I felt that the subs changed the game in the Spain and Germany match. Both strikers scoring and the young Spanish left back that replaced Alba, the goal came down his side. (Not saying it was all his fault, but it looked like Musiala got the wrong side of him and the German sub striker was able to wriggle away into space…)

That England game Friday was absolutely awful. Southgate must be the only person in the country that things Mount is better than Foden, or that the latter wouldn’t have made a huge difference by coming on. This isn’t about an over reaction, entitlement or expectation, but it’s about knowing we could have done better and we didn’t. You always regret the chances you don’t take and all that. Southgate held us back on Friday and it’s seeped into the mentality of the players. Maguire said post game ‘if you don’t play well, you need to make sure you don’t lose’. Good grief, we’ve better players on the bench than on the pitch and everyone can see it, why aren’t we using them? Henderson getting on first was an absolute joke too. I heard a description of Southgate yesterday as someone that drives a Fiat 500, being given the keys to a Ferrari and I felt it was fitting. (I’m sure someone will be along to say Southgate isn’t holding us back as he had delivered a semi final and a final in the last two tournaments. But, if you watched the final last year and didn’t think Southgate held us back in that match, I cant help you).

I had no issue at all with Wales until that video emerged of their players cheering England getting knocked out. After that, no time for them.

Tell you what, if the players don’t want to shove Nathan Tella’s 3-0 motion up his backside, or get back at Ashley Barnes for being a complete shithouse and bullying us, they need to find another club. Absolutely imperative that in the reverse fixture every last one of our boys put their big boy pants on, grow a pair of bollocks and put some pride back into this club. They didn’t show any yesterday and a lot of us have had yesterday’s result rammed down our throats and I’m sick of it. I’m still angry at just how pathetic we were yesterday.

If he understood the club, he’d have ensured the players showed some heart, fight and desire yesterday. He didn’t though, instead, we played like it was just another game. Unacceptable.

Whilst I would say that I am mostly happy with JDT and that we are third overall, there have been some alarm bells and this isn’t just about yesterday’s no show. We over play it at the back when it doesn’t suit the players in the squad. When we go a goal down, we might as well go home, as we aren’t getting back into the game. When we are bad, we are absolutely woeful and show none of the basics, like heart, fight and desire. I don’t expect us to win every game, but I do expect us to compete and it seems like sometimes we don’t even do that, which is a massive concern. Some team selections and omissions are absolutely baffling at times. I don’t think this is about over or under reactions, but more what I’ve observed so far under JDT’s stewardship.

Why, when we lose, do we look so spineless and like we aren’t trying?

I think the thing that annoyed me the most about yesterday was how it seemed to be treated as just any other game. No heart, no fight and no desire from us whatsoever. I’m so angry about that still.
