  1. I pretty much said all that in the original post. I’m not talking about spending all that in January as I was replying to the ‘loan now buy later’ policy. Regardless, we’re getting £23m over the next few windows plus a potential £4m eventually. Besides, surely anyone we buy runs off the same principle of ‘instalments’ so the point is moot. We need to be spending over 50% of that if we have any ambition of promotion - isn’t that meant to be ‘the model‘?
  2. Ah yeah sorry this wasn’t specific to January - was around the ‘loan now with a view to buy in Summer’ so essentially over the two windows. Making £12m profit on player sales and wages being relatively flat versus past championship years when you consider outgoings - FFP shouldn’t be an issue. If it is we’re not going to put £25m+ of transfer funds into our pot ever 3 years are we so we might as well close up shop now
  3. What do you mean, we can get a good 11 years out of him from 26 😄
  4. £22m Wharton + £5m Raya sell on - appreciate nobody knows all the details of when the Wharton money will arrive but we’ve got £27m coming in before we even sell Dolan or Gallagher over the next few windows
  5. All this loan now with buy in the summer stinks of spending the £5m from Raya we’re getting in the summer while the Wharton cash goes straight into the black hole. Let’s be honest, we should be spending £15m of that £27m at least across various positions.
  6. If it plays out that we spend none / a fraction of the Wharton fee (not to mention Raya fee), and even that doesn't open the eyes of the social media sad acts then god help us all. Nothing will stop them licking the boots of our moronic overlords
  7. Also given the fact there was a flight from Cancun landed at 8am and the players Mum is liking all Rovers content on social media, it's decent odds on that he landed in Manchester and any one of us could be that "ITK". The bloke is a Nixon parody.
  8. Yeah and I agree with that 2nd part, but you hardly want your highest / 2nd highest earner to be that guy
  9. On the other end of the spectrum - why would we want to keep a top earner if JDT doesn’t think he’s good enough to start?
  10. McGuires mum liking multiple Rovers posts, including random fans. He’s coming to us surely otherwise that’s a bit weird. Flight from Cancun landed in Manchester this morning - odds on he was on it.
  11. He’s 19 - we’ve had Venkys for 13(?) years now. He knows no different than the shambles we are.
  12. It’s likely. But he’ll get 6 months with them, then they either stay or Palace have £100m to buy some more juice to play around him. Add the £50k(?) a week or whatever the going rate is these days and it’s a cracking move for him. Just a shame as there is no reason Rovers shouldn’t be in the capable position that Palace are in now.
  13. Looking like we’ll have Burnley, PNE and Bolton next season. Waggot will be chuffed, Lancs police less so.
  14. That Palace team has some serious talent, I can’t believe they still have Roy there - what an absolute waste. Wharton should be relishing being the creator for the likes of Olise, Eze and Edouard.
  15. Yes a good shout and I should have added that too 👍
  16. Would be an improvement on Ennis and Telalovic from Gregg.
  17. Broughton has done an okay job. Nothing amazing, and not a disaster which are the extremes often discussed on here. Very similar to almost every other club in Football. Szmodics - obviously a big yes please Trondstad - almost all of us agree we like the look of him Hyam - has some limitations, but a solid enough championship defender for sure, would look good with a big presence next to him Brittain, Moran, Hill, Sigurdsson, Morton, Thomas - nothing amazing but none are shocking, would all make our squad, Moran should step up to the level above in time, Sigurdsson looking good on paper but needs to deliver more. Wahlstedt, Ennis, Mola, Telalovic, Hirst - The worst of his bunch, the worrying part is 3 of them are strikers. They are barrel scrappers though with no budget. Chrisene, Ayari - No idea yet It's just a mixed bag, nobody can argue with that. He's had his hands tied, and I think the only big negative on him is his failure to bring in a striker (and the O'Brien stuff though I'm sure multiple people are to blame there). Other than that it's fairly as expected. He's also not scared to move out players on bigger wages who aren't at a promotion standard like Buckley and Travis (yes people will say he's moved to 2nd place in the league but he is not a Top 6 player and his lack of appearances now will confirm this in due course) and then moving on the younger lads who are miles off it like Markanday, Butterworth and Vale on loans. We're not in the days of Mowbray extending Elliott Bennetts contract and playing him full back because he's one of the lads.
  18. Agree there is a bit of recency bias at play there. Adam does have a higher ceiling though, but as you say, he has to go and do it (something Dunny didn't, but Duff arguably did)
  19. On the contrary, Liverpool with Torres / Suarez sales, Brighton with *insert player they made profit on* sales etc...There are cases on both sides, it all comes down to the set-up, scouts, recruitment team, manager and owners you have. We tick one, maybe two of those boxes (not hard to guess which). However, it's all moot, we're owned and run by complete morons.
  20. oh 100%, it feels like a million to one shot that they'll act on this huge chance they've been given.
  21. Pleased for Wharton, it was only a few months ago that it was suggested on here he shouldn't be playing as he stays up too late playing mario kart. £22m would be hard to turn down, the reality is, we would have taken that pre-Venkys, and regardless of the league we're in (see Duff, Santa Cruz, Jones, Shearer even...everyone has a price). The main thing for me is that this needs a minimum 20% sell on clause otherwise it should have been a non-starter. Palace is clearly the stepping stone. We now have £30m in the bank from Wharton, Raya sell-on and likely Gallagher, as well as high wages saved on Gallagher and Travis. It's now or never if Venkys really want to back the best manager they've had since taking over. Feels like we're suddenly on the board for the #1 pick in the NFL with a huge cap space. Golden chance for a re-build EDIT: lets also hope he relegates Burnley this year.
  22. Do we get the Raya money this month? That's around £5m isn't it? Of which, 100% should go straight into the transfer pot, with the addition of any cup money. A well run club would have £6m-£7m to spend over these days before we even talk about any Wharton or Gallagher cash. Over to you Venkys
  23. Didn’t someone say he had the highest pass completion % on the pitch? Agree with most though that he didn’t stand out last night.
  24. So we’ve put a few extra million in the pot for Rovers that we wouldn’t have seen for years prior - should just be bonus money straight into transfer/wage kitty.
