  1. Past hour
  2. The fella reckons that older lad that’s been released after spending the season at Chesterfield and Leyton Orient is the better player, so don’t expect a sensible debate.
  3. Even if Broughton was still here and on the case i don't think it would make much difference because they'd do the same to him as they do to all new managers, head coaches etc. Show the dog the rabbit and allow them a couple of quid to invest then slam the door shut and say you're on your own we have our own problems to deal with. In fact they did that to him. Same will happen with Gestede and Ismael they'll get a couple of million at very best - including wages - to spend. A player will be sold from under them at some point alongside several other departures then next time they go asking for money they'll be blanked. Rinse and repeat.
  4. His value is at least an average championship wage going off the number of games hes now played and reflecting his age and future sell on potential. He'll have been way under that and is entitled to ask for as much as he wants it doesn't mean he wouldn't have settled for less but it's way too late now anyway. Another lad worth 2 or 3 mill going for nothing whilst his replacement will likely not be up too much but at least rigger and the other Dolan knockers are happy eh.
  5. You can't guarantee anything because the guy has already stated he wants to stay here and according to font of truth Nixon Rovers have made him a decent offer but it's only a year. He wants two and according to Nixon Derby would match that but he didn't say if the terms were better or not. End of the day it might come down to Batth deciding if he stays here another year for a decent wage or gambles for lesser money but more security down there. Football wise though he'd be mad to leave here where he's almost guaranteed to be first choice as the season begins. Sometimes it can be as simple as they want to go on holiday and mull it over.
  6. All that still doesn't affect the value of Dolan .
  7. Today
  8. Behave yourself this lot paid the likes of Downing and Rodwell 20 grand a week and for what ? No investment no return just the odd seasons mainly mediocre football and now they are repeating it with Cantwell, also threw away a similar wage on 6 months of Dennis. How many million there straight down the pan yet they won't give our academy grads a championship contract because their starting wages are so low so the hike is seen as too much. Not much thought to actually signing them up then selling them a year later to re-invest. Stupid football club.
  9. Exactly. Hyam and Carter together are ball watching liabilities at times and Mcfadzean steadied it all down when he played albeit in a deep well protected Eustace system. Why can't they do with Batth what they did with him ? Give him the contract and get another good year out of him whilst buying enough time to find or bring through a natural younger replacement. Then in the second year his role might be reduced but he's great back up and on the training ground/dressing room. If there is interest elsewhere and he's not being used then release him, happy days for everyone and the kind of sense Eustace operated with.
  10. No issue (briefly) in signing players up when Gregg the Egg was here. There’s ‘no money left’ is the start and end to it.
  11. You said that he wont be an immediate enigma.
  12. Who it harms I’m not sure all Iv said is that I’m not totally against them being reluctant in handing a 35 year old a two year deal - as like anyone on here it’s a personal opinion. Of all the madness and low balling and crap they have put us through and continue to put us through this would fall at the bottom of my list would I like batth to stay yes of course but merely saying if it’s a 2 year deal or nothing scenario with him then I’m fine with them moving on
  13. Chaddy will be straight in to remind you of Ribeiro, a player who we only signed a couple of months prior. Its an absolute joke. The excuse they always use mid season is that they dont want to do it in case we change division, or to not distract the player. Mid season is the opportune time to do it when you arent focusing on bringing in new players. Now we are left in a position where we have to simultaneously bring in new players and try to sign our best players on new contracts. These players havent even been offered new deals which suggests that there is no appetite within because these are players who can justify competitive Championship players.
  14. I can guarantee Derby haven't offered Batth a two year deal (yet) because he'd be holding up a white shirt already.
  15. An option in who's favour? The club's? May as well be a 1 year deal then.
  16. Don’t disagree with anything you said but as it stands my response to you saying that’s guesswork is correct
  17. Alarm bells didn't ring for you when Eustace walked? They didn't blare louder when you heard Gestede speak publicly?
  18. Who does a 2 year deal harm, exactly? Let's say he's brilliant again next year, but the year after his legs completely go (unlikely). He'd still be a very useful bench player and personality to have around the squad (he seems incredibly professional). They were willing to keep McFadzean on as essentially a player / coach. Why not Batth? We apparently have 2 or 3 really promising young CBs on the books, they could learn a lot from him.
  19. They sat him on the bench behind Calamity for most of the year, of course he wants out.
  20. Be what Markanday will be getting next season.
  21. Yep,looks very physically meek too. We'll soon find out what he is made of.
  22. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25233718.brittain-sends-clear-blackburn-message-amid-contract-talks/ Elliot still trying to peddle that Brittain contract talks are "ongoing" with an absolute nothing story about him and his misses appearing on some netball show on Sky. Also a reminder that we haven't renewed any first team player contracts since 8th December 2023, just over 18 months ago.
  23. More than he was worth.
  24. I don't know for sure what's been offered to Batth but based on what we've seen operationally over the years, I would think it's a relatively poor deal. When Broughton was here and discussions were ongoing with Dolan about a new contract, I was told, by someone who would know, what the opening offer was. Notwithstanding the fact that is was an opening offer and negotiations move the goal posts for both parties, I was taken aback by, IMO, the relative paucity of the offer. There have been postings on here about Waggott allegedly adversely moving the goal posts on offers once made. A leopard doesn't change its spots and I have neither trust in nor respect for our regime. Rovers' recent history suggests to me neither Batth nor Weimann were made decent competitive offers irrespective of any 2nd year issues. If you can't tie down players already in the building then I think as a club we have huge problems.
  25. This next bit is speculation on my part (but I will show my workings 🧐) If Venkys were willing to pay the 100% guarantee I don’t think they’d have needed to go to court re the £4.85 million. I’m basing this on the fact they were given permission to send monies in March ‘24 without a judge ordering the authorities to allow this* With all this in mind, whilst the May case included a request for funds to be sent, I think their main motivation for the appeal was the removal of the guarantee. * I also have a slight recollection of a poster on here saying Pasha had confirmed a ‘deal had been done’. I’m presuming that deal was along the lines of ‘if you keep to the current court conditions well give you permission’ I wouldn’t want to rely on that source though (Pasha, not whoever that poster was 😁).
