  1. Even if Rovers lose, it would be some feat if Plymouth and Brum both won and Owls avoided defeat especially as these are teams currently below us in the league in 20th, 21st and 22nd positions. I can't see it happening. However, football does spring surprises and never more so in the desperation stakes of the last game of the season. I have harboured a nightmarish thought for some time that we would find ourselves in the bottom three for the first time on the last day of the season and get relegated, again, on goal difference. To make matters worse, my missus who has something of a sixth sense has got something special in for tomorrow night's dinner including a fine red and uncannily this seems to happen when she senses my spirits need a lift! As the great Dave Allen used to say when signing off "may your God go with you."
  2. Think it just underlines the lack of nous and commercial/business awareness at Ewood. If we had been trying to prise a manager away from another club then obviously a contract of some length would have been necessary, however, Eustace had been out of work for 4 months or so and did not seem to have suitors knocking down his door. I would have given him a contract to the end of season with a season end review based upon performance results wise and also the other boxes a competent manager/coach needs to tick. Does anyone seriously think Eustace would have turned that down? Notwithstanding all that, I wouldn't have appointed Eustace in the first place - IMO, he had little managerial 'pedigree' to replace JDT and any benefit of the doubt about his suitability would have quickly been negated by a face to face interview which would have quickly revealed his limitations.
  3. Would we have seen him if we had been losing!? I very much doubt it.
  4. Agree with all the stuff about Eustace - IMO, way out of his depth, unintelligent and just a cliche / platitude ridden bullsh1tter. Worse Rovers managers who readily come to my mind include Iley, Ince, Kean, Berg and Coyle and Eustace, IMO, is as bad as any of them, if not worse. No matter what league we are in next season, I think it will be a disaster if he remains in charge. Never mind all the crap about giving him opportunity to shape the squad, he's already shown his limitations and I think his record is absolute dire with Rovers and speaks for itself. When he became our manager we were in 17th place, 7 points above 22nd place, now we are 19th and just 3 points above 22nd place and in danger of falling through the trap door tomorrow. Eustace has 2 wins to his name and hasn't even averaged 1 point per game - it's totally indefensible.
  5. FFS, stop trying to grasp at straws - think everyone but you, INCLUDING ROVERS, recognises Eusless WAS NOT in charge for the Stoke game. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/09/eustace-appointed-rovers-head-coach/ Rovers’ first team coaches David Lowe and Damien Johnson will take charge of tomorrow’s home game against Stoke City, with new Head Coach John Eustace in close attendance. He has won 2 league games - simple as, full stop.
  6. I think Travis would be very disillusioned if he comes back. Useless to Rovers like that so think it would be a case of getting best price they can for him. A decent Championship player who knows his way around - there will be takers.
  7. Delighted for Ipswich. McKenna has done a fantastic job. Talks commonsense and is so calm and collected even in 'the heat of battle'. IMO, a stark, stark contrast to Eusless in every facet of football coaching and management. They are so positive and go for it until the very last second May well struggle next season but would rather be in their shoes than ours. Shows what good owners, good senior management and good football managers can achieve. Sadly for Travis, I don’t think there will be a place at Ipswich for him next season and very much doubt he'll want to stay at IMO, the chaotic and shambolic Rovers after seeing what a good Championship club is all about.
  8. I've asked @chaddyroverstwice if he was a billionaire and he bought Rovers would he keep Waggott, Broughton and Eustace in post. As he hasn't responded, which is quite unusual, I can only assume he would. Scary!
  9. @chaddyrovers you are never backward about coming forward with suggestions about new signings. I asked you a simple question and still awaiting your thoughts.
  10. If only we could be in top 6 following a home draw!!! Think I'd be opening a nice red.
  11. Question for @chaddyrovers. If you were a billionaire and bought the Rovers, would you keep Waggott, Broughton and Eustace in post?
  12. IMO, there is no one at Rovers with a feckin clue about valuations or how to manage these situations. Wharton out the door for an absurdly relatively low price. Feck me, Bristol City got £25million for Alex Scott who will never ever be the player Wharton is now or will become. It was clear from a very early stage (remember the game at Blackpool) that Wharton was a very special talent. Folk running Rovers are the same who fecked up badly on Lenihan, Rothwell and BBD who went for the square root of feck all. It all makes my blood boil. Think it's certain Sammie will leave irrespective of any posturing from Rovers or fanciful Nixon numbers. If he wants out then he will go - he's now at his peak footballing wise and earnings' potential wise and I think it would be madness for him to stay here. Wake up Chaddy and smell the coffee because I think recent history has shown the summer window will be as shambolic, or even more shambolic, than recent windows. Reading your 'wish list' for signings is like reading my grandchildren's letters to Father Christmas. Get real.
  13. Think it's so galling when you look at the players we have recently lost for either nothing or for not their true worth. All gone for nowt BBD, Rothwell and Lenihan - close on £20million with 'clued-up' management. Palace really pulled our pants down over Wharton. Months and months ago, I posted we should get at least what Brum got from Dortmund for Bellingham (£25million plus add ons) and that was 4 years ago. Also, still far from convinced we managed Phillips' contractual situation optimally. As for Broughton's signings, think only Sammie has hit the mark. Disasters include Mola, Hirst (at least for us), Wahlstedt, Ennis, Telalovic and Fleck. Those who have made little or no impact Morton, Thomas, Moran, Ayari, Koumetio and O'Riordan (we have the 3rd worse defensive record in the league having conceded 74 goals and the lad can't even get a look in - wtf is that about?!) Average signings Hyam and Brittain (think both have shown their true colours this season and in my book not the characters you want to build your team around), Sigurdsson (flatters to deceive), Tronstad (a steady Eddie but better than Travis?) and McFadzean (the barrel was empty). Whether we have money to spend in the summer or not, I really worry about the capabilities of Broughton and our recruitment team - IMO, their record is pretty dismal.
  14. Stay up or go down, for me, Eustace has to go. Simply don't think he's up to it. Young and upcoming - no, the guy's in his mid forties with a track record of 3 years at Kidderminster, caretaker spell at QPR and a brief spell at Brum until it seems the owners concluded he wasn't the man to deliver their ambitions. So, in my book, Eustace has achieved very little as a manager, is relatively inexperienced and has certainly not been 'in demand' and for that there would have to be reasons why. I think his league record with Rovers is very, very poor and we go into our last game still with a real risk of relegation and hoping and praying results go our way in other games. To average less than a point a game over the course of a season will get you relegated. What a state of affairs. Eustace's record P15 W2 D8 L5 F13 (5 of which came in 1 game) A18 P14 Eustace's home record P7 W0 D5 L2 F4 A7 P5 At home, we have failed to score in 3 out of our 7 games (and 4 games out of 8 away) and his home record includes games against teams of the ilk of Owls, Plymouth, QPR and Millwall - just one win against any of those teams and we would now be safe. Think his game management yesterday when a fatigued Coventry went down to 10 men for 40 minutes (including added time) was negative, unimaginative and potentially catastrophic with our failure to get a win. IMO, he's a 'yes man' (unlike JDT) who causes no ripples in the boardroom, is weak and therefore a player's dream, is negative and also tactically inept. I also find his interviews cringeworthy, IMO, full of cliches, platitudes and bullsh1t. Sadly, no matter what league we are in next season, I think Eustace will remain in charge. If we are fortunate enough to stay up then I think relegation will be nailed on with Eustace, if we go down, think we will be no better than mid table in League 1. As one of the Apollo 13 astronauts said 'Houston, 'we have a problem'.
  15. Really, really, really? Think his record with Rovers is dire. This is a manager who has failed to win a single home game in the league including games against QPR, Plymouth, Millwall and the Owls. IMO, a weak, negative and cliche ridden bullshitter.
  16. No Rovers never do things the easy way. But feck me, comparing IMO, this complete shower of shite and an utterly Eusless Head coach with a PL winning team and a manager like King Kenny is one feck of a long, long, long stretch.
  17. Comes down to who will have both the bottle and the desire. I am less optimistic than most of the postings on here post match. My thoughts: Brum - they'll kick Norwich off the park to get a result, Brum win Plymouth - who gave them a chance against Leicester? Hull might have nowt to play for and even if they do, fancy Argyle to get their win Owls - they've shown they have plenty of bottle and desire, can't see then failing to get a point at Sunderland who we hammered 5-1 not too long ago Rovers - Leicester will want to put on a show, think we will be lucky to lose by no more than 3 goals My huge fear is we hit the bottom three on goal difference for the first time on the last day of the season when it will be all too late to do anything about it. Sad, depressing and all too worrying times.
  18. Eusless is unworthy of an army. If we lose today, he and the team should be absolutely pilloried by the fans.
  19. Fixed it for you. Whether we stay up or go down, one really fears for our prospects. The prospect of real and meaningful investment is one for the fairies I think. IMO, it's very likely we will be in administration come 31 August.
  20. Must be a shocking injury - hope he makes a good recovery that enables to get back to where he was. Also, note Rovers advertising for a First Team physio so looks like O'Keefe is leaving (pushed or jumped?).
  21. There is no doubt that Coventry's defeat last night is going to help us. Their players must be mentally and physically exhausted. They will have the backing of 4k+ fans and Robins is a hard task master who will demand 100% effort. However, despite despite the shortcomings of both our manager and players there is no way do I see a Coventry win which will give us either the 1 or 3 points to put us safe. So confident am I in this, I have lumped on against the Coventry win at 5/2 on one of the betting exchanges. Roll on the balmy days of summer.
  22. Sadly, Ewood Park has never been renowned as having a hostile atmosphere which is often worth a goal start. Highbury was once nicknamed The Library' because it was so quiet. In the main, Rovers fans are a docile lot at Ewood Park, too little passion and too many happy clappers.
  23. Saw somewhere they've already sold 4,000 tickets which is bad news for Rovers as Mark Robins (he's that kind of guy who wont want to let their fans down) will ensure his side are 'at it' irrespective of whether they have a play-off chance or not.
  24. Any professional footballer, including goalkeepers, should be capable of cleanly striking through the back pass Hyam provided. Pears was not expected to control the ball, take it around any approaching SW player and then produce a defence splitting ball which would create an opportunity for Rovers. All he had to do was launch the feckin ball to an area of safety. It was simply a huge error made even worse by his lamentable efforts to rectify it before the ball entered the net. As for the first goal, being so far out of his goal, he should quite simply have played safe and found touch as clearly Hyam would be under pressure. The bottom line is Pears is a very poor all round goalie with so many flaws in his game it's untrue. Many of us have been saying this since Mowbray brought, metaphorically speaking, one of his 'favourite sons' to the club. Pears has cost us both countless goals and points and should be jettisoned from our club as soon as possible. Sadly, he may have caused our club irretrievable damage.
