CAPT KAYOS Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 It doesnt help with the UEFA Cup that unlike the Champions league the TV rights are done per match in the early stages (at least until the end of the group stages - cannot recall what happens after that). Which means that unlike a guaranteed large payout in the CL, smaller UEFA clubs are left to argue over the scraps. Which is why we tried the 6pm kick off experience. No one else offered us enough cash. As I have said before - all part and parcel with what has gone wrong with the game. What happened to the experience and excitement of just getting in and playing football in Europe? Now its just a matter of how much you make/lose as much of football is.

EwoodGlory Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Any updates on the takeover this morning Nicko, any ideas on the rival bid, if there is one?
nicko Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Any updates on the takeover this morning Nicko, any ideas on the rival bid, if there is one? It's a strange one, I know who is putting it together and where the money is coming from. However I believe they have also been in talks with another club. There are so many takeover bidders around just now it is hard to believe. As for Dan Williams and pals...it's going on too long for my liking. But I can imagine Rovers are even more peeved than me about that. Takeovers have become the new transfers. But I think I liked transfers more.
nicko Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Is Williams being a bit naiive in thinking there isn't any rush for him to take over (even though he has half a reason for not doing so because of the transfer window)? No, more complicated than that. When it all settles a lot more will be explained. For now I am sniffing round the rival potential bidder story, which is fresher news and interesting. But let's leave it at that until there is something specific to add. Bolton's taking up a bit of time right now too...
gazsimm Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 the takeover saga has gone on to far now, it's boring me crackers
nicko Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 the takeover saga has gone on to far now, it's boring me crackers I know what you mean. But I think most people agree there does need to be new investment. So it's important.
Hughesy Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Nicko, any inside news on the Bolron job? Could do with a winner at the bookies! ha ha
EwoodGlory Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 It's very important which is why I am still interested. I'm surprised Ranson hasn't been sniffing around yet, rumours are he's looking at Southampton. Not sure if he would be right for us though. Who's your betfair funds going on for the next Bolton boss?
rovers_rob Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 No, more complicated than that. When it all settles a lot more will be explained. Bolton's taking up a bit of time right now too... I know a lot of Rovers fans don't like Souness but other than the last 12 months I thought he did a decent job for us and I think he would do well at Bolton. His best business ever was to bring Hughsey to the club ! Did Souness and Brian Kennedy ever consider buying Rovers ? he was after buying Wolves at one pont wasn't he ?
Hughesy Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Whelan should sell Wigan and buy Rovers, at least he is a rovers fan.
Mozzer Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 aslong as it aint graeme souness interested in buying blackburn id be happy.. we do need a takeover if we want to go further...
Mozzer Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 nicko-did steven reid play in that behind the closed doors match-im sure it was you who said reidy was going to be involved in a match??? will jason roberts be fit for reading game??
ABBEY Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 However I believe they have also been in talks with another club. awsome ..A NON ROVER BY SOUNDS ..GREAT

I'm surprised Ranson hasn't been sniffing around yet, rumours are he's looking at Southampton. Not sure if he would be right for us though. Who's your betfair funds going on for the next Bolton boss? Bolton are interviewing a few, starting today, so it is hard to say. The three I mentioned in the Mirror today are confirmed runners. There could be more. I would say that Paul Jewell WON'T get it. On the takeover it's not Souey. It's an odd development, one I need to know more about before I share.
Mozzer Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 gary Megson, Graeme Souness and John Collins on shortlist for the job... hasnt megson just started work at leicester(and he isnt doing too good)..
nicko Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 gary Megson, Graeme Souness and John Collins on shortlist for the job... hasnt megson just started work at leicester(and he isnt doing too good).. Correct. Think you will find there has been approach for Megson and Collins today. Souey is out of work and available. The Steve Bruce stuff is not all that it appears... But they will interview. Maybe five or six.
Silencio Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Collins looks like a good manager, has totally changed Hibs with his training and methods, even though the players didn't like it when he got there. This is despite selling their better players. He'll wait for a better job. I'll laugh my head off if they get Megson, Reid or Souness (who's the best of that trio.) Going down!
bluebruce Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 Oh god, Souness!!! That'll be absolutely perfect if they get him! I've been waiting for Bolton's demise for so long...first Allardyce leaves, then they appoint the assistant (usually a bad call), then he's off as Bolton spiral into misery, and then...Souness comes to chase off Anelka and Diouf!! I couldn't have written it better!
