Dunnfc Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Does anyone think that one of the big clubs will sign someone for loads of money before the window shuts? Nicko has the been much intrest in Benni recently?
Ben-2000 Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I heard Dunny was in Great Harwood a few weeks back watching footy, the ball went out of play to his feet, he tried showing off a few skills but lost his footing, tripped and fell! Would have loved to have seen that
tcj_jones Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 He really annoyed me on Sunday, clearly didn't want to come on, didn't move when first asked and then Bowen said please get ready Benni!! At that point he got up mumbled a few things to Roberts I think and then huffed down to the front. Proceeded to walk around the pitch for 5 mins and then walk straight off afterwards. Always been supportive and keen to keep him but if that is a sign of things to come i'd rather he left. If what you saw / heard is correct, then his attitude really does stink. He's missed one game, soon after being concussed. I wonder what will happen if any two of our other strikers hit form. I still think he and Santa Cruz would be awesome together up front though.

The sending off changed things but imo RSC and Derbs looked so tired that I thought Hughes was intentionally and deliberately leaving Macarthy and Roberts cooling their heels on the bench. I can only assume that when the teamsheet was pinned up there must have been evidence of the sulks from our black striking brothers. 'Sulks' being a condition not recommended in the dressing room of Man Utd where Sparky learned his trade ...... and hopefully now not in the home one at BRFC! I think those two will give Hughes most managerial headaches but I am confidant that he and the collective spirit that he has instilled in the rest of the team will prevail. Otherwise the door is open.
sleepyjack Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 People jump to whatever conclusions they want on here, don't they? Benni comes on top play up front - on his own, with five minutes to go, in a team of ten men hanging on against Arsenal. When he doesn't score the winner, suddenly he and his 'black brother' have thrown a strop at being left out - this surprising change to the team coming after he spent a week concussed whilst his replacement scored two goals. As for him 'walking around the pitch for 5 mins' what game were you watching MB? I clearly remember him having possession a couple of times and good opportunities for a breakaway, had there been better passes up to him. Jesus effing Christ. Give over.
sleepyjack Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Er. Bit off topic that. Who are we signing? Who are Fulham signing? Did Van Persie slap Dunn? What does Harry Redknapp eat for breakfast? And so on.
tcj_jones Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I remember two instances of him being near the ball. - Once in his own half where he held it well and played it to the left. - Two when the ball was played into the corner and he hardly even bothered to go after it, let alone hold it up and run down the clock. After that he walked around the pitch and barely ran faster than a light jog. Not sure what to make of it myself but if Manchester Blue was in a position to hear / see some of what was happening on the bench, then I have no real reason not to trust him, although I accept there is a chance he might have read the situation wrong.

Knowing where MB sits, I'm pretty confident he heard and saw everything that happended on the bench. Doesn't bode well.
Manchester Blue Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Appreciate the comments tcj and I fully admit I could have misunderstood the situation however quite a few of the others near me also noticed how reluctant he was to come on the pitch and how annoyed he seemed to be. Not sure where the black brothers rubbish comes from, I didn't notice anything about Roberts attitude. In fact if anything Roberts seemed fine, when the subs went to the bench a kid asked Benni for an autograph and he blanked him, Roberts went past and said i'm just putting my kit down and came back and signed autographs. I'm one of Benni's biggest fans and have stuck up for him on many occasions against the lazy tag that is attributed to him just because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken. However IMHO on Sunday he simply jogged around and made no effort to close down, which is something he has at least done to some extent in tha past.
tchocky Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 By the way, i saw the dressing room at Ewood on Tuesday - it still had the main four tactical points on the board, for the players to remember when playing arsenal, which was quite interesting to say the least ! So what were they? I really want to know! Any chance you could reveal the rumour in a weeks time or something? These things always get me curious! Yeah but you'll forget soon enough. Probably an altercation with Fabregas or Van Pissie, or even Wenker.
Ozz Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 However IMHO on Sunday he simply jogged around and made no effort to close down, which is something he has at least done to some extent in tha past. Hope that he plays like that till 1st September.

Quite Agree, his attitude was wrong on Sunday for whatever reason. We were down to 10 men and quite frankly when he came on we went down to 9 against one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
nicko Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Andy Johnson will be fit to play for Everton...so much for his England 'knee' injury. Yakubu won't because he still needs a work permit.
Saltysellars Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Nicko Speaking to a Milwall fan at work this morning. He is saying that the South London club are keen on taking Paul Gallagher on a season long loan. Any news on this? Personally, I would have thought that a championship team might nip in for him between now and next Friday?
Ben-2000 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Hopefully a Championship club will come in for him, he will do a good job, just not good enough for the Prem unfortunately.

Personally, I would have thought that a championship team might nip in for him between now and next Friday? I would be amazed if Gally was loaned to League One. It just devalues him and I think the club want to keep his transfer fee up. The Championship on loan later in the season would be favourite...
rover6 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I really doubt Gally would be devalued by having a good season in League One. Obviously, it'd be preferable for him to go out on loan to a Champ club (although I believe he is injured right now) but failing that, League One would be as good a place as any for him to showcase his talent. Matt Derbyshire's stint in the second tier with Plymouth didn't do much for his valuation.
Eddie Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I think it devalues him. I think once a player at his age has spent a year in a particular league people will think of him as being that quality, particulary if he doesn't do very well down there. Wouldn't he be 24 at the end of it? It's fast approaching the time when we either need to decide he's good enough and he hsa to take on a more serious role, or we need to sell him while we can still get a decent amount for him.
nicko Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Just for the record - and to stop any more private investigating... The Dunny story seems to be a myth. The tale went that he was bitten by an Arsenal player in the tunnel. No names obviously. But all of the usual sources tell me that just did not happen. Thanks for the sniffing around all of the same.
eddiewac Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Oh if only, that coulda really made Wenger look like an idiot
nicko Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Manuel Fernandes has finally signed for Everton on a full-time basis from Benfica...but he does not have international clearance to play tomorrow night. Everton are paying about £6 million to Benfica for him and the Premier League don't think there are any third-party agent ownership issues. Mind you, it's about half of what Benfica wanted...so you can make your own minds up about how the deal has been done and what questions remain unanswered. Like, how big was the agent's fee on this one?

In all honesty i thought if he was going to be a genuinely good prem player he would have done it by now. It`s a shame i know because i think its fair to say everybody at Ewood likes him and he always gives 100%,but unfortunately business is business. If we are all honest i think he is as good as he is going to get, and now may be the best time to sell him given the silly money being thrown at transfers for players.

Hypo-Luxa Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 That's one massive signing for Moyes... thank goodness he isn't eligable for tomorrows game Agreed..now they don't have to run Carsley and Neville out there in the same mid-field anymore. Now that Yakubu and AJ are going to be a duo, I wonder where that puts Cahill? He used to be a Scholes-like off the striker guy and now, is he going to play more of a Attacking midfielder or more of a winger? Whatever the case these two signing are huge...Manny moreso than Yakubu. I just hope Manny's signing was legit because I don't want them dragged into the same muck that ManU, Liverpool and WHam occupy with their dodgy dealings... again, Everton are our major threat for cracking the top 5...
