Championship 21/22

West Brom are seemingly signing John Swift on a free according to John Percy on Twitter. Excellent signing and along with a fit again Dike they should have a much bigger goal threat, plus they have been linked with Jed Wallace. Steve Bruce is a bit of a weird one, so many aspects of his management especially tactically are questionable but you cant argue with his track record at this level. In a league with very little quality, I would be surprised if they dont make the top 6. -
Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?

Magloire has always looked a million miles away from ever being a Championship player whenever he has played, it made no sense to extend his contract. -

Even for the under 23s he wasnt first choice it seems, not that its competitive football all the same. -

Putting the nepotism argument to one side, why is he behind Eastham? Seemingly signed for a pittance from a backwater to play in the youth team, didnt develop as hoped, not ideal, but not a scandal either. -

Is he? Pears is crap but Stergiakis seems to have fallen to at least 4th choice. I think he perhaps benefits from being more of a stand out interesting signing from abroad. -
That patch of centre backs mentioned would need someone very biased to be described as "very good!" Stones is the best of the bunch but is not top quality, he wouldn't get into City's side if everyone was fit. Tomori has seemingly impressed at Milan although I can't say that I have seen him play. The rest are average. Maguire has shown his many flaws, Gomez had potential that has not been built on due partially to injuries and also even when fit he doesn't get close to that Liverpool side. Guehi is talented but raw, White is poor in the air, average in general and Mings is a walking disaster.

I love the same endless cycle. One or two posters saying the same things about how the club has lots of interesting developments with the patronising undertone of how everyone else doesn't know what is happening. People naturally ask for detail, no answer is given and those people are told to go and ask themselves. For what its worth, Rich Sharpe reckons the pitch is just the usual work as seen every year. Presumably Venkys still arent willing to spend the required 2m.

As touched upon, why are they the only 2 options? But Waggott probably has a good education and more than a passing interest in football. In fact he has done similar jobs at other clubs and will have a far better knowledge of football in this country. Doesnt mean that I want him to continue because I am unimpressed by him and would welcome a change.

Some staggering stuff on here today. It shouldnt require an unqualified family member to be in a role to generate any interest in a club they own. The standards that people now have. First we have at least we arent out of business, at least they pay the bills, at least we dont have massive points deductions. Now its at least they will potentially prioritise us slightly more, surely he cant be any worse, he went to a decent uni, he seems quite bright, as long as he has a "minimum degree of competence."

Venkys dont put the money up in terms of out of ambition to further the club, they merely offset the losses that most Championship clubs incur hence why we havent gone out of business.

Burnley would be wise to avoid the lazy appointment of Jackson, how many times have we seen a novice take temporary charge, see a slight initial bounce followed by a struggle once permanently appointed. They would also be wise to avoid the sentimental appointment of a Barton or Duff, fans often have an obsession with former players but you don't pick managers based on what they do as a player. The likes of Farke and Carvalhal are sadly going to be attracted much more to a side recently relegated but they would be the sensible type of appointments. They should have kept Dyche. Hopefully they act irrationally of course because that first season down is crucial and if they mess it up they could become stuck.

It isn't as simple as that, many people (not you as you've previously mentioned working shifts and as ever don't empathise) work 9-5 and that is when the ticket office is open. But point being, they should make it as easy and be as accommodating of everyone as possible rather than work off a "everyone should know how" policy!
-
Are they only considering former players?

Says alot about Venkys that the things some people are grateful for what they havent done rather than what they have done. They havent allowed the club to fold, they havent incurred huge points deductions, they havent dismantled (yet) the academy.

He was playing further forward in the first half when he was far more effective. Im not convinced that he can dictate games but I suppose we wont know either way until he plays there. His best ever run of form came as a false 9 when he regularly pressed as he does very well to win us the ball high up, and it suits him playing further forward because he can play that final pass. Of course his main weakness is his lack of goal threat and that was really evident when he was persisted with as a false 9 for too long. Even when we played 433, he was much further forward than Travis and Rothwell.
