  1. Past hour
  2. That's a bit sudden....... Suddenly pushing to get restrictions removed in time for a last minute splurge in the transfer window? ....... Then the alarm went off................. 😂
  3. Was just about to post that 😉 Also, how does Grant Hanley still keep getting called up? He has hardly played for the past couple of years
  4. Don't know if it's the same everywhere but in this Country, instead of trying to make things happen, everyone is absolutely obsessed with possession stats and not giving the ball away or "turning over possession" as is the modern lingo. Maybe if Dolan is encouraged to take his man on a bit more over there and/or cross whenever he gets an opportunity we might see an even more effective player than we had here.
  5. If we're comparing Dolan and Buckley, as someone else pointed out a while ago, in early 2020 Dolan was out on loan at Clitheroe and now he's playing in La Liga, so whatever the experts on here who think he's "an instagrammable Ryan Hedges" might say, he must be doing something right. Buckley on the other hand was apparently seen within the Club at one time as our "next £10m player" and bagged himself a bumper five year deal off Broughton since which time he's disappeared off the face of the earth. Buckley is probably also the more naturally talented of the two but just looks like he doesn't enjoy playing professional football. I really can't understand how Dolan, whose attitude was always exemplary, and who has made the absolute most of his abilities, cops so much flak whereas Buckley who appears to have completely wasted his, gets relatively little.
  6. Hyam named in the Scotland squad. Good news for Rovers, should add a few quid on to his sale price.
  7. As a Texan American, I enjoy seeing other Americans perform well, just not against Rovers. 😄
  8. Probably silly of us to be comparing some or the lads who've left from the ones who came in. Those who've left have experience in this league, those who've come in don't and have very different qualities... That said, I don't think anyone can argue that the lads who've come in have far more potential to improve.
  9. Also surely would need the likes of Hyam and Tronstad to be signed up.
  10. We won't get that space against Norwich, let's not get our heads in the clouds, and give it 100%.
  11. I'd 100% rather have Dolan and Brittain vs Alebiosu and De Neve. Which is no slight on the boys. McLaughlin vs Batth seems closer, but I saw Batth for 35+ games vs 3 for Sean. I'd call it a wash, but Sean is younger and looked the part after 270 mins. Henricksson and Baradji vs JRC and Buckley isn't even close without seeing much or any of the two new guys. The departing two offered nothing barring being academy graduates. Tavares vs Bradford was excellent, seems extremely raw beyond that... give me Travis. Miller I dont really have a 1:1 comparison, but good addition. Morishita should an excellent addition to replace Weimann etc. Pears and Leonard out for New GK2 and New CF will almost certainly make us better. Though the aim should be a starting forward and not a like for like replacement for Leonard. Mixed bag for sure, but for me an A+ summer would have been the ones in bold vs the actual business.
  12. Yes Hedges had a good all round performance and took his goal expertly. BUT He did miss two other chances he should have scored from AND He had screwed his shot well wide from Todd's sensational reversed free kick until Ohashi's tummy saved his blushes. Incidentally the sight of Yuki berating the 4th Official about the Hull scoreboard will outlive even the memory of the 3-0 win!
  13. Let's hope we can get our 1st home win of the season, to send you home happy.
  14. We offered the same length of deal that they signed at Derby. The idea that they wanted more than 1 year seemingly was a myth that was created to justify it. The issue is that no one will sign a new deal. Still overshadows any transfer business.
  15. Today
  16. Norwich will be a tougher test than Hull. I would reward the team that won at Hull, by starting the same team. I'm not making any predictions, mine always go pear shaped. If we can get our first win at home of the season, we'll be gathering a bit of momentum.
  17. I think Kargbo needs to play around an hour of every match up to and including Wrexham on New Year’s Day to reach the conversion threshold.
  18. That's football, the best 11 form players get the nod. When the players on the bench get their chance, grab it with both arms.
  19. Yep, however I didn’t disagree with the club only offering Batth and Wiemann short deals and within the wage cap. Wiemann in particular for me, would have been in the ‘experienced help for the younger players’ mould. Whether the wage cap overall is a good idea, is another argument. They did leave holes but think McLouglin was an excellent piece of business, as was Miller. We really need another striker though.
  20. If Hedges could play like that every week, he'd have the Blackburn end chanting his name.
  21. Just rewatched the game. Todd got MOTM and deservedly so, because he knits everything together like a puppet master. Some other players to praise with really good performances; Alebiosu. He is full of energy, pacey and better defensively than Brittain imo. Powerhouse going forward. Tavares needs a mention too. In one part of the game he sprinted left of the pitch to cover for hedges, 20-30 seconds later he is in the opposite corner trying to get a cross in. Tavares looks very neat and tidy and full of running. Considering the academy players. No doubt that Montgomerys preferred position is midfield. He has a bit about him, not afraid to get stuck in and played some neat passes together with Tronstad, Cantewell. McLoughlin is an amazing signing. Solid and steady. Cant say I miss Batth. Wharton however looked quite miserable on the bench, but I guess he wants to play.
  22. There has been a bit of a change of narrative with Batth and Weimann. It wasnt our choice to let them go. We tried to keep them but as with every other contract, it wasnt good enough. It may turn out for the best as they are getting on, indeed I wouldnt have offered Weimann a deal to begin with. But it wasnt our plan. And if they do struggle this season, it isnt to the clubs credit. They leeft big holes compared to last year regardless of how they do this season.
  23. I have a feeling that Forshaw is this seasons McFadzean. Would've probably played against Bradford if fit, but now Rovers are out of the cup it's unlikely we'll see him when he is ready unless there is a huge injury crisis in midfield.
  24. I actually quite like the business we have done so far. If we can get this deal over the line and at the minimum add a striker, whilst replacing anyone else we lose (Pears etc) with better players (key!) then we have done well. Batth and Wiemann are currently getting slated by Derby fans, so maybe we were right to not risk another year (or two). Beck appears to be injury prone. Travis will be a big loss but think a pairing of Sonny and someone else with a bit more creativity is better for our attack. Dolan at the end of the season was class but so, so inconsistent and frustrating before that. JRC, Buckley and Leonard all need / needed moving on in my view. Callum is the one I did not want to lose, and hope Alebiosu and Miller can fill that void. I really like the look of them and Tavares, McLoughlin looks like a bargain, Toth has stepped up, and for some reason I have a good feeling about Baradji and Axel. I wouldn’t have brought Forshaw back but can see the positives for the younger lads. I thought De Neve looked good when he came on towards the end of the Hull game but not convinced. Like I said, if we add a striker and Morishita, and replace Buckley, Pears with better, then I like the look of what we are doing.
