Unfortunately the same thing happened with JDT, start the season pretty well, build up hope in the fan base, pushing into the top 6.....Then Venkys and Waggot do everything they possibly can to screw us over in January and we're left with a depleted squad, which after a few injuries means we're relying on Garrett, Markanday and Vale (who started the majority of games during the Jan 2023 window)! The depth of the squad is horrific, Pickering, Travis, Ohashi, Carter, Wharton are injured and we're scrambling away trying to pick an 11 that can be remotely competitive.

Toth Brittain - McFaz - Hyam - Beck JRC - Buckley ACD - Weimann - Hedges Leonard Couple of changes for me given the vast amount of winnable league games in January and the clear lack of interest for Venkys to fund our squad. Batth and Tronstad both to be rested, Leonard to get 90 minutes in him. No other options for full back really.

Morton is an upgrade on Buckley (and Baker). If there are any legs to it then it needs to be done asap given our current lack of depth in CM I'm still not fully over him rolling around after the eye poke at Sheffield United though. Also doesn't address our biggest need of 'sticking the ball in the net'

Just noticed we play on the 31st evening vs PNE. Wasn’t it the last day of the window we had a night match when we fucked up the January window a year or so ago. Everyone in charge went for a jolly up in the away ground directors box - must have been the year before they all ordered a curry and cocked it up.

If they go up, it’ll be at Wembley. They’re not pipping Leeds or Sheff Utd to the top 2. Burnley are well organised with a very good £10m centre back and a lower-prem centre midfield pairing but offer very little upfront (not too dissimilar to ourselves) Sadly agree we’ll be watching from mid-table though.

Don’t think we need to do any parking really - they’re not the most potent of teams, just pointless passing possession across the back line. They’ve scored 2 more than us all season and fewer than every other top 10 side, and I doubt anyone would talk about parking a bus for us. It’s breaking Burnley down that’s tricky (because of their pointless possession at the back) - hopefully a high intensity helps us.

Hyam is out of contract at the end of this season - at 29 will be looking for a payday. Hedges and Weimann the other two - squad players so only if it’s a cheap deal. Danny Batth at 34 we should probably sign up for 12 more months the way he is playing. The big ones for me are the 2026 group. Travis and Trondstad and lesser extent Brittain. We should be extending all 3 of them asap

He’s barely played all season, on the back of a long term injury. When he did, he stuck it in the net in a very ‘Jordan Rhodes’ position. I’m all for judging the lad, but Leeds away coming off the bench hardly seems like the fairest in isolation.
