gumboots Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 But whose. They're not sure Yeung has it and the other 2 seem to be pulling in different directions if some of what's in the papers is true so why jeopardise a career that's going somewhere in the hopes of getting cash when the whole club would appear to be in turmoil?

T4E Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 It looks a total shambles to me. Gold wanted Black but has not got the full support of the rest of the board. Sullivan and Brady are pulling different ways. Yeung is just an investor at the moment who is likely to move on. I think they used a takeover as an excuse to let Bruce go. I think they were just fed up with each other. One way or another why would McLeish want to join that lot? I hope you're right. It reminds me of when Duff was linked with Septic.
modes98 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Derby County is a short list. The names I heard are Geraint Williams and Paul Ince. I believe both of their clubs will be approached tomorrow. Birmingham City is bizarre. They are sure McLeish is coming. I am yet to be convinced... Ah that's good to hear. I agree with you about McLeish. I hate the birmingham board and they are really screwing themselves over.
Dunnfc Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Nicko is the really a clause in Sparkys contract?
nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Nicko is the really a clause in Sparkys contract? There are bound to be clauses. But I can't imagine one specifically for England being high up his list of priorities. Contracts are not really worth that much to managers or chairmen for that matter - it's what the boss gets paid that matters and whether he is happy.
modes98 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Any further on brum boss? BBC saying that Scotland have flatly refused brum permission to talk to McLeish and they want to keep him. Also Derby, the money on Ince isn't drying up by the looks of it. Best odds are 4/9.

Also Derby, the money on Ince isn't drying up by the looks of it. Best odds are 4/9. Eric Black has walked out - as predicted yesterday. McLeish is the one they are running with, but I still think there is a bit of late drama with him. Derby will approach TWO clubs today. Ince sure he is getting it, but I expect Geraint Williams to get an interview.
nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Alex McLeish is taking the Birmingham City job. Shocked.
LeftWinger Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Alex McLeish is taking the Birmingham City job. Shocked. Good appointment for them I reckon.
nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Good appointment for them I reckon. No, it will put them at risk of going down. The game's gone mad.
modes98 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Derby will approach TWO clubs today. Ince sure he is getting it, but I expect Geraint Williams to get an interview. I hope Williams gets it. Just went to put a betfair 4/1 on ince on and my account has no money left, can't believe it. Suprised that McLeish has thrown himself to the dragons at brum.
LeftWinger Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I put all the funds I had in betfair on McLeish at 1.17 when Nicko confirmed it. I'll make a mammoth 3.51 net when it's confirmed. Well it's free money isn't it at least. He's 1.01 now.
LeftWinger Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I'm noticing movement on Jewell for Derby boss too Nicko. What you know about this?
philipl Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 The porn boys are probably paying him a figure the SFA couldn't get anywhere near to finding for him- and the first year or so is all coming from Dave Whelan's pockets. And I supposed that for McLeish, after the SPL, BIG CLUB lives up to its name! As Yeung was reportedly having difficulty getting the cash together from Chinese investors, signing Eck on gives them a name they might recognise but certainly can pronounce and probably makes funding the take over much easier. The previous incumbent's ego couldn't take being called Bluce. On that basis, if it gives Sullivan the cash exit from BIG CLUB he has been wanting for a long time, McLeish probably found a signed cheque with his name written on it but the amount left blank. Sparky's seriously big deal at Ewood has probably been overtaken by Bruce at Wigan and now McLeish at Brum inside a week. So Billy Davies to take over in Scotland then?
nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I'm noticing movement on Jewell for Derby boss too Nicko. What you know about this? It went silly a couple of hours or so ago...but I don't think there is anything happening. Yet. It's amazing how these stories start. Derby want to talk to Ince and Williams. That tells me they are going cheap and cheerful. And Paul Jewell is a little more expensive and would want cash for players. Apart from that - as of 2pm - he had not had a call.

I think the McLeish deal suggests Yeung is not coming in, it is a Gold-Sullivan production. Bruce will be on more than Sparky at Wigan - just now. I think he takes a cut if/when they go down. McLeish will have a big bonus in his deal but won't be on Sparky's basic. Craig Levein for Scotland. You heard it here first.

nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Wee Billy will be a contender for Scotland. And Birmingham's current board can't wait for Yeung to sort himself out much longer - or they go down.
Flopsy Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 not neccessarily the best choice of phrase when Sulivan and Gould are involved

If you're interested someone keeps offering 99-1 on Geraint Williams to take over at Derby on Betfair.
nicko Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 If you're interested someone keeps offering 99-1 on Geraint Williams to take over at Derby on Betfair. The Colchester chairman might be taking it... I thought there would have been word of an approach by now.
Ronin Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Craig Levein for Scotland. You heard it here first. I do like the sound of that. But I'm a bit narked off that we've had another manager pinched though
T4E Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Craig Levein for Scotland. You heard it here first. Is that worth a couple of quid at this stage Nicko?

I tried to get it, must have just missed it. Ended up with £4 at 25/1 and £1 at 32/1. Thats on top of the £5 at 33/1 i already have Also tried to cover it with Ince at 5/1 You better be right Nicko
