  1. Come on Jim give JDL a chance. Already with a pretty thin squad we look a lot, lot better. Two opening wins, 4 goals and 2 clean sheets - could hardly have done better. We might just have unearthed a managerial diamond who will take us on a REAL JOURNEY!!!
  2. A night to uncork one of my finest reds. Well done JDL - you have given us positivity, nous and hope. Venky's - make sure you back this feckin manager as he knows what he's doing and he might just help you to recoup huge parts of your losses.
  3. Agree. For perspective, I think we paid Gills £750k for Dack who had never played in Championship and we know how that turned out.
  4. It is when your two main back-ups (Carter and Barnes) are injured together and your main man (Ayala) has a poor injury record.
  5. Huge blow if correct. We've played 1 game and have already lost 2 centre backs. Our squad is paper thin and we need 6 more very good additions.
  6. Morton hasn't come here as cover - why on earth would he when he could do that at Liverpool and certainly Liverpool wouldn't allow him to come here as cover. For goodness sake, the lad's already played some 10 1st team games for Liverpool including 2 CL games, something that would be beyond Travis and Buckley.
  7. Shearer came back from his ACL remakably well and quickly almost immediately firing on all cylinders - recall him coming off the bench away to Newcastle and netting as only he could. He was then up and running. Contrast to Dack who, IMO, is struggling with fitness and mobility and I think the harsh reality is that he may never be up to the rigours of the Championship again.
  8. He once was. I doubt he'll get anywhere the level he was - don't think the signs are good.; A great shame for the lad and the club.
  9. Think it will be very much a 2nd string after yesterday's Charity shield.
  10. Would recommend the sale of Gallagher and transport available foc!
  11. Dack is an interesting and difficult one. Do Rovers stick or twist or do they even have an option? A big earner with 12 months to go on contract but, IMO, struggling for form, fitness, mobility etc. IMO, not a natural athlete and you have to question what Dack can bring to the party now given he turns 29 this year and on the back of two bad injuries and I think I'm right in saying not having started or completed a 1st team competitive game in almost 18 months. Think he's now an expensive luxury to have sat on the bench and I think the last thing Rovers need in this 'new era' is for any individual or ego to rock the boat. The question is, given his wages, inactivity and the unknown of what is actually left of a player who once promised so much, would there even be any takers? Does anyone know what Carter's injury is? Are we looking at days or weeks?
  12. A win is a win. Starting season well is so important. Clearly, we need some very good additions. Keep saying it but confidence and momentum are everything and only long undefated runs give you that.
  13. Worrying if it took them a month to fathom that out!
  14. Think Nixon is a marmite character and a tad maligned. He's actually quite likeable and very good company. Pros like Nixon forge relationships and 'look after' their contacts Think Sharpe is wet behind the ears and lacks the wherewithal and that's why he knows diddly squat.
  15. Any advisor would be saying to BBD, forget an extended contract with Rovers. Sit tight, consider any offers should Rovers agree a fee with anyone - if you don't fancy it, worse case scenario is you move to another Championship club next season and bank a big slice of your perceived value. Best case, a PL club come in next season and you get a huge wage increase and again bank a big slice of your perceived value. Sadly, there is only going to be one winner here and Rovers are between a rock and a hard place. Think it will be a big stretch to get anywhere near £15million. Think anyone who thinks otherwise is living with the fairies.
  16. Make no mistake, Saturday's result will set the tone for the rest of the season. Lose and we could be on skid row. Confidence and momentum everything in this league.
  17. If anyone seriously thinks we will get £25million for BBD then they need to give their head one hell of a wobble. He is in the last year of his contract, is unproven at PL level and has had one good season out of 3/4 in Championship. Is he a one hit season wonder? I would snap the hand off any club willing to give us a straight £15million Feels like we will have to accept £10/12million or we will have another Lenihan/Rothwell on our hands.
  18. There wasn't any Rovers' interest. My understanding is Rovers were offered Delap on loan but Mowbray said 'no'. Ask Waggott if you see him on Saturday.
  19. Have to disagree. Liverpool spent about £170million on Becker, Van Dijk and Konate with Konate the cheapest at a reported £36million - from memory, Klopp has only exceeded Koate's fee twice on forward signings (Jota and Nunez). As for attacking players stepping up from the Championship, there is a trail of 'flat track Championship bullies' who have failed big time stepping up to the PL as we saw with our own Rhodes and Armstrong.
  20. Brereton roughly same age and 1 year left on his contract. Just why do Rovers and some fans think we can get top dollar for Brereton and pick up others in similar circumstances, like VH, for relative buttons. It really is nonsense.
  21. Pretty sure 99 managers out of 100 would have taken the Delap option! Different type of players anyhow - understand the money was there so Mowbray could, and should, have signed both! It really does beggar belief.
  22. Social media has changed the world. Likes of Jack Tipping (cartoonist supreme) and Peter White were always good for a bit of 'discrete' info if you had their confidence.
  23. I'll better that and pay for the feckin lot and then open a special red to celebrate.
  24. Good luck Gus. Go and find some feckin diamonds for us.
  25. The bottom line, IMO, is that Brereton HAS to be sold ASAP. The only way we are going to be able to make quality additions who can come in and make an impact from day 1. We need to be punching hard from next Saturday. Momentum and confidence is everything in Championship.
