  1. Would be an improvement on Ennis and Telalovic from Gregg.
  2. Broughton has done an okay job. Nothing amazing, and not a disaster which are the extremes often discussed on here. Very similar to almost every other club in Football. Szmodics - obviously a big yes please Trondstad - almost all of us agree we like the look of him Hyam - has some limitations, but a solid enough championship defender for sure, would look good with a big presence next to him Brittain, Moran, Hill, Sigurdsson, Morton, Thomas - nothing amazing but none are shocking, would all make our squad, Moran should step up to the level above in time, Sigurdsson looking good on paper but needs to deliver more. Wahlstedt, Ennis, Mola, Telalovic, Hirst - The worst of his bunch, the worrying part is 3 of them are strikers. They are barrel scrappers though with no budget. Chrisene, Ayari - No idea yet It's just a mixed bag, nobody can argue with that. He's had his hands tied, and I think the only big negative on him is his failure to bring in a striker (and the O'Brien stuff though I'm sure multiple people are to blame there). Other than that it's fairly as expected. He's also not scared to move out players on bigger wages who aren't at a promotion standard like Buckley and Travis (yes people will say he's moved to 2nd place in the league but he is not a Top 6 player and his lack of appearances now will confirm this in due course) and then moving on the younger lads who are miles off it like Markanday, Butterworth and Vale on loans. We're not in the days of Mowbray extending Elliott Bennetts contract and playing him full back because he's one of the lads.
  3. Agree there is a bit of recency bias at play there. Adam does have a higher ceiling though, but as you say, he has to go and do it (something Dunny didn't, but Duff arguably did)
  4. On the contrary, Liverpool with Torres / Suarez sales, Brighton with *insert player they made profit on* sales etc...There are cases on both sides, it all comes down to the set-up, scouts, recruitment team, manager and owners you have. We tick one, maybe two of those boxes (not hard to guess which). However, it's all moot, we're owned and run by complete morons.
  5. oh 100%, it feels like a million to one shot that they'll act on this huge chance they've been given.
  6. Pleased for Wharton, it was only a few months ago that it was suggested on here he shouldn't be playing as he stays up too late playing mario kart. £22m would be hard to turn down, the reality is, we would have taken that pre-Venkys, and regardless of the league we're in (see Duff, Santa Cruz, Jones, Shearer even...everyone has a price). The main thing for me is that this needs a minimum 20% sell on clause otherwise it should have been a non-starter. Palace is clearly the stepping stone. We now have £30m in the bank from Wharton, Raya sell-on and likely Gallagher, as well as high wages saved on Gallagher and Travis. It's now or never if Venkys really want to back the best manager they've had since taking over. Feels like we're suddenly on the board for the #1 pick in the NFL with a huge cap space. Golden chance for a re-build EDIT: lets also hope he relegates Burnley this year.
  7. Do we get the Raya money this month? That's around £5m isn't it? Of which, 100% should go straight into the transfer pot, with the addition of any cup money. A well run club would have £6m-£7m to spend over these days before we even talk about any Wharton or Gallagher cash. Over to you Venkys
  8. Didn’t someone say he had the highest pass completion % on the pitch? Agree with most though that he didn’t stand out last night.
  9. So we’ve put a few extra million in the pot for Rovers that we wouldn’t have seen for years prior - should just be bonus money straight into transfer/wage kitty.
  10. Does anyone know how much money we’ve generated from the cup runs over the last two seasons from both prize money and TV money? QF and 4th Round last year and 5th Round (still to go) and 4th Round this year (it’ll be 4 premier league teams played with Newcastle) That money alone should be given to JDT for Januarys budget given the guff Mowbray served us in the cup for years.
  11. Szmodics as always stepping up and dragging the others with him. Gallagher also playing very well in my opinion, and Dolan involved in a lot It was a Garrett error and a bit sloppy from Pears on occasion otherwise we’ve pretty much controlled it. A bit slow and weak to start but responded well to the goal (with thanks to their keeper) Siggy and Moran quiet.
  12. Enjoying the “great feet for a big man” clichés about Gallagher
  13. Whatever about Pears and Leo - they have a comedy lad themselves in net
  14. It was his fault in the first place, the first save was absolutely shocking palming into the centre of the 6 yard box.
  15. That first save from Pears lol…..he is so so bad, yet still somehow our best option
  16. Players treating it like a training match, so pedestrian. Shocking stuff from Garrett
  17. I thought that looked strange too - is it the Jacks Kitchen section? Might have not opened that, which would be a stupid decision. Waggott will be rubbing his hands together at what looks like a decent attendance and the chance of 7k Geordies next if we win
  18. Their wage bill is probably pretty well controlled too, considering they were league 1 last year and looking at their squad. Certainly punching well above their weight this season, and will have a decent cushion for FFP to spend and take that promotion gamble this year for sure.
  19. Another payday for Waggot if we win tomorrow. But it’ll be the end of our cup run (and season), if it isn’t tomorrow.
  20. If (big If), Venky's actually wanted to sell us, I'd be amazed if they didn't cash in on £20m for Wharton first. Having him as a Rover is unlikely to increase bids by the same amount. Didn't Venky's buy us for about £25m then sell Jones for £16m within the year (maybe this just highlights what mugs the Walker Trust were)
  21. A normal club, would probably think £20m + sell on % allows us to reinvest £15m into a Championship squad and still have some left over for the finance lads as well as the sell-on fall back. Not bad for an academy lad (thanks Jack) We, obviously, will throw JDT a few pieces of shrapnel, and the rest will go into the usual Venky's black hole. Our issue with reinvesting all that money is what it does to the wage bill, having said that, we seem to be cutting that constantly yet our losses don't improve so god knows.
  22. Whilst I agree about the borough thing and the shocking input outside of BwD (I speak first hand from Chorley originally), I do think it’s a positive to have this scheme running….i believe it’s more Yasir Sufi than it is Waggot mind you. Reading some of the comments on social media are depressing “why carnt we av buzzes running from are local church too?” Some of these lads just need to grow up, such a backwards bunch. Good work by those setting up - would be nice if they actively approached schools with the offer (not sure if they do?), I remember getting tickets through my school in Chorley early doors.
  23. Likewise, i've been a member for 3 years and haven't received a single piece of communication on anything (newsletters, meeting notes etc.)
  24. I’m starting to think it was Andy on this messageboard
