Todd Cantwell - is he off?
Hasta replied to ruggles1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Nowhere near as good as he thinks or is or his reputation. But in this squad he is still one of the best players we have got and valuable in the situation we are in. -
Players like Hedges/Mcloughlin/Ohashi/Morishita/Ribeiro/Miller/Pears/Baradji are players that, at a well run club, would be competing for a place on the bench. At best starting the odd game in a crisis. Players like Henrikson, Gueye, DeNeve, Forshaw, Tavares, Kargbo wouldn't have been brought in at all. Our squad has been so downgraded that the former are the first names on the team sheet. That there is nothing any better in the squad to replacement is a damning indictment of where we are at.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Tomphil2 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If you look at VI's record it certainly reeks of being fond of payoffs he's like a poundland Mourinho. Also the length of his deal whiffs as well and i wonder who it would be divi'd up between should it get paid out ! -

KentExile replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Would be my guess I don't think he would mind being sacked (and the resulting payoff), but until that happens, he is "fully aligned" to enough of an extent as to not kick up too much of a fuss. If that changes, and Ismael turns into the next JDT/Eustace, then our glorious leadership have reached new depths -

Said it ages ago that he's such a massive downgrade on Hyam it's ridiculous but the Ewood brains trust seemed to think otherwise. -

Just thinking about the line-ups and the performances this week. Does anyone think VI might be daring the club to sack him? So he can get his final pay packet and retire? I know the squad is bereft, but starting the exact same line-up today as we had on Monday and expecting anything different seemed a bizarre decision. I wonder whether he's doing it to prove a point about needing signings, or signalling that he has given up and run out of ideas. -

Agree. He does alot of ineffectual fancy flicks and pointless passes. He never affects games -

I've seen enough in the last two games to hope he is off in January. Not fit to be captain of this club, or any club to be honest. His performances and attitude are nowhere near the standard I expect at Ewood Park. He spends all week posting rubbish on social media. I wouldn't care if he was playing well, but he's been here ages and you can count on one hand the number of good performances. He's a waste of money, never a leader, petulant, and definitely not who you want in a relegation battle. Maktar Gueye is a poor footballer, but Cantwell had some gall taking the mick out of him on Sky Sports the other week over his skill level. Haven't seen Cantwell do anything useful for this team for quite some time. People in glass houses, etc. Time to go I reckon, Todd. -

Wrexham were decent and were without Moore, Broadhead and Windass and won’t earn an easier 3 points all season. -

I am getting a feeling that we did better without Cantwell than with him results based? I know we have some stattos on here, am I completely wrong? -

No, that would make that one person mentally deficient, someone who should be treated akin to a flat earther Unfortunately I have probably just described both Rudy & Pasha -

The other reason for not scoring goals is that the strikers are crap. -

So if one person thinks we should sell him, does it then become a dilemma ? -

They will also spend a lot more money than Rovers in January -
Two relegation places up for grabs with Wednesday already down. It's two from Pompey, Oxford and us. Still got to visit Oxford so I except them to close the gap. Pompey are pretty good at home we're hopeless. Final 10 fixtures for us are killers. We've wasted the "easy" fixtures in December and that will come back to bite us. Sadly I predict a finish in 23rd place

I know it's famous last words to say a club is "too big" or "too good" to go down, but I really can't see Norwich being down there at the end of the season, I expect them to finish at least ten points higher than us. That run in from March to May which people keep posting is horrific. Inevitably we will pick up some points from those matches, but I think in general that run of games will be a disaster and might be what does for us. There is no firebreak fixtures during that run, they're all gonna be very difficult. - Today

We had Baradji, I thought he'd maybe go off at half time, he looked leggy first half and he'd been booked. He came out to be our best player second half, taking us forward more often than not. He was definitely the one bright spot from today. -

Mcloughlin is error prone and dreadful at defensive headers. He was a poundshop replacement for Hyam who showed today what we've been missing. -

I take all the negatives already been said and most here knew it would probably pan out this way given the er, new alignment. But a few other things:- Tronstad mom? Crikey. He has been fantastic for us in the past - Rev knows it really 😉 but today his body language said it all for me about where the club is at. Others too were at it –throwing arms, pointing, petulant fouls, huffing and puffing. Baradji I thought was our best player –kept the ball well, simple passes to keep game moving, did a lot of running, always showing for the ball, nearly scored. He needs a couple of good players around him to work with imo. Seems I'm in a minority here. Cantwell –agree show pony, a legend in his own head but seems to remember plenty around these parts suggesting that making him captain was an inspired move and how good he was. On this ‘Wrexham aren’t good we are poor’ argument. I thought Wrexham were very good at this level. Strong, quick, good movement. Their front 3 were excellent and worked really well as a unit. Sam Smith won every header and flick on and was strong, Ollie Rathbone as some have said was far more effective than Cantwell, O’Brien was quick and should have scored –they got the ball forward to him really well. Overall, a loss and poor performance. But it doesn’t matter does it – the budget has been slashed, agents are getting paid, Pasha is getting paid and league position isn’t a priority Rudy says.
