  1. Do any Rovers fans take it in non-league football? Darwen have a good set-up and appear to be ready to climb back up the National League system and I've heard that Mill Hill are looking to join the West Lancs league. I've recently joined the committee at Bamber Bridge and have taken on the task of looking to almost double our average attendance from around 450 to over 800. Yes, it's going to be a challenge but without significantly increasing our revenue we are genuinely in danger of giving up 35 years of being 100% fan funded in the National League system and selling our soul to an investor. We have a good relationship with the youth set-up at Rovers and recently had winger Lorenze Mullarkey-Mathews on loan and had goalkeeper Felix Goddard with us the season before when we lost out on promotion to the National League North to Warrington Town so Blackburn is an obvious place to try and drum up some extra support. Given the new Sky deal in the Championship, the days of the Saturday 3pm kick off are going to be reduced but for the traditionalists out there we're going to be offering an alternative to those with a free Saturday if there's lots of Friday and Monday night fixtures in the championship. By the time the fixtures are released we're aiming to have a new ticketing structure in place with offers on aimed at getting new people in during international breaks so would be interested in hearing views from folk on what might work.
  2. I haven't been posting much recently .... I only wish it was due to our relegation ... My Dad slipped away " gently into the good night " in the early hours of 21st May, aged 88. He had suffered from advancing vascular dementia in his last few years, but thanks to the love and support of our wonderful mother, was able to stay in his own home until relatively recently. Dad was brought up on a new Council estate in Aspley, Nottingham, the son of a Boots factory girl who left school at 14, and a Post Office Engineer. His father died on active service when Dad was 7, leaving my Gran to raise two children with the help of her family. Dad passed the 11+, and attended High Pavement G.S. where he became Head of School ( 1953-54 ). He was offered a choral scholarship at Gonville & Cauis College, Cambridge on the condition he obtained Latin " O " Level, then a requirement for the Engineering tripos. He achieved this qualification by correspondence School, in less than 6 months, whilst doing National Service between 1954-56. He was commissioned in the Royal Signals, serving in Egypt & Cyprus and stayed on the " Reserve " until 1968. He went up to Cambridge in 1956, with his £40 pa Scholarship " It wasn't a fortune, but it allowed me to keep Sherry in my rooms ! ", he often said. He would recall conversing with Harold Abrahams, the 1924 Olympic 100m Champion, at a couple of College Dinners, long before light was shed on Abrahams' story with the film " Chariots of Fire ". On graduating, he married my mother in 1959, whom he'd met at 17 at an inter-school dance in Nottingham. She was by then an SRN at Westminster Hospital. He then spent the next 45 years in manufacturing industry, running and designing new production facilities in primarily printing and glass manufacture. We moved to Clitheroe in 1975 when Dad was head-hunted to run Joseph Arnold & Co, in Church, then the largest printers of Greeting Cards in Europe. In 1996, he suffered a heart attack aged 60, and underwent a six-way bypass in Boston, Mass whilst on holiday, Luckily, they had taken out Travel Insurance. He was also fortunate that the lead surgeon at Deaconess Hospital was the Emeritus Professor of Cardiology at Harvard ! He retired aged 69, following the successful sale of a Glass Company in which he had a stake. He wasn't a clubable man particularly, preferring time with his family and in his garden. As befitting a former Choral Scholar, music was ever present in our house growing up. He loved his Rugby, Cricket & Athletics and was a life-long fan of Notts County. He's survived by our mother, his wife of 64 years, and his 3 children. He was an adored father-in-law, grandfather of 5, and had 2 great-grand-daughters ... Goodnight and God bless Dad .... Thank you for everything.
  3. I’ll admit I started looking for the old ‘Where are they now?’ Thread to discuss Phil Jones as I just remembered he existed and I’m not sure if he’s formally retired but likely is done after just 200 career matches, what a waste! Anyway I thought given its transfer silly season it may be fun to look back at some of our more random signings that came and went over the last few years and see what they went on to, and did we miss any gems? Alex Marrow - so good we signed him twice! But shockingly after his second stint at Rovers in 2013 his future was a slide back down the EFL pyramid, his Wikipedia ends abruptly but last seen at Fylde I believe Doneil Henry - better than Thierry? No as it turns out, loaned from West Ham in 2015 before he got injured and then we loaned him again the year after. Seems after his return to West Ham he spent time with the mighty AC Horsens before he was released and then spent the next few years in the MLS but has been without a club since January last year Bangali Fode Koita - look I was always going to include this guy. I remember watching him in an early round league cup game and I’ve never been so excited to see someone hit the post with a piledriver, it was all downhill from there sadly! Seems he had moderate success after leaving us playing for Trabzonspor and Kasimpasa in Turkey, he also got a cap for his native Guinea against Benin it would appear. Martin Samuelsen - this kid had potential he’d shone on loan previously at Peterborough and had something about him and I thought he’d go on to do well but another it just never worked out for, a few more loads to Peterborough and Burton Albion along with lower league teams on the continent but was released from West Ham in 2020, joined Hull where he didn’t do much before moving back to Norway. Tommie Hoban - a sad tale as this lad looked a solid centre halve at our level, plagued with injuries and retired very early in his career but recently joined a non league side to get playing again Rekeem Harper - brought in on loan from West Brom in 2017 most remembered for giving a penalty away in an FA cup game along with a red card, another with a host of loans, joined Burton Albion and played 27 games in league one last season so may end up a reasonable Lower league player Karim Rekic - look one of the random loans had to be a winner right? After his less than memorable loan here in 2013 he enjoyed permanent spells at Marseille, Hertha and Sevilla where he won the europa league, he also got 4 caps for the Netherlands before retiring to the UAE league Antonis Stergiakis - young keeper; seem to remember he made his debut in the final game of a season and we were slightly sad he left, he went to Panetolikos in Greece where he has apparently made 3 appearances and is currently better than both Aynsley and Leo! We’ve brought in some fun ones for sure (stayed tuned in a few years for dynamic updates on Billy K and Deyo Zeefuik)
  4. Afternoon all Currently in a pub out in the sticks near Stockport which turns out is run by old school Man City fans. In amongst all their displays is a collage of Man City away tickets from the 1980s and 90s with two Rovers ones - a bright pink one for the Darwen End in on 15 April 1989 and an obscured one for August (?) 1992 in the 'Terrace' (for only £8!). It's got me thinking what other random Rovers merch/references/memorabilia others have come across in seemingly odd places - be it pubs or lower league grounds or whatever else well off Rovers' patch. Anyone have any?
  5. Fascinating bit of Rovers trivia here about Simon Garner's club record 192 Rovers goals. As revealed by 4,000 Holes this season, it appears that one goal in 1980 was incorrectly credited to him – so should the true record be 191 goals? Full details in this article: https://brfcs.com/magazine/articles/the-phantom-garner-goal/546 It's not quite "were Rovers actually founded in 1874?!" but any information, explanations or opinions about this mystery would be greatly appreciated!
  6. A Leicester supporter has come forward and submitted a wonderful long read about Rovers ahead of Saturday's match. Lots of trivia and obscure facts which perhaps some Rovers fans do not even know about. Please give it a look! https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/articles/an-outsider's-view-of-rovers-history/532
  7. hi. just dug out my old "never mind the owners" tee and it's looking a tad tired . i'm certain i bought it from this forum years ago? if so, are they still available? can't seem to find a "shop" tab. any info appreciated.
  8. Sing to the song hi Ho silver lining. Were everywhere and nowhere baby - in the championship. Fighting for promotion - to the premier league. Jack brought in king Kenny - Shearer did his bit. West Ham fucked United because they played fucking shit. ---- Singing Hi - Ho Blackburn Rovers living Uncle Jacks dream and we are. still the only town to win the premier league, and it’s fabulous. ---- Dingles got promotion - they were fucking shit. They got relegated because company did his bit. 9. So, I collect Rovers VHS tapes. The only Rovervision Video Magazine I’ve ever seen was number 2. Does anyone know how many of this series were made? Or if not exact, a later number you know exists so I can narrow down possibly how many there are I’ve nearly completed a collection of season reviews, wondering how many of these I need to keep my eye out for.
  10. I recall that season ticket prices were discussed during the secret meeting with Swag and a few of the senior players recently... do we think there's any chance that he's taken the feedback on board, and will offer prices more reasonable for the area? What do you expect the prices to be this year? Of course, the league we are in will be a big factor. If we stay up, i'd hope for the maximum adult ticket price to be £350 - in the JW Upper. £299 in the Riverside, and somewhere in the middle for the JW Lower and BBE. Though that's probably dreamland stuff with Waggott running the show...

  12. Can anyone please help me? I'm looking for the row and seat numbers for the groups of ten seats situated directly above the exits from the seating to the concourse in the Darwen Lower. Odd request, I know, but it's to get the best tickets for an away supporter who is partially sighted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi Everyone, Does anyone have a 94/95 shirt they’d be willing to sell — stipulation being it has to be collected today? Alternatively does anyone have a new and unused shirt from this season for sale? Send me a DM if you do!
  14. Whatever happened to the official rovers forum that was on rovers.co.uk? must of been 10 years or more since i was on it and it doesnt seem to be about anymore?
  15. I tend to assume that the loons in Pune will continue to get the green light for sending funds over, unfortunately keeping the circus going for a good while longer. There's also no doubt that they'll reduce the amount of funds they send, after recent earnings. We've just got a guaranteed £18m for Wharton, £500k for Ennis and have ~£4m coming in from the Raya sale in the summer. So that'll be ~£22.5m in total... before we flog anyone else. Looking ahead to the summer: Ben Chrisene, Billy Koumetio, Yasin Ayari, and Andrew Moran will return to their parent clubs. Plus, the short-term contracts of Kyle McFadz and John Fleck will be up. Trav and Vale will be coming back. At a normal Club, Eustace would be properly backed after receiving income like that - but as we all know, this is far from a normal Club... In your opinion, will Eustace have some cash to play with in the summer, or not?
  16. You may have noticed the "Rogue Cookie Issue Fix" message at the top of the site...or you may not (!) either way - here's a pdf which hopefully provides some guidance as to how to do what you need to do to remove the rogue cookie that has been causing mischief... Apologies for the inconvenience...hope it helps...🙏 So you need to clear site specific cookies 1.1.pdf
  17. How do I go about volunteering to paint the unloved wood in the upper tier of the Jack walker stand. I will supply the brush and paint / my time for free. Photo taken this weekend at the QPR game.

  18. 2 spare tickets (seated together) for the Alan Shearer event at King George's Hall on 9th Feb. Happy to sell seperately or together. Paid £40 each, but will accept £20 each. PM if interested 👍
  19. Hi there, just hoping somebody on here could help with the online ticketing system. I’m having trouble buying a ticket for the Wrexham game, I’ve registered an account and tried to purchase tickets but keep getting an error message saying “Unfortunately, one or more items in your basket is assigned to a newly registered client, which is not allowed”. Can anyone advise on why it’s being such a pain to get a ticket. For clarity, neither me or my friend support Blackburn or Wrexham, we’ve been trying to get around the 92 grounds and cup games are a good opportunity to go to random matches that might be interesting, would be a bit out of my way to travel to the ground just to visit the ticket office. Thanks in advance for any help.
  20. Hello all, I’ve started this thread to discuss protest ideas so those in support can start taking positive action against the current state of the club and owners Venky’s & CEO Steve Waggott. Their short sighted and non-sensical business decisions are slowly killing BRFC from the inside out and it cannot be allowed to go on. As fans we’re the only ones with the best interests of Blackburn Rovers Football Club at heart 💙🤍🌹 Aims of the Protest Movement 1. The ultimate aim is for Venky’s to sell the club to new owners who are present, communicate with the fans and have the best interests of the club & fans at heart AND the community it is part of. 2. The initial aim is to voice the growing frustration of the fan base & for the current CEO Steve Waggott to start communicating with us and to be open & transparent about the ongoing financial issues and resultant inability to recruit the quality & number of players we need to progress as a club. 3. If there is no response from the club to the initial aims, the protest will enter its next stage, ideas below: Ideas Further ideas would be welcomed on how to take this forward. There were the first rumblings in the Blackburn End v Huddersfield with the “Venky’s Out” chant but we need more co-ordinated action for the owners & CEO to really sit up and listen. They’ve had a far too easy ride up until now. Some ideas I’ve had already: 1. Protest with banners/sign reveal and singing on 18 & 75 minutes during a league game. This could be as simple as downloading the below image onto your phone or iPad & holding it up as well as home made banners, signs and the like for those who want to. 2. A Reading style pitch invasion and sit down protest during a game. This would be a last resort currently. 3. Printing of t-shirts and a full on march style protest ending up at the Jack Walker statue before a League home game Any further and even more innovative ideas would be welcomed…. Venky’s & Waggott…were comin’ for you!
  21. Lets vote on this critical topic to gauge opinion. Now a realistic prospect. Some will see it as a new beginning (next Bolton) whilst some will be terrified it could be the end (next Bury). Poll above.
  22. Following on the doggy in the window post .. a bit of light heartedness to break the crap up... Rovers players related to animals.. Roy Waggly
  23. I have uncovered a signed shirt, and I believe it’s from the 11/12 season 😭😅 Can you name the signatures on it? No prizes, just a bit of fun (playing fast and loose with that definition). Yes, he who must not be named is on there…
  24. Hi, Due to a change in our travel plan we can not visit the fa cup match vs Cambridge united anymore. We have 10 tickets for sale face value 100 pounds. Im happy to help somebody out so not all of the money is required. You can contact via email, Jop Boeijkens
  25. Hey all, I know that it is an expensive time of year, but I'm involved in a charity drive as part of my work and, as it has a bit of a Blackburn Rovers theme, I thought that this would be a good place to share it. As part of my work with UNESCO we are having a little bit of an internal fundraising challenge to get money for sports equipment and kits for a network of schools that we work with in developing countries. As part of that challenge, each of us has taken on the goal of getting as much kit and equipment relating to the club that we support as possible. As the only Rovers supporter, I am at a serious disadvantage, but it would be great to be able to send some Rovers kit and merchandise off as part of the project. Most of the donations have been in cash so far, but here's a link to the PayPal fundraising drive. Donations of any amount are always appreciated and I'll keep everyone updated once the project really gets going. https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/90prfl7oVk
