fulham would be good.
  17. Good old Tone, he loves cup competitions
  18. That’s pretty impressive seeing as they’re complete opposites
  19. England out of jail there
  20. It's like watching Luton v Rovers last season - one team, fast, big, strong, physical and organised, the other skilful but easily knocked off the ball and prone to mistakes
  21. Penalties look to be England's best hope
  22. England have their work cut out here - Nigeria are competitive and strong and athletic and have a bit of a nasty streak too. One mistake and they're out
  23. Hope this is the start of a good cup run. Unlike his predecessor Tomasson appeared to take both cups seriously last season - the match at Leicester last season was one of my best Rovers away nights in years. Cup runs excite the fans and give the club a real feelgood factor and more of the same would be welcome. We most certainly don't want to go out to the likes of Walsall Rovers 3 Walsall 1
  24. 1-0 Ipswich. Not such an enormous step-up from League 1 after all
