v Ipswich Town (h) - 20/9/25

Not surprised - but if I were Rovers I would tell the EFL that if the loss of three points mean we get relegated (or less likely) miss out on the chance of promotion we reserve the right to take them to court for loss of earnings. -

There are no direct precedents for this decision, but I assume if anyone at the board meeting floated(pun intended) the argument/suggestion that any other decision could lead to clubs being tempted to allow waterlogging of the pitch when losing an important game, this would be difficult to argue against. Also, the solution of playing remaining minutes would become farcical if only one minute remained... However, in terms of actual fairness, the whole debacle is weighed 100% against Rovers (apart from the wet Tuesday night in Stoke argument...). For example, and I'm sure this has been mentioned in this thread, Ipswich like Rovers lost many of their best players over the summer but, unlike Rovers, they invested £50m+ in replacements, after a net spend of £100m the previous summer. Inevitably, the improvement in their performances as the new squad gels and develops will favour Ipswich more than Rovers as the season progresses. I hope natural justice prevails but, although it will be a bloody good game, with added national focus, I fear we will be happy with a point based on Ipswich's results over the next few weeks. Hopefully, the sheer sense of injustice will bring another 500 thro the gate and squeeze us over the line... -

Can’t help but feel like if this happened at their place it would have had a different outcome. 5 games in and our luck has already been atrocious. Nothing we can do now but swallow the bitter pill and get on with it. Hope it lights a fire in the player’s bellies. On to the Valley we go. -

This was always going to be the outcome so I'm not going to get mad at it. We just have to hope we can actually turn up for a midweek fixture for once. If anything I'm more annoyed at our complete inability to provide an adequate pitch - obviously there are limits with drainage etc but lets not pretend like the pitch hasn't been an issue in general for years now. -

So open both end uppers, and charge £50. Charge whatever for the Blackburn end lower tier and don’t open the Darwen end lower. No one would buy tickets for the BE upper, job done 😀 - Today

Suspect we'll find out more from Ismael after his pre match presser, but the silence from the club possibly suggests that he's out for another sustained period of time. -

Some other team can benefit from the suspension though, whilst we repeat the whole charade and get zero reward for our endeavours, so that's lovely right? -

Not surprised at all with the outcome, but its an absolute disgrace that it took this long to get to the conclusion that was probably always going to be the way it went. The red card still standing makes for a future pub quiz question somewhere. -

Yes. As I said in my last post, they are as complicit as we are if they don't go any further than just ordering a replay. -

Not even the rules, just an irrational set of precedents. The rules allowed them to replay part of the game, something they're apparently not willing to do at all. -
You haven't lived until you've listened to Stuart Pearce talk about playing between the lines. It's like listening to Wayne Rooney narrate Great Expectations.

If our ground is inadequate (and I’m not saying it isn’t) shouldn’t the EFL be insisting we remedy this?
