  1. As others have mooted - Rothwell does something defences hate, and that's run at them from a central position. It forces the central defenders to either try and make a tackle often or retreat - in either case opening doors for the attacking team. It cannot be denied that when Rothwell, Johnson and Holtby started together towards the start of this season we looked our most effective. Rothwell, along with Nyambe, are firmly in the "Keep" column for me.
  2. Probably the biggest error in for the club in the last 30+ years
  3. Without meaning to be a pedant; Tosin went to Fulham and has been bang average. A good friend of mine is a Fulham fan and often moans about him. I agree he's excellent on the ball but not so good at what he's primarily in the side for. IMHO in whatever system you play, you need your defenders to primarily defend. We should be playing a "quarter back" if we want to continue in this system - someone who drops deep to take the balls from the centre halves and starts to dictate the ball from deep
  4. I thought we had some cast-iron guarantees that "Mogga" would be gone by now?! What's happened there then?
  5. It's been a real funny old season and one in which it feels like the end of an era. We started with real promise and gusto; and it really felt like we were setup to attack teams. Even in the games in which we got beaten, we were certainly in them and came close to scoring a few times. The garden seemed rosy and we looked good for a top 6 spot. Fast forward from the end of November, and we are spineless, toothless and structureless. Mowbray has besmirched himself with Rovers fans and his legacy will forever be dirtied. He could have left a positive mark in the minds and memories of Rovers fans the world over if he had shown class and dignity by walking away several weeks ago when it seemed like his time was up. I think most of the fanbase turned following the Preston defeat. I am certain his time is up and its a case of when and not if...but as others have said history dictates we will wait too long and I just pray we can conjure a win from somewhere to alleviate the very realistic prospect of relegation.
  6. Sames! I've got a lovely bottle of Woodford Reserve needing an excuse to be drank!
  7. Is it OK to start feeling excited about our prospects this season?
  8. Thanks for the sentiment but I cant take the credit for it; I merely shared this from a Facebook post I saw. I really it hope it happens. This guy really is Mr. Blackburn and its heartbreaking to see what this awful disease is doing to him
  9. Petition to rename The Riverside Can the post be pinned? Thanks.
  10. Petition to rename the Riverside
  11. Looks like we should have a good attendance tonight. I bought a couple of match tickets earlier today and couldn't find a decent seat anywhere!
  12. The Rao's luck has to change some time with an appointment. The law of averages suggests they will...look at the inbred lot down the road!
  13. If we had started the season with this back 4 we would be in a playoff spot right now
  14. When was the last time we won 3 back to back games in either of the top 2 divisions?
  15. I personally thought Johnson was tremendous. What an astute signing that guy is turning out to be. He and Travis in that deeper lying middle of the park must be up there with the best in the division. Cunningham and William's coming back in to the side has made us very solid. Obviously delighted with Walton too. Always looks good to save a pen but his height really helped towards the end to take the hanging crosses and pumps forward. The corner appears to have been turned and looks like the way weve played in the past couple of games we look like steely with our preferred defensive 7
  16. I'm shocked people think £4 a pint (or equivalent) is expensive for a pint of Fosters. Personally it's not something I would ever drink (unless I suddenly become 17 again); but its merely the higher end ot what I'd expect to pay in a pub these days. I'm completely unaware of prices in Blackburn but if I went out were I live (Southport) I would easily expect to pay close to a tenner for two decent pints. The bigger issue for me is season tickets. If the club were bold and rolled back prices akin to 2010 levels of £200; then I am certain the number sold would have been huge and a full(er) ground generates much greater income through both shirt sales and concourse sales.
  17. It's on SSN as confirmed Championship deals for today
  18. No but they nearly ruined us!
  19. Blog post from me around Charlton and our [lack of] defence which can be found
  20. TM is a good guy. I genuinely think he has the clubs interests at heart. I think when he inevitably gets the chop at some point he is remembered fondly. People really have forgotten how much of a basket case our great club had become before he walked through the door and in reality the guy plaited piss getting us promoted at the first time of asking from League 1. He clearly isn't perfect and he gets some things wrong but overall he gets more right than wrong IMHO. In Tony I trust
  21. Just bought match tickets for me and 2 of my kids. Little girls' first Rovers game and the first since my lad has become 'football mad' about 6 months ago so hoping we get a good win so he really falls in love. Rovers 2 - 0 Charlton
