  1. Did they? Mowbray used to always go on about wanting Gallagher to get headers on the back post. Either way, I wouldn't play him wide.
  2. He is a "rookie manager down here" as a matter of fact. Of course, experience specific to this league like with players isn't critical to be a success. Owen Coyle and Paul Lambert have loads of experience including promotions in this league on their CV, Ancelotti, Klopp and Guardiola don't.
  3. Of course the delayed appointment is somewhat of a mitigating factor but last summer it was blatantly obvious that the taps had been turned off and we were waiting with a begging bowl to see who we could borrow. This season the message is that we do have money which should make things easier. On Szmodics, his struggles at Championship level mean that I am not overly concerned if he is not coming, but we do need at least one attacking player as soon as we can and I hope that we are well on with signing one. Whilst Brereton is here, I personally think that someone who can play as the striker is more pressing as Gallagher isn't great and Vale is untested, and we can line up a left sider to replace Brereton as soon as he leaves.
  4. Exactly. Markanday could have a breakthrough season and score 8 or 9 goals for example, and especially considering he seemingly pushed to leave, Spurs would hardly rue a massive mistake. You seem to put a big emphasis on that one match in which the Barnsley globetrotters put up an excellent 2-1 loss! The last sentence is a needless equivalent to calling me negative. I would love him back but I can't see him being obtainable and I would be surprised if we spent over £3m on a fee, something we have done 3 times in 9 or 10 years unless I have missed someone?
  5. Why does it always come back to calling people negative? It isn't helpful nor a hindrance to the team what people put on this messageboard.
  6. Gallagher wide? Mowbray would have been lynched!
  7. A bit simplistic to suggest that big teams dont make many mistakes. Most importantly, the standards between the big teams and ourselves is huge, take players like Travis who was let go by, Rothwell who was let go by Man United, Pearson who is as good a midfielder as youll get at this level who was let go by United, the list goes on.
  8. Dack played an hour at the weekend. I don't think he will start but I don't see why he can't play another hour on Saturday.
  9. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/20519711.jon-dahl-tomasson-delivers-blackburn-rovers-transfer-latest/ Not much new, aside from the similar method we have heard every summer in recent memory, that we are waiting for Premier League teams to come back from pre-season tours to speed up the market. Also a call for experience. Hopefully that relates to permanent players rather than just loans and some money will be spent.
  10. Assuming no transfers between now and then: Kaminski Brittain Ayala Wharton Pickering Travis Buckley Hedges Dack Brereton Gallagher Subs: Pears, Carter, Edun, Garrett, Markanday, Dolan, Vale
  11. I think Southampton had a bid for Delap well over 8 figures rejected.
  12. I suppose there could be merit in the idea that he was initially unavailable and that changed, although Brighton have not signed any new centre backs from what I have seen. I meant more that Van Hecke was so impressive on loan that he was surely as relevant as anyone when looking for a centre back, so subject to a sudden availability, I would find it a bit strange that he was down the list at all and not at the top. I personally don't see it happening unfortunately. You have just dreamt up random figures in your head there. I am not convinced that he is a target, I am not convinced that we will spend £3m on one player in this window, I am not convinced that your hypothetical financial package would attract him, and if that would get him, I bet bigger sides would snap him up. Would love to be wrong and for him to be announced as a Rovers signing but I would be as surprised as I would be delighted.
  13. Then I don't get why Tomasson talking about signing autographs at an open training session and making a connection is comparable to Mowbray deflecting the attention away from his players in a poor run of form.
  14. And there is no suggestion that he is carrying/not recovered from an injury. He was training during the week when we stayed in Scotland according to Tomasson, and he played an hour on Saturday and trained today. No one is match fit at the moment, not for competitive games, so it makes sense to me to start him, knowing he is unlikely to last the distance, rather than "build him up" with cameos which will actually make him even rustier compared to the rest of the team.
  15. Obviously tongue in cheek somewhat saying monster and not specific to you but there has been a common theme regarding comparing everything including how Tomasson is in public with Mowbray whilst using a false image of him. Mowbray seemed like a nice guy and was always willing to speak to fans and have his pictures taken at such events, lets not create a false image of him based on a bit of resentment when things went sour on the pitch right at the end. Glad of the change and excited to see how Tomasson does but your last sentence was unnecessary.
  16. Burnley knocked them out in Europe the other year before losing to Olympiakos.
  17. If there is any truth in us already failing in 2 seperate defender signings, another thing aside from the chance of him being in Brighton's first team, unaffordable and/or attractive to richer clubs should he become available, why would he be so far down our list if he was a genuine target? Seems like wishful thinking.
  18. I always got the impression that Mowbray was also very personable at these sorts of events, as he was at things like fans forums where he had people saying on here how great a guy he was. It is great that Tomasson is seemingly connecting with the fans but that can be acknowledged without making the previous manager out to be a monster. Even if it did end a bit sour with frustration from all sides.
  19. My point was that surely he will only get further away from being match fit if he only plays cameos. He won't start but in my opinion, he should.
  20. He wont sign a new deal so its hypothetical but if he did, why would his stock now be likely as high as it will ever go for us? He is 23 years old.
  21. How do you know that Eustace is a good coach?
  22. You mentioned rescueing, he didnt rescue Burnley, they went from 18th to 18th. Similar to the remarkable job Lampard did taking Everton from 16th to 16th.
  23. No West Brom? They have done some excellent work in the transfer window and look far stronger than at least half of the teams you mention. Not sure on Luton, they have done some decent business but I think there are 6 teams better. Can see Birmingham really struggling, as likely as anyone to go down. Random managerial choice and poor squad.
  24. I think he could have easily fitted into a pressing game plus he has the composure to capitalise when we do win the ball high up much more than anyone else.
  25. Its obviously all dependant on how he comes back post injury, but if he is back to his old self, he is our best player so has to be part of plan A. Prior to injury, he certainly wasnt this immobile player that he is being painted as physically.
