Nyambe has his flaws but the one thing you can never accuse him of is a lack of effort. The lad busts a gut up and down the flank throughout every match.

Nyambe has all the attributes to develop into a PL full back.

He needs a consistent run of games to speed up his development.

Some of the stuff Mowbray comes out with, IMO, can't do the lad's confidence much good and neither can the regular selection of Bennett over him.

With a quality manager and or coach to help him, he could become top class - Kenny and Ray Harford would have made him a real player.

I fear we will lose him and just like Raya, he will excel at his new club.

To be fair Mercer you’ve been saying this since the day you joined.

Look, I've thought for some time Venky's would look to 'get out'.

    For some reason, they haven't.

However, I think circumstances have changed.  They are some 10 years into their very expensive 'project' (almost £200million gone in with the likelihood of no return) and it must be difficult for them to see any sort of progress whatsoever in getting back to those halycon days when they bought a top 10 PL club - our regression has been staggering!  It would seem their business in India has also been hit hard with the pandemic.  In business, including football, a 'tipping point' is always reached.  In football we've seen this with Hayward at Wolves, Davies at Bolton and Whelan with Wigan.

I don't think the 'mood music' is good and it's getting louder.

Im worried about Venkys position and continued support. By all accounts the pandemic has hit them hard.

    You are not alone!!!

Things just don't feel right (relative to how Venky's have been since buying Rovers) at the moment.

Not scaremongering but in some 60 years of supporting the club, never, ever felt we are so vulnerable to insolvency and the abyss.  In business, there is always a 'tipping point'.

Noticed the local radio station and local paper have been banned from Hull FC ..

At least they asked awkward questions on behalf of the locals ... Bravo ? to them

over to you Mr Bays & Company ...

Andy Bayes has been at Radio Lancashire for what must be going on for 15 years.  I think it is his 'natural level'.

I think he lacks the bottle to ask the cutting questions and makes life too easy for the interviewee.  IMO, and partly based upon what I've seen of him at various events, too pally, pally with the 'sporting celebrities' and simply fawns over them.

The lack of accountability from local journalists is a massive bug bear for me as well.

IMO, the LT and Radio Lancashire have for a long, long time been way below par.

Folk of my age group might well remember David Allin who succeeded Alf Thornton.  Hell, that was one culture change.  Allin called a spade a feckin spade and the fans and readers loved his razor sharp insights and comments.  Sadly, Allin didn't last too long as he caused ructions at Ewood and he was replaced by the more pragmatic Peter White from the Blackburn Times.

As for Neil Yardley's commentaries, is he for real?  IMO, a cringeworthy joke.

  6. I think very few will care about this game other than Mowbray.

Mowbray will, IMO, field a team that will all be about self preservation.

Sadly, I think Rovers will win their last two games to paper over the cracks and allow Mowbray to bang on about a season of progress and what would have been without the injury to Dack

I'll take two humiliations in our last two games if it secures the departure of Mowbray.

It's quite simple to me. Nyambe seems to be a quiet, humble lad who won't cause a fuss when he is dropped in favour of Elliot Bennett-Mowbray.

It's another example for me of Mowbray picking the low hanging fruit.

I have never been taken in by the talk that Mowbray is a decent chap, a man of integrity, etc.  IMO, he isn't.  What he said in Blues Bar last February and IMO hugely failed to deliver upon, merely concreted my suspicions.  Also, I think he has hung out to dry too many of our younger players - easy targets / 'low hanging fruit'.

The Nyambe stuff, IMO, is parallel to the Raya nonsense and we know where that ended up and what it has cost us.

And just what has Mowbray done for the confidence of the likes of Brereton and Gallagher?  Whatever flickering ability these two lads have has, IMO, been extinguished by Mowbray's gross mismanagement of them - even Coyle got much more out of Gallagher.

I really struggle to see just what Mowbray offers - I think it's clear he offers precious little in terms of man management skills.

1st half was very poor from us. Far too slow in possession.

Samuel and Graham deserve to be sub off.

I thought Rankin Costello was our best player all game. He almost scored with the last kick of the game. He did very well against Wallace and Romeo considering he was yellow card in the 1st minute. He is going to be a good player for us next season.

Rothwell had an impact second half.

Armstrong should have scored in the second half with the chance he had from Gallagher

Do you really still think Mowbray is our man?

How bad do we need to get before you would sack him?

Nothing at all happened - apart from Birdy (not the one of club video fame) welcomed 'Harry the Dog' to Blackburn with a smack in the face and then a huge ruck ensued behind the Darwen End. They don't like it up them these southern softies ha ha

We must be about the same age mate.

    A 'character'!

Those of us around at those times no doubt can recall similar tales.

Remember one pre match when Birdy was back (think it was after he'd done a stretch) and he almost single handedly routed the 'Tigers' in the Darwen End - never seen folk shift so quick, was like a man possessed.  Pussycats these days.

    Very simple.

Norwich were happy to go down and take the dosh, and as they’ve not overextended, they’ll be back up the top end of the Championship next season. Fair enough, business wise a fairly sensible decision. And this approach seems to be working for Burnley.

But it’s all a bit sad. Kind of negates the romance of football, the joy of promotion, pitting yourself against the best . But that’s modern football.

    Football is a simple game.

IMO, a club needs to make three quality appointments:

    • CEO
    • Football manager
    • Chief scout

Get these appointments right and the rest will look after itself.

Sadly, we have Waggott, Mowbray and Stuart Harvey.  IMO, all three need binning - you judge on what they've achieved and I'm left scratching my head.  Again, IMO, almost three and a half wasted years - as a club, we haven't moved forward or progressed.

  11. IMO, a damning state of affairs:

    https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18580317.dont-assume-anything---mowbray-rovers-contract-plans/

I think Mowbray is paving the way - I would give you very, very short odds on his last two 'options' here:

“Whether we can do that because we have some budget to go and buy some players, or whether we need to create some budget by letting players go and using their salary levels, or whether we have to cut the budget and promote some young players.”

    You draw your own conclusions.

Like I said and others their owners aren't wealthy owners. Delia Smith and her family are worth around 25 million I seen. The club is now on sound financial footing. Webber and the board including Ed Balls(Former MP) wont put the club at risk again going bust as it was only days from happening before Maddison and Murphy were sold. You would know all this if you listen or even read the interview with the links Provided by myself.   My heart bleeds for the poor buggers!

Yes they have improved the club by investing in training ground facilities, improvements at that academy plus recruitment and scouting departments.

Farke knew it was going to tough task. And him and Webber weren't willing to risk spending millions on players given the club financial status 3 years ago. They could do a Burnley under Dyche as I have already said.

If we went up and I would expect to be relegation. anything else is a bonus.  Why both trying to get promoted then!?!

  13. Think 'tombola' Tony is going to be at it again:

    https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18579455.mowbray-hints-changes-ahead-rovers-trip-millwall/

These are young professional athletes and if they can't manage two games a week then I think it's a p1ss poor effort.

Leading tennis players will spend up to 20 hours s week on court in a highly competitive, physical and mental sport.  Tony seems to think 180 minutes a week is a bit much for some of our lads.

You play your most effective team - when you are winning, you don't feel the fatigue, the strains, the soreness etc.

Millwall to win by at least two clear goals as, sadly, I think tombola Tone will strike again.

Got to believe in yourself to make your own luck.

Even Bournemouth did last night until the kid at the end fluffed his chances to make it 6.

There is a phrase 'the harder you work, the luckier you get'.

Been attributed to many over the years with slightly different variants.  Think it can be traced back to Benjamin Franklin well over two centuries ago!

The core message is spot on.

You predict this every window although this window may have the closest of being right. Still scaremongering mind you.

    Not at all.

It's economics and the world has changed through coronavirus.

Venky's share price has fallen by something like 40% in six months.  Both the demand and price for poultry products have have been substantially affected in that part of the world.

Having tipped going on for £200million into Rovers and the necessity for frequent share issues to keep Rovers afloat, logic tells you there has to be a tipping point - you don't keep flogging a dead horse (it might be different if they could see Rovers making real progress and really challenging for the PL).

Add to all that FFP provisions and, IMO, it's a gloomy, gloomy picture.

I posted a few days ago that I think Rovers have never been as vulnerable to insolvency and financial collapse as they are now.

Very sadly, it's where I think the club now is.

  16. I think we will see a transfer window that we have rarely seen before with player sales and incomings restricted in the main to frees and loans.

I think Waggott and Mowbray will be tasked with raising a minimum of £10million through player trading and slashing the wage bill by £5million (including NI).

Next season, IMO, will be one tough challenge for survival.

Course it is. Second best side in the division. The "circumstances" are due to losing to Wigan and Barnsley, which are of course Poor results.

Wigan and Barnsley were poor results, however, you shouldn't look back in isolation at games where it didn't go to plan - all teams could do that and the net result would very likely be the status quo in terms of league position.

After 43 games, teams are generally where they deserve to be and, IMO, 12th place is both underwhelming and underperforming.
