  1. Past hour
  2. That hoary old chestnut "who could we possibly get in that's better than him?" raises its' ugly head yet again and it's no more compelling an argument than it ever was in the past. For me it's quite simple. If a manager clearly isnt working out, he has to go - at least at a normal Club. I liken it to a situation with a broken light bulb, you can come in every day hoping that bulb will suddenly start to work, but it won't. The only alternative is to change the bulb and hope that the new one doesn't go wrong before you expected. We had this for years when Mowbray was here, "Who could we possibly get in better than him? Errr......predictably as it turned out, the next two guys who came in immediately after him and with Gary Bowyer after which I think most people would say Lambert was an upgrade. I didn't want VI when he was appointed and I think we're going down when if he stays. For me he has no appealing features whatsoever and at a normal Club I think the powers that be would be rolling the dice and taking a chance on someone else. Unfortunately we know we're not a normal Club and we know results on the pitch are secondary to cutting costs so I suppose he'll be completely safe for the foreseeable. Maybe a token gesture will be made to replace him when it's too late to try and deflect some blame away from the 2 stooges. Happy Days.
  3. I really don’t care what anyone thinks about people who bought season tickets. I certainly don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me. I’m a grown up and make my own decisions what to spend my money on. As for attending games, yes it can be a chore (me and my son got home around midnight due to the M62 being closed) but I do it because I enjoy watching football and supporting Rovers. It’s a pity that Venkys and their management can’t realise that filling the squad with below average players and playing them in preference to the likes of experienced players e.g. Ribeiro and Pickering will only end one way.
  4. No, I have lost almost all interest. I have gone from being a season ticket holder who went to most away games. To attending the occasional home game, mainly for the social life before and after the game.
  5. Subbing Forshaw, Gueye and De Neve on all at once last night was ludicrous. He turned a poor show into a shit show.
  6. Is the suggestion that in previous seasons the home atmosphere has been so electric that it's been the reason why our home record has generally been decent? That this season is so much worse in terms of atmosphere that it's having a negative impact on performance? Feels like a stretch. Most likely it's just that we have players better suited to counter attacking football, who are not talented enough to adapt to teams sitting back and playing on the break themselves because they are mostly cheap imports.
  7. The heat from the pies is the best bit of the evening.
  8. So if nobody turns up, we could sell all the tickets, to the away supporters, and they could take over the ground. Good logic Einstein. I take it you watched the game on television, in the comfort of your armchair.
  9. Was never expecting a good crowd but on the back of Friday i was expecting a few more of the loyal hardcore to be in there and a bit more of a positive atmosphere. A bit more of a normal feel to it is the best way to describe it but looking around and the vibe you'd have thought we'd just been hammered off Burnley again. That doesn't help the players and if you with all your Rovers experience can't see that then i'm surprised. As iv'e pointed out repeatedly my main concern is it gives those implementing the managed decline more ammunition and gives the coach ready made excuses. For the record non of that washes with me it doesn't matter if no one is there the players are paid to put a shift in and the Head Coach is paid for selection, tactics and use of subs. All poor yet again last night and naff all to do with the crowd or lack of it but if we as fans want intensity on the pitch we have to do our bit as well and howl them into it. That isn't happening either.
  10. Were doomed pathetic performance, Most of the games lost at home, have been to clubs lower than us, and lingering near us.
  11. I don't feel sorry in the slightest for people who bought season tickets. They knew what to expect with the current people running the club, and yet they still made the decision to buy the season tickets.
  12. Some of our players, should have been wearing Q.P.R. shirts last night, they passed it to them, and gave the ball away to them for ninety minutes. After last night's performance, Sheffield Wednesday will fancy their chances at Ewood.
  13. No, it is downgrading ---but its called rebuilding.
  14. As someone who is normally one of the best posters on the Forum, I think you're way off the mark blaming the fans in any way, shape or form. This season is it one win, one draw and six defeats at home in the League plus a defeat at home in the League Cup this season? (The latter of which we were told doesn't count) I actually feel desperately sorry for anyone who's forked out good money for a season ticket this season. Where's the attraction in trailing down to Ewood every game to see us get beaten? The players need to give the fans something, anything, to latch on to. But they're not doing. To rub salt in the wound, this fraud of a Head Coach who has been complicit in the destruction of the squad and Miller (who imo is playing several levels above his actual ability) have had the gall to infer its the atmosphere in the stadium which is to blame. Finally, if you can't see the reason why more people turned up for a one off game to celebrate our 150th anniversary on a Saturday (against a former manager a few could cast as the pantomime villain) than for a midweek night fixture on the red button at the end of November I despair. As a side issue, was the £17 offer in the Riversjde even publicised? Im on this site every day and wasn't aware of it.
  15. There are people who wouldn’t go if it was free as long as the Chicken Chokers are our owners.
  16. I got a text from my grandson earlier, I hadn’t realised he’d gone over from Liverpool. He said the best thing about the game was the pie he had.
  17. The bubble will burst, on away wins sooner or later, if we don't start winning at home, we can wave goodbye to the Championship.
  18. And therein lies the problem. Nobody cares down there about dwindling attendances or more importantly the reasons for them. They are tone deaf and are content to keep their heads in the sand and ignore the real issues as long as they keep their cushy number and inflated salaries. There are many reasons for our vanishing supporter base and the vast, vast majority can be laid at the door of the club, the way it's run from top to bottom. With another two midweek home games coming up I feel this whole debate will be regurgitated again when a few thousand are rattling around Ewood.
  19. An insult to the loyal Blackburn Rovers supporters, in their 150th anniversary year. They can't win in front of their home supporters, we must be close to the worst home record in the Championship. Hang your heads in shame.
  20. Yes all roads lead back to the poor unambitionless handling of season tickets.
  21. I think my points about it adding to the problems instead of fighting against them and playing into the hands of the excuse makes and cost cutters are very valid ones. I know i'm not alone on that outside the confines of this board but yes we know the root cause and they are reaping what they've sown. They'll never own up to it though it just provides more ammunition to blame the lack of crowds for further managed decline.
  22. Floating fans and even a load of ST holders aren’t arsed about night games, red button has done them in. Same everywhere just amplified here due to having so few ST holders to start with in a big ground. Its a non-issue to me as there’s nothing that can change it in November.
