  1. I think Burnley have some very good players at Championship level. Parker is not the idiot some on here make out - he's got 2 teams up from the Championship already. I think Burnley will secure an automatic promotion and providing we secure the other automatic spot, I wouldn't mind. I understand the Rovers / Burnley rivalry having lived through it and experienced it for 60+ years but Ì do think some fans on both sides go overboard. My two ongoing hopes - Rovers finish higher than Burnley in the league pyramid every year and when we do play them, at the very worse we draw.
  2. Optimism and confidence should be surging through the veins of players and fans after our league start and yesterday's outstanding resilient performance. A banker home win - the only question is by how many!
  3. Outstanding resilience!!!!!!! Also now we have a left back who can defend. Fantastic point. Well done Rovers.
  4. Fortunate still to be still in it. Weimann's stunner got us a foothold. Pears is a major, major worry. Dolan needs hooking. Travis needs to be careful, lucky Burnley lad stayed on his feet towards end of half otherwise a 2nd booking. Beck grown into it and my God he needed to after a shaky start.
  5. Disagree with your forecast. Have to be shooting for top 10 as a minimum.
  6. Credit to Gestede and Park for a job well done when operating with one hand tied behind their back! All these signings may not come off but at least they have shown some imagination and an ability to work outside the box in stark contrast to, IMO, the turgid efforts of Broughton. Who knows, given a fair share of luck, we may well surprise a few this season - there's always one team who 'comes from nowhere'. If Ipswich could then why not us!? At least a mood of foreboding has been lifted and we have some hope and optimism.
  7. Balls on the block and it's Rovers to win. At 3/1 just couldn't resist a punt. Think they are in turmoil and we will have a cohesiveness and togetherness they will not be able to match. All this despite Pears almost certainly being in goal. Fun bet at 80/1: Rovers' win, score 3-1, anytime goals Ohashi and Gueye. COYB
  8. Shite, shite, shite.................................
  9. He could have said 'we are hopeful that a couple are close' - would have given nothing away but at least gives ground for some hope and optimism. Nixon 'lost' on Dembele does raise question marks about the authenticity of his scribblings.
  10. Jackson quoting JE just 8 minutes ago. "There's nothing at the moment, the recruitment team are in discussions with a number of players and we'll have to see what happens,". "I don't believe anyone is having a medical, that I'm aware of. I think the most important thing is that we get the right players in". Worrying with just 32 hours or so to go before window closes.
  11. Fully agree - pace for a full back is a prerequisite. For centre backs not quite as key, look at the great Bobby Moore, the first couple of yards were in the head. All four were terrific. If Mike Harrison had had Fergies' heart and aggression, he would have been a world beater - football wise he had the lot and possibly the best penalty taker I have EVER seen. Absolutely - think Brittain is a poor, cowardly defender, a total wuss who you wouldn't want in the trenches with you. The mind boggles on coaching and how they don't address a player's weakness. When I played we used to have 'red sock' sessions where you wore a red sock on your 'weak' leg and then we'd have 15 minute 5 a sides where you were only allowed to use your weak 'red sock' leg. They were rapid and intense where you saw plenty of the ball and it didn't half help.
  12. This window might just end up better than anyone of us thought. Definitely need, on top of Nixon's 4, at least 1 CM and ideally another winger and striker (where Germaine would be very useful and get Siggy out the door). If that little lot happens snd the new boys all hit their straps, one can dare to dream of a top 6 finish.
  13. If the Daily Record article of Pune sign-off for Cantwell required then it really does show how dysfunctional the club is. If Cantwell is seen as a 'marquee' signing then surely you agree with Pune first the parameters of the deal before sitting down with Cantwell and if negotiations are within those parameters then you are home and dry, if not, waste no further time and move on.
  14. Indeed - consumption for the guillible!
  15. We should have closed the deal BEFORE Marseille were even on the scene. Think it's fair to say we p1ssed about once again. Snooze and you lose!
  16. Indeed - your similar scribblings give the game away!
  17. If Cantwell doesn't have medical today then signing not happening. With only 2 days left of window, you process the signings as quickly as possible not only to keep the decks clear for the next one but to stop any possible hijacking of player.
  18. So it's almost certain we will have no new number 1 goalie who is ready to play. Pears will play and I think the odds have now swung even more favourably their way.
  19. Perhaps Cantwell thinks Blackburn is a London suburb. He'll be sure to be disappointed when he learns Cavendish/Peppermint Place and Manhattan Heights are no longer standing!
  20. There are two airports in the NW with Manchester taking flights from all over the world and there are shuttle flights from London to Manchester!
  21. Does seem a strange one when presumably he's Glasgow based at the moment.
  22. You would think Cantwell would be signed only upon completion of a medical. @Scoobydoposted he was meeting Waggott and Wright this afternoon so hardly think a medical has been done and dusted so quickly.
  23. If this had actually happened we would know all about it!!!
  24. 60 hours to bring in the 5 or 6 quality additions needed - not happening.
