  1. For a functional club, selling our only goalscorer for a profit on the back of selling an England quality talent and getting some other bits would help to fund a proper rebuild, whilst being able to keep a bit back to run the club. Here, we all know (well, nearly) that we are destined to go one way, relegation will follow this season, and it helps our terrible owners (still not all the focus is on them, even snakes enabling it like Waggott and Suhail arent the issue) to keep the lights on amidst their misdemeanours. Chaddy is an outlier who is doubling down on his superfan shite, thinking we are about to sign some good players and potentially improve. Including the goal machine signing of Lyndon Dykes. Eustace doesnt have the same willingness to speak up like Tomasson but even he seems worn out and pissed off. I wonder if he will quit.
  2. In what context? Seems particularly vague even for him. Although its a fair assumption that we all know.
  3. He has released stories weekly throughout the last 2 months. Signings made. Zero.
  4. We have consistently played and brought through youngsters in recent years. If anything, at times overly so due to the lack of competitive budget.
  5. The ones from League 1 will have had wage increases twice upon promotion.
  6. It is a friendly v a League 2 side with Yann Songo'o in it. In the Championship he is usually anonymous.
  7. I would like to think even amidst the financial situation and the way the club is run that we will at least sign a senior keeper. Sadly, I expect someone on a short term deal, above 35 years old and with Pears still our number 1, making mistake after mistake.
  8. Also no Vale. I wonder if Vale and Gent are being primed for exits or will be subs tomorrow.
  9. That side tonight shows exactly how weak we are. Thats our second string and 6 dont have a league minute between them. Markanday and Garrett are miles off it, Buckley has been poor for a good while, Hedges is prone to injury and O'Riordan again is an unknown quantity. And thats not factoring in the weaknesses of our expected first 11. Pears in net, Sigurdsson, Dolan and Gallagher trying to get the goals. I wonder if Sigurdsson isnt involved because he will play again ahead of Szmodics tomorrow.
  10. Putting aside your previous comments about having his legs broke, why would we take such a drastic view? If they dont bid a reasonable amount, we might have a bit of a strop but we cant afford to let him rot.
  11. We clearly have different opinions on how he will help/hinder us. But surely we agree that the time of any potential new contract at the end of pre season is crazy.
  12. He definitely isnt quicker than Hyam. Hyam can play in a back 4 and in a team that doesnt have to defend its own 18 yard box.
  13. Obviously our opinion doesnt count really. But just because Eustace wants it. And that assumes that he does, because its not as straightforward as that because hes clearly got no money to play with. That doesnt make it automatically the correct decision. He is too old, he cannot play in a back 4, he is so slow that we have to play really deep to cover his lack of pace (see Plymouth for how that can go wrong) and he he turns 38 this season. And what is key. This was surely an easy deal to do. So if we were so keen, at least sign him up before the end of pre season.
  14. So weve allowed him to miss a whole pre season then decided to go back for him out of desperation? So not only is he not far off 38 years old. But he is going to be unfit. Terrible idea.
  15. Whilst I agree regarding his track record. The points made in the post quoted are not wrong.
  16. Thats a great point actually. Ive seen mentions that this is a signing picked out by the new staff but initial reports linking us said we tried to get him last winter. Dolan isnt fast to be fair. But is still just about more useful than Burke.
  17. Not with 10 men we wont. Well 9 if you include Sigurdsson. Is it yourself that keeps telling Elliott Jackson that you expect Szmodics to be gone by tomorrow?
  18. Even "starting to get deals over the line," they have either signed or not and at the moment with our penultimate pre season double header tomorrow/Saturday, we have 0. We should be well beyond talking to loads of players a week. Bodies in. Better than Humphreys.
  19. The thing with the Humphrys link is again, its registered interest, not even a confirmation of a contract offer. I dont think we should be going for him but if we want him, surely we are beyond the stage of pissing around. Cant be a hard one to get done as other interest wont be at this level and pre season will be over soon.
  20. Better to have too much quality to be trimmed rather than not enough. He ha signed a number of players already. Hopefully they underachieve but hard not to see them as a big favourite without blue and white tinted glasses.
  21. A freebie makes more sense, seems like we are still probably unable to pay a fee so hopefully if he signs it turns out to be a brilliant bit of out of the box thinking.
  22. Talk of how we wants to play seems very flawed based on pre season games where he needs to balance teams to give players minutes and none are his players. How can anyone possibly have concluded that he wants quick wide men and plenty of crosses at this stage based on his time here seems baseless. And our midfielders just happen to all be cloggers now Wharton has gone. He seems like a very pragmatic manager focused on clean sheets and isnt bothered about entertainment but again thats based on players that arent his. (Plus his Birmingham side)
  23. Fair to say that Birmingham fans werent impressed. Nor Sheff United fans.
  24. Are the minutes likely in the next couple of days or are they likely to be longer?
