2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

Clearly not even close to anybody new, otherwise we’d have lined it up to the kit announcement. -
150th Anniversary kit/celebrations
superniko replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The relation is “it’s green”. Had the opportunity to do so much more. It’s a smart shirt but absolutely nothing unique to our 150th anniversary. It’s just a green away kit - oh with a white badge too. - unique badge, unique sponsor, gold trim, something unique to the Blackburn area in the background, legend player names in the background, trophy cabinet / success years in the background All simple things that would elevate a 150th kit to be different to the usual 2nd/3rd strip and it looks like none were done -

I should kept my mouth shut, absolutely nothing unique about that shirt at all - it’s just another usual away/3rd kit. Do we have anybody in a position who actually knows what they’re doing at this club? -

I actually think this could be a beauty - I hope they don’t mess it up. The bee crest with gold trim on the kit. I still would have preferred our season home kit to be the anniversary kit - but I guess it’s all about making money now and selling multiple kits -
Brentford and Matthew Benham don’t often get things wrong but this certainly feels like a strange one. I’d be surprised if they don’t regress now.

It's a fair argument....February is short, seems to go quickly (albeit depressing as it's when we usually have a death spiral), January perhaps, but there's all that 'new year new me' optimism, everyone's in the same boat. November is just crap though, clocks have changed, it's starting to get dark, it rains every day, the dread of months of cold, wet, dark days ahead. It has a rubbish International break in the middle of it too.
-
It all feels a bit 'meh' with no Dingles, Bolton, even Wigan and Blackpool. PNE away in the middle of the most depressing month of the year. Two midlands clubs at Easter, Yorkshire and Humber over Christmas. They could be worse trips, but it's still just a bit shit.

I've found the bit where we're on the edge of the playoffs and then implode in February / March across a load of winnable fixtures after not spending anything in January.

Venky’s v Indian Government (a)
superniko replied to tomphil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ah that was in the back of my mind but 1) forgot it was 4 years back then and 2) it’s such a small difference in the grand scheme of parachute payments now. These muppets really did relegate us at the worst possible time -
Venky’s v Indian Government (a)

Found this one baffling….how are we bringing in less broadcasting revenue now compared to 2015 and 2016? There is a ridiculous amount of matches televised these days and we appear to be none the better for it. -
Absolute madness, have they even watched him play? Probably goes for more than Wharton with the ability of his little toe. Fair play to him though, he should ride that high while he can and get to Dortmund.
-
If you say so, but to me Davies, Cannon, Moore, Diaz, Campbell etc are nothing but mid-table championship standard but probably all picking up £50k+ Hamer the standout man for them, but he’s surrounded by overpaid shite - their wage bill will be ridiculous
-
They had a deduction this season, and I don’t think they’ve sorted their finances since - gambled on another promotion so expect a big regression there, especially given next season is their final parachute payment year as they only get 2. Sunderland would have spend more, given their likely sale of Bellingham.
-
I’d love to see their wage bill - so much highly paid dross there. A few troublesome years coming there way now
-
Surely we all want Sunderland to win this - Sheffield United have cheated their way through their finances for a few years now - resulting in them signing Anel A ahead of us despite the fact they couldn’t actually pay for him. About time that all caught up with them

Blackburn Rovers Women
superniko replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The two are mutually exclusive. Any investment in the women’s team has no affect on the men’s team or ffp. Its just another prime example of how our owners don’t give a shit about the club, town, or the sport itself. It shouldn’t matter if 1 man and a dog attends or if we have 30k there - we have billionaire owners who should be supporting the women’s game. It probably costs less to run that team a year than Waggotts £600k+ salary and pension I think I’m done with the club this offseason until we see change. Not because of this, but I’m just tired of how long it’s going on. Summed up with this Indian court case (where it seems Waggot has lied to us about - shock) -

But but but ‘they never refuse a cheque’ and ‘who else would pump £20m a year into us’ or something or other. Good write up 👍 -
They are running as bad a commercial operation down there as we’ve seen since the days of Blockbuster or Kodak. The thing that always grates on me is that ticket revenue is still a relatively small piece of the overall, so taking that gamble to get 20k at £150 or whatever example you want - if it fails, the drop off is almost negligible They just don’t care though so it is to be expected. Ewood is dirty, dated, slow, and half full.

Leicester, Southampton, Ipswich, 3 x Playoff teams, Boro, Birmingham, Norwich should all be wanting to compete at the top. We're probably in the next bracket with Watford, West Brom, Derby if they get their act together, and hilariously Wrexham. So based on that 10th - 15th. Brittain, Batth, Hyam, Carter, Travis, Tronstad, Cantwell, Ohashi - these are all mid-table / top-half Championship players. We shouldn't be in a relegation scrap unless their is mis-management from either the manager, board, or both, and we NEED to add a goalscorer / striker. We have better starters than PNE, Oxford, Pompey, Stoke, Millwall, QPR, Swansea, Wednesday etc. Recruit well (lol) then we should be performing similar to this season. I just can't see it happening and see us falling to lower mid-table.
-
5 players needed for me, 7 ideally. A whole new front line of starters, with Ohashi in with them. (assuming Dolan is off) A better back-up for Tronstad than Forshaw, who can rotate with Travis/Tronstad for injuries, suspensions, tactically. RB back-up for Brittain, not sure if we have anyone coming through the ranks. need RW starter need LW starter need ST starter need RB backup need DM backup ideally RW backup ideally AM backup Most importantly, we need to use the loan market efficiently this year like we have in years past. Last year was not good enough with Dennis, Cozier-Duberry, Sanderson and Woodrow all miles off it. Beck was good and Baker was the exact solid rotation player we should be looking for, but obviously left in January.
-
Agree with most of that. I'd probably not be starting Wharton though. Batth and Hyam would be my pairing given how they've played together this season. Ohashi also warrants a starting place, he could also be back-up for Cantwell potentially, though I prefer him on the defenders shoulder. A good chance we see a different formation from Ismael, but it almost feels the same as it has for a few seasons....a decent spine and starting 11, but then a huge drop-off once we pick up injuries / suspensions, and for about the 5th season in a row we need to strengthen the attack / wingers.

Certainly seem to be anti-Eustace rather than anti-Venkys/Pasha/Waggot/Gestede (last two downvotes below)

v Sheffield United (a) - 3/5/2025

Yes - comms kept saying 7 changes but it was last week that they rested lots of players. Hamer and Anel were two of the changes coming back in - not like it was 7 reserve players -

Amen - Thank you for your support all season - here is a ST price increase and zero investment into the squad which saw the manager leave and season collapse
