Just on your last paragraph. We all know that Gestede has no power on contract negotiations don't we? It's one man's decision and he's the bloke who's cutting the budget probably every year. Gestede is finding players and even then I imagine it's a challenge to get signed off.

Not a chance we'll be spending £2m on a 28/29 year old. We seem to only give contracts out until players are hitting 30, so he'd only be on a 2 year deal at absolute best. I know fees aren't all paid up front but it's highly unlikely we'd spend that much on a player who would likely leave for nothing in 2 years time. He must be available for a cut price.
