  1. Gerrard is a crap manager. That being said, I refuse to believe that there is no willing manager in world football that couldnt improve on the terrible results that would have led to relegation under Marsch.
  2. A decent point but our ability to hold on to leads has long gone and another winless game post World Cup. Going forward we again didnt create much and the usage of Brereton amidst a tactic of not far off a back 6 is infuriating, surely if you are going to play so defensively you at least have him up top and Dolan further back? He obviously should have been sold and he may be protecting against injury but the usage of him so deep by the manager is really hindering him. Our only threat comes from Dack who is the one who sniffs out chances. Thomas didnt do much again but we did look slightly better without Vale clogging things up. Defensively under Tomasson aside from semi regular horror shows we look well drilled but have to weather too much. Carter was man of the match and Wharton has improved alongside him, big question mark once Hyam returns as to what we do. Travis much better and back to his self alongside the inept Morton, full backs fine and Peara dealt with most things although made a terrible mistake that should have cost us.
  3. Doesnt mean they werent right to sack a manager who couldnt win a game.
  4. He was repeatedly failing to win games. Those players can be used by a new, better manager.
  5. Hopefully Brereton will be down the middle and Dolan wide left. Glad Vale has been dropped from the squad. Watford look strong with Pedro back so can only see a home win.
  6. Leeds couldnt win a game, they were heading in one direction.
  7. We have created very few chances in those games. We have got worse after the manager has had more time with the players which is a big worry.
  8. Wickham would be a really desperate signing, he isn't particularly good on the rare occasions that he is fit enough to play. Is he better than Vale? Yes, every striker in the league is but Vale shouldn't be playing even amongst our limited options. Brereton, Dolan and Gallagher should be the 3 choices.
  9. Its a strange season with the World Cup break but a whole month with the players should have given Tomasson a unique chance to really work to push on his supposed style and build on a good start in regards to results albeit with very indifferent performances. We have been however noticeably worse since, creating no chances and results have also nosedived. Out of interest @chaddyrovers do you agree that performances have improved/been good since the World Cup?
  10. Yet you would turn your nose up at such managers coming here because of their style of football. When Tomasson plays football that is even more dull, you are the first to defend him. Hypocrisy. Had he said it he would have been jumped on with criticism and understandably so. Since the international break, we embarrassed ourselves v Preston, we got a good win at Norwich but it was a grind with a couple of lucky goals, we were terrible at Sunderland and barely had a shot, we deserved to lose v Boro, the Cardiff win was a borefest, the less said about Rotherham the better and then we were underwhelming at Bristol City and pitiful the other night v Wigan. The standard of performance has been as poor as it has all season and has gone further downhill even since prior to the World Cup.
  11. I know that he seemingly played in various positions with the kids, but I don't really see this versatile player at first team member. His purple patch has been built on concentration and defending well one on one, aside from the cup game v Birmingham he hasn't offered much going forward but he has been steady. He lacks the pace and skill to worry full backs and central midfield would be an all together different proposition at 100mph.
  12. His last 7 games yielding 0 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses. Regardless of the subsequent search, how anyone can justify him staying on is beyond me. You seem to just be against sacking managers regardless of results, case in point at Everton where they have already improved. You are also naive about the Premier League clubs if something comes up that it is better for them financially.
  13. Let's hope that we play Brereton up front and Vale is dropped from the squad, that would help. Can we please stop with the superfan rubbish, what I say on this messageboard makes absolutely no difference to Pears as a person. He has filled in a couple of times this season and done fine, fair play, but in general he has made bad errors before and I don't think that if he played for an extended period of time, he would suddenly cut them out, and with Kaminski having been our best player this season (Without him we would probably be in the bottom half) it is a significant downgrade and a huge blow.
  14. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-form-tomasson-critcism-26210665 Apparently we are improving and have created chances. He is in denial.
  15. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/team-news-watford-v-blackburn-rovers Cleverley, Sema and Kabesele back and Pedro fit enough to play 45 minutes.
  16. I don't think that the key can possibly lie in loads of crosses, with just one striker trying to get on the end of them. I think pace on the counter attack has to be the key. Giant blow that Kaminski seemingly has a bad injury, reading the LT article today. People may think it is a blessing after a couple of mistakes and with Pears doing fine in the cup, but over time, it will cost us.
  17. It feels sometimes like the ticket deals are targeted to justify the theory that low prices dont always massively increase crowds. Either targeting cup games or bringing in conditions like bring a friend.
  18. Why would they be trying to spite us?
  19. Why did he have no reason to doubt processes that have hardly led to a successful 10 years?
  20. Mowbray could argue having had full ssasons of promotion in League 1, 15th, 11th, 15th and 8th that progress was made somewhat, as much as I am glad that he has gone. I don't really see the distinction between his journey and the project. Both are doomed to fail because of people above them. Mowbray is a half decent Championship manager, Tomasson so far likewise across the season. A project would involve regular trading of assets and reinvestment and that doesnt happen because of the owners.
  21. Im not sure that we have the players to suit loads of crosses, but we are better as a counter attacking team I think. In Brereton, Dolan, Hedges, Thomas and Gallagher we have players who can get forward quickly and we have Dack who has a good choice of pass and the ability to run in from deep.
  22. Our primary objective is to develop and let leave for free. We have an over-reliance on our academy, as good as it is.
  23. You would drop Vale even though he was "good" on Monday? That team is frightening, Dack has to play. I would struggle to justify dropping Brereton just because as poor as he has been lately, he is still as likely to score as anyone there.
  24. I'm not sure he did, he made up the numbers I think off the back of no reinvestment of the Armstrong money.
  25. Why are Broughton and Senior so different? If Broughton is a "football man" then he hasn't really shown it so far.
