Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Glenn Hoddle - my bet for new Wigan manager
herbergeehh Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Hoddle or Bruce, either way I want Wigan to go down. Too bad, I didn't really care before..
Dave S Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Is it Owen Coyle of St Johnstone? I was told by a retired Bookie that this was a very good bet.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I was told by a retired Bookie that this was a very good bet. a - If he was a good bookie, he wouldn't have retired as he'll be racking in the cash... b - he's retired because he's racked in all the cash I don't know what to believe!!!
rossyste Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 darren ferguson is emerging as a dark horse !!!!!!!
disgruntled Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Seeing as we are playing the guessing game: Chris Coleman, Craig Levein or Owen Coyle? Quoted and dated for posterity
nicko Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Quoted and dated for posterity One out of three aint bad. High standard of detective work all round. You will appreciate it has been a long day for some of us...
laughatthedingles Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Can anyone find anywhere to put a bet on???????

Sandiway Blue Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 One out of three aint bad. High standard of detective work all round. You will appreciate it has been a long day for some of us... Alan Shearer?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Any truth in the tabloids reports of Diouf and Ben Haim to Newcastle, Nicko? (Ben Haim for £1mill apparently!)
nicko Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Any truth in the tabloids reports of Diouf and Ben Haim to Newcastle, Nicko? (Ben Haim for £1mill apparently!) I did the Ben Haim link two weeks ago. Chelsea would sell him, Allardyce fancies him, but I think the player won't want to move. Diouf could be sold at Bolton because they are cashing in on a couple, but I don't see why Newcastle would want yet another forward.
nicko Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I hear that the Alan Irvine to Preston link is becoming pretty strong. It's got to be done properly because of the links between the clubs, but the signs are that he fancies it and they certainly fancy him. Burnley are down to a final two...watch that space in the next few hours.
Ozz Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Burnley are down to a final two...watch that space in the next few hours. I texted in for Chicko, but the lines had already closed and I still had to pay for the text.

It's got to be done properly because of the links between the clubs, but the signs are that he fancies it and they certainly fancy him. Now why would PNE ever think Irvine was good management material? If ever it was a case of simply picking a name out of a hat, that's it.
nicko Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Now why would PNE ever think Irvine was good management material? If ever it was a case of simply picking a name out of a hat, that's it. I think that's a bit harsh. Moyes was promoted from within, Billy Davies was promoted from within and both did better than experienced managers like Craig Brown and Paul Simpson. Irv is a smart lad, found and coached some decent kids for Rovers a decade ago and deserves his chance. Whether he is a boss or not remains to be seen, but he deserves his chance.

Moyes was promoted from within, Billy Davies was promoted from within and both did better than experienced managers like Craig Brown and Paul Simpson. That kind of backs up what I said. Moyes and Davies were known to PNE, - they saw both of them first hand, before giving them a job. They have no idea whatsoever, whether Irvine has it in him to manage.

Irvine has had six years in the Premier League. It's not exactly picking a name out of a hat...
LDRover Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Nicko are you still mates with Elton Welsby? And what's he up to these days? I just seem to recall you giving him bits of info when he had his own radio show (century?)?

I just seem to recall you giving him bits of info when he had his own radio show (century?)? See him at Everton games, he works for their TV station. A top pro, very knowledgeable on his football and should be working on bigger and better things than that - especially when you see some of the clowns around.
The1mattjansen Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Nicko, is there any chance you could let us in on the 2 Burnley candidates? Owen Coyle & Darren Ferguson?
nicko Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Nicko, is there any chance you could let us in on the 2 Burnley candidates? Owen Coyle & Darren Ferguson? Owen Coyle and Peter Reid may be a better shout...
