  1. I know when Rovers signed Williams, Cryer seemed to find it incredulous as he was deemed to be third choice for his beloved Bristol City. How he once won our player of the year award......................................certainly didn't get my vote!
  2. If you prefer 'Coyle y', I can revert back....................................
  3. But would he want to come and sit on the bench for half season until Tony thought he was ready and understood Tony's way of playing?
  4. As I posted earlier, we are in real danger of being not much better off than when Mowbray replaced Owen. IMV, we don't seem mentally or physically up for it, tactics are a nonsense, players are used consistently out of position, recruitment is poor and the Brereton signing is absolutely mystifying and worrying. On top of that, I think our style of football is cr@p. To me, the players' body language last night got the alarm bells ringing - I very much doubt all is well in the camp. Mowbray should be very worried and he should be on the thinnest of thin ice.
  5. Hits a number of nails on the head. Trouble is Chaddy, you bury your head in the sand too much, hiding from stark reality just hoping it's all a bad dream.
  6. The way Dack is presently playing his value is falling by the game. This will be one tough game. I still don't think we are anywhere near as fit as a team as we were in the Hughes era. Too many of our lads don't look like they can be at it for 90 minutes (either physically or mentally). Our third game in a week following our mauling in the first two games doesn't augur well.
  7. Think your point about shelf life is spot on. I would not give Mowbray any more money. Think he's had more than enough (signings and improved contracts) and not used it wisely. The Brereton signing looks more absurd by the day and he should really be taken to task over this. He's either dropped a real clanger (so why trust the guy in the market anymore) or it wasn't his signing and, if that's the case, as a purported man of principle and honesty, he should walk away. We are in real danger now, especially in light of our next few games. of being exactly where we were when Mowbray walked through the door almost two years ago to replace Owen. Last night's display was as bad as anything I saw under either Kean or Owen. In a nutshell, it could therefore be said we've stagnated for the last two years. I
  8. I have said Mowbray got us back at first time of asking, job done - on several occasions - what more do you want me to say?
  9. Maybe Charlie is miffed that Mowbray didn't allow him to link up with Scotland in international week.
  10. Mowbray got us up at the first time of asking. If he hadn't, it would have been a huge failure. We were the best resourced club in a p i s s poor league - a league far less competitive than the old Third Division that Gordon Lee and Howard Kendall got us out of. There were a number of matches where we 'got away with it'. That wont happen in the Championship.
  11. Make no mistake, his value is plummeting by the match.
  12. We got away with it last season in a p i s s poor league. This season will be entirely different. We've rode our luck in several matches already this season. If thumping and embarrassing defeats against average Championship teams like PNE and wigan don't get the alarm bells ringing..................................
  13. Mowbray selects both the players who make the errors and the players who can't play better final balls. Mowbray is responsible for recruitment, training / coaching, motivation, tactics and selection. The buck stops firmly with him.
  14. Think all the money has gone on the Brereton deal......................................
  15. What looks like the £7million Brereton farce will linger for some time to come!
  16. Tonight was a total embarrassment. The alarm bells are well and truly ringing. Take responsibility Mowbray. Two midfielders as centre halves, two sitting midfielders out of their depth, a striker out wide left, a central midfielder out wide right – square pegs in round holes and Mowbray seems oblivious. We have so many gaping gaps and Joe Averages, the £7million Brereton farce looks more absurd by the match. Windass at £2million was far too hot for Rovers to handle. We could have been 4 or even 5 down at half time. Individually and collectively our defence was shambolic. You could have been excused for thinking either Kean or Owen were still in charge. No excuses, no dressing this up as a one-off bad day at the office (there are too many of those), the buck stops with Mowbray. I think I was generous in referring to him as a steady Eddie. I think we’ve seen poor motivation, poor tactics and poor recruitment from Mowbray. An absolute stinking night.
  17. I respect Coyle for his achievements at St Johnstone, Burnley and initially at Bolton and I said that in the post above - full stop. He has since bombed and I would not try to defend him, particularly his time at Rovers.
  18. Look, Coyle bombed at Rovers. Full stop. I would ask no one to respect his tenure as Rovers' manager. What is wrong is for folk like Chaddy to come on here and diss Coyle as a 'fool and an embarrassment'. The inescapable fact is that Coyle did well as a manager at St Johnstone, Burnley and when he first went to Bolton. Over the years, thousands have tried the football managerial game and failed. Coyle tried the football managerial game and achieved success in the earlier parts of his managerial career - I respect that. Across all walks of life, whether you like an individual or not, any fair minded person would respect the achievements of a fellow human being.
  19. Well firstly, Owen didn't take us down, Mowbray did. Owen bombed here but ultimately Mowbray should have kept us up - I think his negativity and tactics cost us precious points by turning winning positions into draws and draws into losses. I have been around longer than most (age) on this MB and this 'Burnley thing' is a joke. Yep, there should be healthy rivalry but there it should end. Two of my closest friends are Burnley fans and it matters not one iota to me - friends or football nonsense is no contest.
  20. Chaddy, we live in a democracy and we are all entitled to free speech. If the mere reference to Owen causes you so much grief and pain, it might be worthwhile seeing your GP.
  21. What on earth else can I call him other than by his name !?! Owen's initial managerial record was very good including a promotion to the PL - no joke and embarrassment there! After his first season at Bolton, he's bombed, we know that. As a manger, he as achieved far more than hundreds of others who have tried and failed. You should respect that.
  22. Sorry, it doesn't belittle the point. The point is that there are many, many players of 19 or less playing very successfully in Leagues 1 & 2, the Championship, the PL, Ligue 1, La Liga, Bundesliga, Champions League, World Cup etc. Some cost next to nothing, some cost big, big money. The simple fact is that they are good enough to be playing at those levels irrespective of their tender age and irrespective of how much they cost. We have signed a 19 year old for big money, by Rovers' standards, and by virtue of the fact he has yet to start a league game for Rovers, one can only assume he isn't good enough as Mowbray hasn't selected him. All this business about easing him in, letting him understand the way Mowbray wants Rovers to play is, IMV, utter cr@p. The last point is not there to provoke reaction. It's a simple fact that if Coyley had committed the club to a £7million deal and sat the player on the bench and not started him in a league game with the season's half way point in sight, he would have been absolutely, metaphorically, murdered. Any player we sign in a £7million, or £multi million deal, should be a game changer for Rovers taking us up several performance levels. Shearer was signed for that reason and we all know how he delivered. I am not comparing Brereton to Shearer but relatively, Brereton should be our game changer and not sat on a bloody bench.
  23. PSG bought Mbappe for £165millionish at 18 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think it's all codswallop about Brereton. His age is irrelevant. He's either good enough for Rovers or he's not. If he isn't good enough to go straight into our team then it was the height of madness to commit to a £multi million deal. If a player can't handle the fee whether it's £1, £10 or £100 million then they don't have the bottle and shouldn't be signed. If Coyle had pulled such a stunt, he would have been castigated and this MB would be in meltdown.
  24. So by that token, Mowbray would have done the same for say Messi or Ronaldo!?
  25. Chaddy, face up to it, we all drop clangers from time to time whether it's in our personal lives or our working lives. You should not be trying to defend Mowbray. Mowbray should have the balls to tell the fans just what the feck is going on with Brereton. Did he personally scout him, was it his decision to sign him, why commit to a £7million deal when we've gaping holes in our squad, why not play him. I think Mowbray's stance on this one is unfathomable. IMV, there is something not right here. I don't know your circumstances but if you went out and blew £20,000 on a car and there was no food in your house nor clothes on your kids' backs, your wife or partner would be fully entitled to play merry hell with you.
