I always remember a home match in April last year when I thought both Bayes and Gallacher were unusually critical pre match - this was the time when speculation was rife that Mowbray was heading for the exit door. Now we have Sharpe calling out Mowbray: Mowbray’s comments of Peterborough ‘not threatening our goal for 80 minutes’ were disingenuous. Were it not for a fingertip Thomas Kaminski save, and poor finishes from Sam Szmodics and Kwame Poku, Posh could have had two or three goals in the first half. Make no mistake, if and when (and it looks almost certainly 'when') Mowbray leaves in the next few weeks, IMO, we will be left in a real 'Coyleyesque' mess. Our three best defenders all likely to be gone - Lenihan and Nyambe for feck all and Hecke back to Brighton. Rothwell almost certainly will be gone again for nowt. Brereton will look at what's left and, IMO, think feck this for a game of soldiers, I'm off. Whilst I think Dack is really struggling and may never get back to anywhere his best - if he does, I think he'll be another who's off. Khadra will go back to Brighton. Just where does that leave us? Rhodes and Armstrong are not fit to lace the boots of either Cole or Jansen. Cole and Jansen did it at the highest level with silverware and caps to show for it - if it hadn't been for Jansen's accident, I think he would have become a Rovers' 'great' with great reserved for the likes of Shearer, Tugay etc. IMO, Rhodes was a 'flat track bully' found wanting at PL level whilst Armstrong seems to be in the same mould. Cooper is a class act - I know someone who has worked closely with him and football wise, he rates Cooper as one of the most intelligent coaches/managers he has come across. One way or another, he'll soon be in the PL.

Think it will be disastrous if we don't go up. Nyambe, Lenihan and Rothwell will all be off for nowt. Why on earth would Lenihan want to stay here at his age knowing our squad is going to be decimated? Lenihan's next contract will almost certainly be the biggest of his career and at his age he needs to make hay whilst the sun still shines. Think it's a certainty Brereton will go with La Liga the most likely destination.

Think the only chance we have of signing him is if we get promoted. Think the lad is destined for bigger things than Rovers in PL. His performances will not have gone unnoticed.

I remember the match back in 1966/67 quite well. A big crowd on that day (pushing 30,000) with a big Coventry following. Thought we had the beating of them until Fergie did what Fergie did and stuck a real one on a Coventry player in the first half (and sent off) and it was always going to be up hill then to a good team. Think Bobby Gould netted their winner? Absolutely. A huge concern for Rovers - could finish his season. Lenihan and Van Hecke injured on international duty and with Ayala also out for goodness how much longer, defensively we look to be struggling for at least the Coventry match and very possibly Blackpool as well.

Might be wrong here but think the turning point for Garner under Kendall came in a 1-0 Rovers' win at Chesterfield in the height of winter. Seem to recall Garner netting with a header at the 'open' end. It was one bloody cold day and a treacherous journey there and back.
